I agree with him 100%.  If you want to end racism, stop talking about it.  But the government doesn't want that.  They want us fighting over stupid shit.  So we have Juneteenth and Pride Month.

I'll never understand. . . .

Just stupid gangsters terrorizing what should be a fun event. . . .

I live 15 minutes away from there. It always a shit show there. It's 15 minutes away from a very nice middle class area and 15 minutes away from a very rich area. But all the crime happens right there.

We have a national holiday for Columbus, and Juneteenth. Being a Native American it kinda stings that there isn't a national holiday for the original inhabitants of this country. Not taking anything away from either of those days, just saying it's pretty fucking sad.

Yeah, it has been celebrated at indigenous peoples day or not celebrated at all in California for awhile.

Juneteenth. Thats not even a proper word. Did they make it sound unintelligent on purpose? What ever happened to black history month? Is that still a thing, or does this juneteenth thing now supersede that? How many holidays does the gay crowd get? Their gonna get jealous if the black community gets more than them, they will demand equal treatment. While we're at it can we dedicate a holiday or whole month to asian people, or how about mexicans? Where is my white male pride holiday? This whole poilitical pandering to minority/special interest groups and shoving it down the countrys throat is dumb as hell. If we are a nation of united people then we are all "united" as one group.... Americans regardless of skin color, gender, religion etc. If we all act like a united group then this special designation for different indentifications isn't necessary, all it does is point out our differences. We are all different for sure, but drawing lines between our differences and celebrating one side just leaves the other side out. Where do we stop? Is there a national red heads day? (There probably is, but almost nobody has heard of it, or celebrates it, or points it out on TV with so much fervor.) They are a minority. Where do we stop with all the dividing. It kind of reminds me of the old debate about the great american salad bowl vs great american melting pot, but either way you prefer it we are still one big united group of people and the more we can view ourselves that way the better off EVERYONE will be. IF YOUR DIFFERENT THAN ME THATS COOL, QUIT POINTING OUT THE DIFFERENCE AND MAKING IT THE CENTER OF ATTENTION ALL THE TIME! Its hard to see someone for anything other than different if thats what they insist on shoving down your throat. If we can casually look over our differences we can begin to focus on the things that make us alike.

Okay one thing you should realize is African slavery pre-dates the birth of  the United States by over 150 years.  The majority of black people in the US can trace their heritage back to this land way further back than America itself, nevermind most Americans, and until 1865 it was spent as property.  So to pretend it's not deeply rooted in the history of this country or that it shouldn't now be acknowledged is being ignorant.  And let's not pretend the 13th amendment somehow did away with open prejudice in America.  Hell the man that tore the country apart trying to free slaves had a very poor opinion of them.

Lincoln's own words were, "I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races—that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermingling with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which will ever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together, there must be the position of superior. I am as much as any other man in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race."

While technically free, until 1964 black people were not at all viewed as equals.  They could be legally (and often were) lynched for looking at another race wrong.  The first black people who integrated the schools ARE STILL ALIVE, and not that freaking old.  You personally know many people who were alive when black people couldn't drink from the same water fountain.  Even after the Civil Rights Act, America was NOT "great" to most black people.

I realize that reality is difficult to imagine for those who have no point of view from the other side of the fence.  I didn't either as a kid.  I grew up white middle class and the teenage me would have the same thoughts I hear people like you repeatedly saying.  I didn't have that view challenged at all until I met and married my amazing wife.  Now my family is mixed race and I can tell you without a doubt clear racism is still very much a thing.  I know the conservative answer now is to stick your head in the sand and say race and racism are no longer a big issue, but you can't solve problems by turning a blind eye to them.  Most black people don't want their history to be washed away by attempts to pretend like everything is all sunshine and rainbows now.  That history deserves to have a light shined on it because the past has been brutal.  While the US is more balanced than it ever has been in history, it's still not the perfect union the Constitution promised.  Until it is activism, race, and civil rights will be a topic worth debating.  Acknowledging history is how you push forward and avoid the same mistakes and truly make this a better nation for everyone.  So hell yea, that ground swell voice bringing things to light that you call "shoving it down your throat" will continue until everyone of every race feels like this is the place promised to them as citizens.  And no, they don't need to leave or "go back where they came from".  Everyone has a right to fight for something they believe in.

