Sitting here watching first motos and a lot of the time the TV announcers and color commentators are about drowned out by the track announcers.
Is this really the best we can do?
Maybe find someplace for rc to talk that there isn't a speaker facing him.
Even Jason and James are difficult to understand sometimes.
You guys have only been the production team since disc brakes got paired with knobby tires.
Maybe go take a beginner film class at your local community College or something......anything.....

Moto will never be prime time. Gaps are too big, motos are too long and the broadcast is too long. We just watched Lawrence walk away from the field for the 18th time this year with virtually nothing happening on the track. You gotta dedicate prime hours of your Saturday to witness that.
nascar is long, but cautions, stage racing, etc closes up gaps and increased excitement.
it’s not the announcing it’s the racing. Supercross is the best shot.

Yep, I don’t know what it is about the racing in the 450s this year, maybe it’s because Jett is so smooth, but visually the racing looks meh, like the intensity is missing, and to me, intensity = excitement. Back where we had RC vs JS or RV vs RD, or even last year, the racing seemed so intense. The racing this year looks like everyone is just out there cruising around.
I know, let's bring in Leigh and Todd...they are professionals. Have Ralph on the sidelines. That will make it prime time for sure.

It's just not a prime time broadcast sport. As fans we think of it as big and important, because it is to us, but it's a tiny sport, with a tiny following.
I went to the MotoGP at Silverstone last weekend, which itself has relatively small following as major broadcast motorsports go, and it is leagues ahead of the motocross and supercross program, both in the US and the GPs. Attendance there was around 50,000 I believe. Compared to the F1 at Silverstone, which is a sell out at 160,000.
The Monster Energy arena part at the MotoGP was larger than most entire pit areas at a GP or National, and that's not even the paddock area. They have multiple broadcast helicopters up for the entire race, as opposed to little flyover drones, for example.
A major round of MXGP, or something like the MXoN, may get 50,000+ through the gates on race day, but in terms of the production it's not even close, and the money in the sport is literally a rounding error in the accounts of some large motorsport series'.
I don't think it'll ever be a prime time sport I'm afraid, certainly not in the current format, and even with some sort of shake up (that would annoy the core fans anyway), I just can't ever see it getting there.

I am bitching about the clueless individuals that set up spots for talking heads and do not even consider where the track speakers are in relation to their mics.
It is beyond amateur.
It is incompetence.

The drone cam coverage was impressive today.
I’ve been watching a lot of old races on YouTube. One thing I’ve noticed…. A lot of great racing and great announcers, Art Eckman, Bailey, DC, Bob Hannah, Staley.
However, the amount of mistakes they make while calling the action (on tape delay) would make this place freak out.
I think the coverage, announcing is great. Drone shots were on point and a little motocross noise from the track announcers didn’t bother me.
The sport can’t be mainstream and have the core fans be pissed when they explain how a tear off works or what engines are in the bikes. Core-Moto is too small an audience.
I think you need to adjust your tv or get hearing aids. I never have a problem hearing anyone.
I agree, moto will never be mainstream/prime time. 99.5% of people cant relate to the sport. The fact that most guys here have the means/ability to ride, or used to ride is incredible. Its kinda why we all sort of get along.
The average person/family having the time/money/willingness to ride/race dirtbikes is almost non existent. Its quite a dedication of resources to make it all happen.
As anyone who rides/races will tell you it is an addiction, its incredible when you can flow and "feel" fast. It is so rewarding and can also be debilitating to your life/family/career.
Ive never raced a single moto, plenty of practice days. I have raced some C class hare scrambles and spend most of my time trail riding with my family. I bought a new bike and new 4 door RZR this year and I am fortunate. Ive worked hard and do well for myself and my family.
Everyone here that rides loves everything about it. We understand each other and we are all fortunate.

NASCAR was not a prime time sport earlier on. One thing that got it publicity and more popular? Fights…maybe some fist-a-cuffs at the podium will help?

Hearing the announcers and commentators has never been a problem. The lower quality of broadcast and coverage I can understand and tolerate because I understand they've got limited funding being a niche sport? My own nitpick complaint is the quality of announcers. Top ex racers don't always make the best commentators. RC and JS sometimes take me away from the racing with their weird takes, stuttering, and inability to clearly explain what they're seeing or thinking. I don't want them to be zero personality robots but I wish they could improve their craft asap. They'll get better with time though.
I'm going to get shit on here but I'll just say it, nothing against Weege but his job is not suited to be the main announcer he position should be second fiddle, in my opinion they need to get a professional like Malin and have Weege/James/RC second fiddle, people enjoy hearing professionals like David Bailey especially when they know nothing about the sport, it sounds professional and the real deal.
You need a commanding voice announcing the race in basic terms preferable American or UK, the Aussie guy who does SX isn't it in my opinion, then James/Weege/RC/Langston type using moto lingo on the side, that way it's easy to understand and new comers can learn quicker in what is going on.
It’s a sport anyone can go buy a bike and 1000’s of us have and do…. Can’t buy a F1 car buy the promotion and glam put to it has millions watching MX/SX has what it takes just needs a better styled promotion…. Just my unasked for 2c
Why are we calling Malin a professional? He is a ex rider just like RC and James. He has just spent time working on his skills as an announcer.
His calling style is quite professional just my opinion.
Weege is too over the place and gives too much respect to ex pro riders in the booth, I have no problem with weege being the side guy just not the main guy.

you must have got up to take a piss then when RC was talking to Lars, because you couldn't hear shit Ricky was saying. Which was a bummer. Thats what I think he was referring to. The bike noise in the background when chicken head was yapping was cool though.
Most adults drive a car though. May not be F1 but it’s a connection.
MX’ers are a special breed. Especially us that love it enough to post on a message board about it.
This sport will never be main stream. Never. If that’s what you’re expecting then you’re just going to constantly be let down and looking to blame something.
