What in the world makes you think he doesn’t think about life after racing? Shouldn’t they all do that?… or was that a veiled way of telling him to quit?
Dude could dominate offroad and WSX and not almost kill himself every weekend
No, family can and influence decision's, as will the medical teams.
I know this

Was he in Flys newest helmet? would be interesting to see what impact force was recorded if he was
Move to the 450 will be safer for him.
There was nothing veiled about it, repeated hits to the head cause CTE and a drastically reduced quality of life for athletes and their families.
Isn't RJ well into has 50s by now? I would think he has got something else going
18 people voted down that it should be up to RJ weather he hang s up his boots not vital . WOW . I guess all these people know better . Know exactly his injuries etc etc .
He almost certainly was, but I don’t know that the information from his crash would be released. Anything is possible I guess and I would be curious as well.
That's totally fine, especially for medical advice. But people saying wat he should and should not do . For the best of his family. It's bull. 99.9% on vital have zero idea on full health of RJ .
or we can let him make a decision with his doctors what the best thing for him is, you have no idea what happened internally. Did you start a thread like this when Dylan was knocked out in SX this year? Just because it looked scary doesn’t mean he needs to quit racing he knows the risks.
X2 rj is a grown man, he can decide for himself.
I agree he is a grown man, a grown man with responsibilities and a family that will be around long after racing is. The only point of this whole thing was that I HATE to see guys take these hits, they are potentially devastating to long term brain health. As to the fella with the Ferrandis comment, he is rumored to be retiring this year. Is it due to his SX crash last year? Only he knows, just like the RJ situation. Only RJ knows and only RJ should make a decision on his future, all I said is he should think about LIFE AFTER RACING.
Maybe he has.
I sure hope so.
I agree that RJ should make his own decision , and I think the OP would also. I do not believe he posted this because of a single crash. I believe the pattern of multiple head injuries is why the OP has the opinion that RJ should maybe consider doing something different. When I posted agreeing that RJ should rethink what he is doing. I meant it as a suggestion out of concern, and that was how I took the comment from the OP. I did not think it was much more than advice from a concerned fan. Not anybody demanding that he listen to them and do what they say. I think it would be crazy to think that RJ would read a comment on here and just be like, well a guy on Vital said I should stop. People have said they think he should rethink. No demanding that he step down. Its a message board and the entire concept is to share opinions .
The move to a 450 might be really good for him like others have posted too. Or maybe a different team, some kind of change. Or who knows, he could have something big going on in his personal life that distracts him sometimes. It may not be bad luck or overriding the bike. Sometimes changing a team helps riders. Maybe it could help RJ .
I really just hope he is able to avoid any more major hits to his head. I've had 7 decent concussions. Mostly during my early 20's. 20 years later I have gone from a photographic memory to having a pretty bad at times short term memory and other memory and balance issues. I know others who have to take medicine to avoid seizures and other issues as a result of multiple concussions. Ian Trettel had 1 big one ,and his time racing as a pro was over. A friend and I had him on our podcast just before he ran his first Pro race. That was his life up until that point. He had to relearn how to do everything. It was sad to hear his first interview after his injury while he was still working on recovering. He was doing much better last I heard.
I really hope RJ is able to avoid the big crashes and get the results his speed shows he can get. And he can keep racing. But I can see the points others are making for him to stop. And I think its worth RJ thinking about. I would be sad to see him step away, but I could understand why. I don't know if I could step away myself , if I had that speed and was one of the best in the world. It took a lot for me to stop riding even at my level.
Perfect post.
Pit Row
The same could be said for everyone
Is there an RJ injury update in this thread? I couldn't find it if there is because all the sword fighting is hard to sort through.
He's getting checked out this week.
All I know is he fu**ing rag-dolled in that replay they showed.
