On Pulp Dylan said he doesnt have a lot of options, possibly retirement.
Seems odd that a guy who won a championship cant get a ride. I know Husky has Craig and Mookie on contract but I think Dylan is a spot above both of them.
Why wouldnt Beta go after DF? They need to prove their bike and Dylan can get results
If WSX team could land him that would be pretty big for them .
I am shocked Craig gets rides...Mookie too. If DF can't get a ride, then there are some real problems out there.
Supply and demand economics and one guy out there nobody seems to be able to beat. Plus his concussion shook him up. At this point i would imagine the money has to be good or forget it. So much talent out there, so few spots.
All three deserve a good ride. If he retires that’s a shame.

Deserve is a strong word. DF has earned plenty. I agree, if he did retire, it'd be a shame.
with DF injuries I dont think weve seen dylan in his peak in a few years and it would suck to never see it again.
I was at red bud when he won and I became a fan when he said I know this is an important day to america and you want to see an american win but at this point I consider myself an american. The crowd went crazy lol
Ferrandis is an animal. He's one of my favorite riders and I will be pissed if he doesn't get a ride and fades into the sunset while we watch features of the Craig family and get hard hitting journalism about handlebar lights.
He had a really good run on 250s and came in and looked awesome on the 450 in '21. Yes, last year was rough with being hurt but in MXON he looked up to speed immediately. I think this year it's a combination of him again being injured and also not totally gelled with the bike. So in saying that, I would still think he would be a rider that should get a spot. No offense to anyone but I would take him over half of the guys who are on Factory equipment right now and anyone on the 2nd tier teams (aside from maybe Kenny.) So a guy like that needs to be on a team somewhere. It's crazy to imagine him not finding a ride.
Ferrandis can get a ride. The issue seems to be that he is relatively expensive and for some reason there aren't many willing to pay what he wants.
I'm no psychologist, but I don't think Dylan is happy with the new Star Yamaha, and may not be happy with being at Star either for whatever reason. There is no doubt that he can be a top contender if everything is clicking for him, and his confidence is up. He deserves a good ride. I personally think he could even be great again on the HEP Suzuki 450, even moreso than Roczen if that's where he might land.
His results in 450 SX have not been stellar .
You don't need to be psychologist for this, DF shits on the bike/setup in almost any post race interview this year.
But yeah he sounded pretty frustrated on Pulp when he said that he doesn't have anything for next year. Hopefully something will arise.
It’s one thing when 250 champions struggle to maintain factory rides in the 450 class after lackluster results. To see a 450 MX champion being squeezed out is a huge shame and would detract even further from the parity outdoors next year, regardless of who attends WSX.
Was waiting for this thread to show up.
Seems insane on the face of it.
Why does having "won a championship" mean guaranteed ride?
On another note, none of us know that he might be pricing himself out.
We can almost guarantee that if Dylan offered to ride the bike for FREE, he'd have countless offers. If he prices his services HIGH, then he might find he doesn't have many. Who knows?
If I was a factory team, I would offer him an incentive laced deal. Low base salary with very high win, podium, top 5 bonuses. If I was a team I’d be scared to give him a high base salary even with the injury clause.
I think if I was df I would take that deal. When he is healthy and happy he can run with anyone in Mx and top 5 and podium sx,
I only used that disclaimer because there are more than a few “Dr. Phil” types here.
Kawi needs to field 3 450s so they always have at least 1 on the track. wish Dirran would take a bonus-only/gear deal and prove everybody wrong. he's too good to retire ffs.
Pit Row
He’s not shitting on the bike, he’s just being honest.
He wants to stay at Star.
Im sure he isnt happy that there is no Star Yamaha offer on table now. His bike doesnt seems to work right now that great.
He just finished 3rd at south wick to 23/18…he’s finishing 3rd to them on any bike you give him…
DF14..... Please DO NOT go to wSX and be a sand-bagger like the rest. (same message for Webb).
Kenny is already a lost cause.
I don’t get why kawasaki is not signing this hard worker asap.
Kawasaki is not good at signing 450 riders. Last good one was Villo which seems like eons ago.
So let’s say you’re a mechanic and work Monday thru Friday for approximately $85K a year, but have to work on heavy equipment and fleet trucks daily. Your bonuses depend on how many vehicles you work on…
Then a new company pops up and offers you a job that offers you $150K and you only have to work 1/2 the year and just doing general maintenance on passenger cars. You’re still eligible for bonuses, but your base salary is almost double for less work.
If you didn’t take that job, you’d be an idiot.
Kenny is not an IDIOT ! This sport has a very small window and every one of these guys need to make as much as they can while they are still capable.
Tomac did well on the kawy
True. How could I forget, I must be tired lol
Don’t make this a wsx debate, especially when your example is so far from reality.
Was just going to post this. Tomac had plenty of success on the Kawasaki
Be careful man, you arent supposed to be racing for $$, just prestige. Lol.
