To be fair, Chase was riding not to crash at MxDN and thus hand the US the overall win (which hadn't happened in a long time). Jett was riding to win the race with little to lose. It was smart of Chase to lay up a little and play it safe.  Very similar to when Tomac was racing Herlings at Ironman when Tomac sealed his outdoor championship.  There's too much on the line to ride at a level that could end the season or change the championship outlook,

With everyone boycotting mav tv last summer I guess a lot of people didn’t end up seeing how fast Eli and Chase were.

There have been so many conspiracy theories around Vital about HRC Honda possibly keeping Chase in check knowing he's jumping ship in 2024 (or at least that's a strong rumor), and they don't want to him to mess with Jett the Golden Boy since he's on such a roll right now. We all know that Chase has a reputation...and had one even before his recent health issue, of being a crasher. If he does it this time, how will Honda spin it? Would it be a "that's just Chase"? Or, "it's the bike"? Or, "he still has some concussion/mono issues"?

I could be wrong but I couldn't see Chase using that as an excuse. Again I could have missed something but all I've heard from Chase is that he isn't quite 100% whether it be from illness/injury or the sheer amount of effort he put into supercross this year.

He's not someone who makes excuses, Chase is a bad dude and owns his short comings and that's got to part of why he's so good at what he does 🙂 Not arguing with anyone, I'm just saying 👍
