While he already said something like this in a Washougal interview, I thought it was really interesting to hear again. Just for all the people that constantly bring up the weak field and "Chase isn't on his 2022 level"
"I feel like my riding has been really good, people are trying to say that I'm not as good as I was last year but I still think you take obviously Jett away I feel like my riding is getting better and better, it's tough getting beat every race but I feel like I have improved and Jett just elevated the game."
Big kudos to Chase to say something like that, he's always been pretty open with everything. Without him this 450 season would have been a snoozer, he is a world class athlete and you take Jett away we would talk about his unreal level (which he still has obviously). I do really hope he figures out his crash problem and I pray that the level will be even closer in SX.

Chase has been really classy the whole season about how good Jett is, but we can clearly see now how frustrated he has been the last races after the finnish line.
i think that Chase knows that he is up to speed again and realize that that’s not enough. It was probably easier on him in the start of the season when he was out of form and he told him self that when he is 100% he could beat Jett.
now he is 100% and still can’t and that’s starting to take a toll on him mentally.
but as i said, Sexton is still classy about how good Jett is.
Jett is going to make the next few years very boring. The thing that should worry every other competitor is the fact that he’s going as fast as he is without crashing or ever really looking like he’s on the ragged edge. I would love nothing more than ET to come back and win one more SX this year but after watching Jett in person at MetLife and seeing how he’s adapted to the 450 it’s a long shot for the 3 or anyone else I’m afraid.
Wasn’t much classy about pushing the kid in the last moto when he had nothing to play for and Jett did. Should have let Lawrence cruise home.
I've really enjoyed watching what Jett has done this season.
At the same time, it sucks that it comes at the expense of Chase's complete dominance over the rest of the field.
The guy rode fantastic yesterday.
And as much as I've been a fan of Tomac, (and his legendary father) it pains me to say that he may have had nothing for Jett this season.
He had something to prove.
He realized early in the season that he had the ability to run the table.

I’m as big a Jett fan as anyone but I had no expectation that Chase or anyone else should have just let him cruise home.
That’s the good thing about reading someone’s reply. I realize some Cretin will respond to something with an insult instead of a good counter argument.
In a recent interview, Ferrandis admitted he had an up and down season in 2023, but it is not so bad to end the season in 2nd behind Jett, because he believe he is certainly the best motocross racer in the world right now.
Why only the last moto? Why not gift him both motos? Or the second half of the season maybe?
Was cheering for Jett but I disagree. Chase is a competitor and wants to win regardless. If he would have passed Jett would be huge confidence boost for finals and he would go down in motocross history as only guy to beat Jett in 23.
As if a comment that ridiculous deserves a serious response. You think these guys think it's cool that Jett got a perfect season? Like they're bragging to their friends they were part of history? Hell no. It's demoralizing. Remember Reed taking about RC getting the 2nd perfect season? Saying how he swore he would never let it happen again after the first time and he still couldn't stop him. These guys don't want to get blanked even if it's one moto win
Thing is, it’s not just the pace, it’s how easy Jett is doing it, the technique gap he has on the field, how he is managing the race and the need for an injection of pace, and now to top it off his starts on the 450.
Chase had had pace and technique on about everyone bar Eli the last couple years, and Jett has made him look wooden and crash quite a lot trying to run the pace.
If he stays healthy, this looks entirely sustainable for Jett.
I think we are going to see a different Chase next year when he switches over to ktm. Sometimes a change will be a good thing. Look what happened when Tomac went to yamaha ?
He’s the first guy who moved up since Villopoto who I really thought could make a strong push super high into the record books. He’s already 15th all time in MX wins. He will likely be top 10 a year from now. SX is historically harder to adapt to the big bike, so we will see how he does there.
This might be the new method moving forward. I think it’s better to make your 450 debut in MX and then go to SX the following year. Same with a pro debut. Race the MX season and then go to SX.
So much respect for Chase, guy is all class. That’s how you come up short, acknowledge, move on, and try and get better. I really hope he keeps that desire to win, and learns a lot this offseason.
I may be the small number to think this, but I don’t think the KTM is going to be a good fit. It helped Webb for a few seasons, and really only worked consistently for Dungey. I’m no coach, but Chase is going to have the same issue with tucking the front on any bike until he adjusts his technique.
If chase has the confidence to push, then he will be ok.

As much as I can kind of understand what you’re saying, I’m betting Jett feels much better knowing he fought tooth and nail. He earned every inch. That’s got to be worth it being pushed every single lap to the end

I actually feel a bit bad for Chase. If Jett had another year in the 250s Chase would have been on top of the world right now. Probably would of gone close if not swept like Jett did as well.
These press conferences are painful to watch sometimes. Sounds like the interviewers are trying to come up with something to fill the 15 or 30 minutes they have.
So why weren’t Deegan and Lawrence there again?
Wrong. The classy move was racing to win for your team and more so, shows character doing this for a team that you know you know you are leaving. Class act that guy Chase.
It's interesting that Chase thinks he's riding better, it has me thinking that this season might not have been as interesting as I imagined it being if Eli was healthy, but then again maybe that should have been obvious by watching Jett ride.

That was a very clever move shifting to the 450 in MX first. Makes a huge amount of sense. Gets him an entire MX season to adapt to the bigger bike. Avoids the double whammy of first season in SX and a bigger bike.
