Hey All,
I really don't like writing things like this, but Motosport's shipping department has really gone down the crapper. My last three orders with them have been poorly packaged with little to no protection of the contents and in all cases resulting in receiving damaged parts. Yes, I have worked with their CS department to get replacements, but even when those were received they were poorly packaged with no packing material and the parts allowed to just fly around inside the box. I've since canceled future orders, including a long awaited set of Xtrigs, from them as I have no confidence they can ship me my parts safely. Rocky Mountain ATV however has been awesome and everything I receive from them is packaged like a new born baby. Just sending out an FYI to you all if you buy from them...
Just dealt with customer service at motosport yesterday, couldn’t be more pleased. I’ve noticed a lack of packing material as well but can’t say I’m bothered, just more shit to throw in the trash.
Couldn’t be happier with Motosport. Shipping is always on time or early and have never received a broken product. Never had an issue with Motosport or Rocky Mountain.
I've probably had 20 packages delivered from them in the past 3 months... Zero issues. Best customer service I've dealt with too.
I ordered a FMF slip-on for my 450 last October from RM. It came in a single layer box with the top mount sticking out and a dent/scratch on the can. I needed it because my stock one was destroyed in a crash so I just ran it. Ended up disappointed in RM and FMF because that thing dented just by looking at it... Got another OEM one from a reseller on ebay and it was double layered with excellent padding.

I've ordered from them for many many years and never had issues. But these last three packages that had pretty expensive parts and when opened, the box had absolutely no packing and the parts broke out of their packages and were damaged, that was enough. One time, ok I get things happen. But three times in a row, that's when I go elsewhere. I'm not saying they're a bad company, but just be on the lookout that your packages may not be packaged as securely as you might have hoped. Just my experience...
No issues with my orders ever as far as I remember...
Motosport always slow shipping ,RM is crazy fast
UNBELIEVABLE
I’m a rocky mountain fan but they pissed me off a year ago. Ordered an overnight item on a Wednesday and it didn’t get pulled till Friday.
I still prefer Rocky Mountain but order from both and can’t go wrong with either.
Probably cost cutting initiatives.
This was how I received one of my orders. Disc had broken out of its package and was laying under a fold in the cardboard box. No packaging to keep it from jostling around. Rotor was badly scratched and also dented. Replacement came with no packing again, but managed to stay inside its package.
"Hey guys, Chase from RMATV here. Motosport has really gone down the tubes lately."
All parts suppliers are starting to suck more and more.
2 times this year I have gotten someone else's order from Rocky Mountain ATV and they made it a real pain in the ass to correct when the mistake had nothing to do with me.
Any issue I’ve had, I talked to the gearhead and had it solved within minutes.
I've always received good delivery, service and support from both Motosport and Rocky Mountain. I've moved over to Motosport now because they offer a 10% veteran discount.
I’ve ordered from both and shipping is super slow from Motorsport. I tend to always go to Rocky Mountain because my order is there 3 days. Order parts on Sunday,it’s at my door Wednesday morning.
Everytime I order any maxima aerosol can from motosport (chain lube, filter oil) almost every time at least one of the cans cap is busted up and the nozzle to the spray can is broke off sometimes leaking oil all over in the box. They always correct it by shipping out replacements asap but you'd think they'd want to avoid that issue by packaging things better, but what do I know
During the height of Covid pretty much everybody was overwhelmed and shipping a day or more later. I remember RM showing the ETA of an order when I placed it and showing some a week or more out. And most came much earlier. All of the wholesale distributors I have accounts with were also a day or sometimes 3 behind. But they communicated the issue well.
I wouldn't let late shipping from back then make you not order from them now. I have no recent experience with MOTOSPORT . Other than what I hear from customers. It sounds like some of the items that get drop shipped or that show available in a number of days can come late. But items in stock that they ship themselves show up on time and without issue.
One way of knowing if an item is drop shipped or not, is look and see if there is an invoice inside. Drop shipped stuff will not have paperwork from the Seller inside or on the outside, in my experience . And will only have an address label. (There may be some places that dropship with paperwork , but I have not seen any , so this may not be foolproof.) RM always ships with paperwork unless I have gotten something as a gift or drop shipment, Not sure if everybody sends slips or not. RM dropships VERY little. If You suspect an issue with a drop shipped package, look for a distributors part # sticker someplace to see where it came from. The packing issue might be from a supplier and not Seller themselves.

The packages with the Motosport decals inside are obviously from them. So my post above was more of a general guide .

Companies make decisions based on cost. I’m guessing someone at Msport decided that packing materials were/are a waste of time and money. Heck, someone may have made the decision due to environmental or other concerns…
But, they’ve got a problem: orders are getting damaged.
I can only hope they’ve seen this thread and other inputs and are fixing things.
One thing that I have noticed when I use an online retailer is that the shipments that come through Troutdale OR (pretty much ALL FedEx shipments coming this way) are now coming through pretty quickly. There used to be some pretty significant delays there. Some people reported weeks, I'd only had a few extra days on anything coming from RMATV or J&P/Cycle Gear. The last order that came through Troutdale was there less than 2 hours, and delivered a day earlier than what was originally planned.
I'm sure that the Christmas season things will be back to the Bermuda Triangle there, but for now it is pretty smooth.
Oh, and no issues with packing materials with either RMATV or J&P, so far.........
Do you have to call for the military discount? I didn’t see anything obvious on their website, a lot of places have made it easy with signing in to “login.gov” or something like that which is cool!
Scroll to the bottom to 'We Support The Rider, click on Military Appreciation. Then you have to verify through ID.ME
Companies that don’t use packing material don’t care, and are cheap. Packing material is extremely cheap in bulk. Shipping Dept. Manager is giving everyone the 1 finger salute.
I will never order from them again..
I was loyal Motosport customer for a long time but their slack shipping times and the false "in stock" claims made me move toward Rocky Mtn in the last couple of years. I still try to buy as much as possible from my local shop but it is hard not to use an online store like Rocky Mountain when they can have what you need at your doorstep in a few days for a cheaper price.
I hope Motosport gets their act back together because they are/were a great company to buy from.
