Is it possible, I know bikes but I don’t know electrical…can you draw enough power from the stock stater to sustain a battery pack running a pump? I’m aware the power gains are not going to truly improve my lap times, but I’m already all in with the polished tranny balanced crank Erick gorr 295 kit so walk me through it if possible
I dont think there is really any power to spare on a 2 stroke. You would need to buy a charging stator and it would probably take more power than you would gain by not having to run the water pump.
Nothing to do with your question, but hopefully a helpful heads up on Gorr YZ295 kits:
Throughly check the powervalve assembly movement and torques from Gorr. I've learned he had outsourced some assembly and there were issues.
My YZ295 Gorr kit was ported for "mo betta" power ended up having piston/powervalve contact issues within a few hours. Additionally, and probably related, it was an absolute nightmare to jet. I was waiting on the Smartcarb to come out to so I could solve jetting more holistically, but they had many years of delays so I never got there (they were all-i on casting the carb body) - but I think they have now.
The people I know that got "good kits" had a lot of fun with their bikes, so there's potential, for sure. Just be sure to pull the pipe off during break-in to check for powervalve contact on the piston.

Thread bump...how would this be powered on a YZ250?
Interesting.... would you remove the impeller? I bet you'd gain some HP by doing that; more than you'd lose from the additional draw by running a bigger stator. You're going to gain weight in battery, pump and wires, though.
From what I understand, the impeller is removed. Like pulling teeth to find out how a bike like this powers the pump.
I remember when this craze first started and was waiting for someone to show up to LL’s with it on a 125. I figure removing that much drag from a small bore would really give you some advantage.
Makes even more sense with ktm etc since they already have a battery.

this should be enough power to run that pump, there is other brands that offer one with more wattage.

Thanks for that^^^ I am unhealthily obsessed with this now...already have the pump on hand. Want to do this for my 24 Beta 300rx for no reason other than something different and some troubleshooting, set up, etc. The bike will be used for a combo of MX/HS more than likely. I just have this huge mental block when it comes to electrical and such.
Which pump did you get?
With your bike it should be pretty simple to do, since you already have a battery. That means you have a charging system. You just need to decide how you want to run it. From the battery, or the stator, with a switch, or a relay. You could even use a probe and turn it on by temperature.
And YES, the whole point of the electric water pump is to remove the mechanical system to lessen the load on the engine and produce more power, which will mainly be in the low to mid-range and it will rev faster.
Yep, appreciate the feedback! Confident I will proceed with this, if anything a project and something a bit different once winter really kicks in.
