He would’ve been top 10 in the national at red Bud. Instead he smashed the b class & a pro from Canada. It’s really not his fault he is super fast now tho.

My point was that I don't believe that the Schoolboy B/C class, which is 12-17 yr old Intermediate and Novice level riders, was intended to have riders capable of Top 10 level Pro National (or any National level) speed.

From RacerX Interview:

Okay, so it’s official now, you’re debuting in Pro Motocross this weekend in Maryland. Just talk about everything and just the road to get here.

Yeah, it's been tight, especially from Loretta's racing B class getting these points so fast. Having to do multiple races on a single weekend. It's a busy schedule, but hoping to get everything dialed in and come out and race with some of the best in the business here at the last two rounds of Pro Motocross. And I'm stoked to have the opportunity to come out and show what I can do against these guys

There is a rule that lets you race a certain amount of nationals and stay under a certain amount of points to still keep Ammy status. My guess is he is using that rule, but will then score enough points to automatically get his full-time license.

How so? He is clearly getting an exemption of some kind based in his pure speed and minimal A results. He will then go out and score points and probably have good results and then get his full-time outdoor license based on that and no one will complain. If he does these races and scores minimal points he still could race A class in 24 at the ranch. I know he isn’t, but technically he could.

On the AMA MX pro license page it has always said that promoters reserve the right to provide licenses as they see fit. This is an example of that. I am sure there are plenty of more examples of riders not getting 60 points at races that don’t matter and still getting their card.

I don’t even get why people care about the 60 point thing and are acting like this is some big deal. This is how our sport has always worked. No one is suffering or being skipped over by this happening, no matter how much people want to think that’s the case.

Sometimes the promoters don't always upload the results right away and MX Sports doesn't upload everything right away either I had to wait a couple weeks to see my son's results back in the day so maybe he has all the points doesn't really matter all he needs is his team to put in a letter of recommendation form as others have said this is the way it works

Well, go ahead then. I mean if you're going to call him out for being wrong, why not explain what he got wrong?

You still have to have a pro license to do what he is claiming. That rule doesn’t mean anyone can show up(or anyone ama lets) that’s a B rider or A without a license). The rule he is speaking about is the one Dax and Towers last year did(they both already had pro license) then both dropped down to race Loretta’s. It’s completely irrelevant to this topic discussion here. Literally nothing to do with this topic. Complete opposite.

Is he as fast as Dax? Top 10 in the 250 class seems like a stretch or am I sleeping on Casey?

Just checked in on this one with the powers that be.

As the rule showed on page one of this topic, there's a discretionary way to get a license as well.

Casey did a total of five pro-am races (same as Deegan last year). Two of these were on Friday at Unadilla and three in Pennsylvania at Flying Dutchman on Sunday. His SX Futures and Moto Combine results were also taken into consideration by the AMA referee. In this case, the AMA referee deemed that Cochran had proven his merit for a pro license in AMA Pro Motocross.

As someone else in this thread stated, this license will be separate from a Supercross license. Cochran will still need to compete in either Mini O's or SX Futures as an A rider to earn this. Based on what I was told, he will race the first two rounds of SX Futures in 2024 (Plus there will be an SX Futures race at the final round of SMX in LA) to earn the necessary qualifications for his Supercross license.

I agree that he is fast enough but DC made a big deal about N. Israel going from B at LL to racing pro and now Cochran is doing with only racing 4 "A" motos.  Deegan also hustled to get his points before racing last year at Ironman,

Israel had a "license" from another country and and never raced a pro race in the country.....a bit different.

He looked really fast at red Bud. 250 b at LL Janik had a huge lead I never saw anyone jump that high in the 10 commandments. Casey was way back on lap 1 & won the moto.  I would say he,s ready. I predict 7,15 moto score.  Question if your a B rider can you just sign up as an A rider the day of a pro am ?

Ah CooL, so if I get 2nd place in 50+ 4 times, bunch of 4ths in 40B & 7ths in the 125 class. I can race pro. All I need is 60 points hmmm that’s only 30 races.  I figure I should get 1 point per moto.

They clearly state that even if you didn’t meet requirements, if they determine you have adequate experience they’ll bend the rules for you.

In the end they don’t care when you’re a factory up and comer, you don’t have to worry. Pay the money, that’s what it’s about.

Didn't Dungey do this, too? The Vault says his last race at Loretta's was in 125 stock & mod in '05, then in August of '06 he debuted at Steel City. So unless The Vault is incorrect, he never even raced B much less A.

It’s not complete opposite. Technically if he doesn’t score 40 points (I may be wrong on that total) he can race A class next year at LLs.

So how am I wrong? I’m saying he is using an exemption that still also technically keeps his LL eligibility for 24 if he somehow got hurt, etc.

The pro am schedule is out. 3 weeks ago it was released but only the bigger- expensive races where listed. Sand riders would Love Cambridge Mn. Great to see it on the schedule yet. Pine Ridge in Athelstane- Crivitz Wi. Reopened in 23. And is back on the schedule. It’s an hour north of Green Bay. Deep sand with hills threw the woods & quite a few jumps July 20,21.  Aztalan Wi. July 14 same weekend as Millville tho. They usually get aprox 30 in each class. So good points for a top 10.

Dax moved up to big bikes before they got to race much I think. But he was a bit of a problem for Deegan at times. My tip is for those 3 to be the ones to beat in the next few years (250) But Im only watching select events from overseas, so, take it with a pinch of salt haha.

While Casey is a real talent and I look forward to watching him haul ass as a pro, and they seem a great family too from the little bits shown on LL's / other media coverage.

I agree an Am system where you can race any form of B / intermediate class whole being clearly and indisputably National/Pro speed is insane. I'll also end this though as others have said - this isn't Casey's fault at all, in any way - but it's just nuts.