Living around people of many different ethnicities for the first time through the entirety of my 20s taught me that racism is alive and well.  It also taught me that white people might be the least prejudice and racist of all groups in America today.  Mexican, Asisn, and Indian folk hate black people and other races way more than whites do.

Absolutely, racism is a problem among all races.  Some of the heat we get as a couple is from black people.  But you fight the battles you feel are worth while.  Nothing ever got better by doing nothing or pretending it doesn't exist.

Win a championship, burn it down!

Have a freedom celebration, burn it down!

I'll never understand either one of these two things.

Well of course that's the face value of this thing, and I don't think anybody has a problem with that. The issue is I don't think that these SJW marxists actually operate at face value, and it seems like a fair amount of people see it the same way. I guess we'll see how it goes from here.

We have a national holiday for Columbus, and Juneteenth. Being a Native American it kinda stings that there isn't a national holiday for the original inhabitants of this country. Not taking anything away from either of those days, just saying it's pretty fucking sad.

I,m part Naitive American also Oneida Tribe originally from Oneida Ny. America,s 1st ally. GW promised we could keep our millions of acres after we defeated the British. GW was loosing the battles. They stole our land & murdered 90 million of our people using chemical war fare - diseases . I hang out with blacks joke around & get along well. I hv a excitable personality etc. I bought straw bails from 3 plantation in 1990 for pipeline projects. I got a tour of the masters house & the slave houses- very nice . That I tried to buy 1 at the 3 farms.  The farms r beautiful.  They worked 6 days a week cotton season is 6 weeks. Never worked a Sunday. They where given money to go into town & cause trouble. The se is still dry on Sundays because of it. If a neighbor had some work he would rent the slaves. No different then in the 70,s I had to work for neighbors. I started at 3 yrs old working in the fields & feeding animals. Slaves usually started at aprox 15. It’s totally wrong to own someone but the life was actually an easy one. They did laborer work building colleges in the se & the ne. And did custodial work & cooked for the students & staff. They lived on the campus. They where a traded commodity, like a stock purchase. They where given 4 acres to 40 acres after a few yrs even 250 acres of stolen Indian land. The trail of tears pushed all the Indians out to open up the cotton trade in the se. Only 6% went from Africa to America. They attacked each other . So they purchased them from the bauhamas mainly from the blacks. They knew how to season them. Some of the same ways r used to train people today. If they where ever pushed they revolted with burning there house or the masters houses down, injuring the horse, break the wagon or start a fire in the field.  Even today a black driver will say your in the south it takes forever to get anything done. I saw this 86-98 working construction in the se. Great people in the se but a very Slow pace of getting anything done. You should here the Africans at these 1099 Eastern European trucking co.s they say trucking is a million times worse than slavery anywhere in the world. I would agree . I get a old beat to crap trk the Africans get a new trk. I get to hand unload 48k they don’t. 48k is more wt than any slave ever lifted in a yr.  I know of a red head  foster throw away kid from Boston who lives in Tn. He picked cotton & said it’s a easy job.  The Africans at these 1099 co.s all say Obama wanted them in America.  They say it’s worse than slavery & there always angry. They say things where better being on welfare in Africa. There Very racist against our American blacks. They call them lazy & pretty because of there extremely light colored skin.  I was comedy in 19 at a ts in the se.  All the  drivers hanging out where black older drivers  58-73 . They all said the same thing. There own race was always more racist against them than any other race. That’s all for now 4+ weeks of 20- 23+ hr days, nights 7 days a week with no day off. To make nothing a big 128.00 today. The ne sucks. That was a black driver on a dedicated run working 5 days a week who blew the bridge up on i95. If you do the same ready run how do you roll the trk ovr ? It’s 6-9 hr detour now. It’s because none of them can concentrate more than a few seconds. I did this expiremrnt in aprox 05. Chicago to the ne, it’s flat til eastern Ohio still easy tho . I would hv a black driver pass Me going 88. Then he slows to 35. I end passing him 8 times. I don’t like being near them because they Swere into your lane. Once in Pa. It’s time to work & lock in get the concentration level up . None of them hv it. Maybe 8 min tops usually much less. They go from 80+ to 35 . I called them on the radio worried that he blacked out . It’s such s severe drop that he,ll get run ovr. The rest of us can lock in like it’s the last 8 laps of the Indy 500 for 19 + hrs after 34 hrs vision & judging-timing others speed is a little off. I think it’s strange that it so different in races. But they hv wotc to get them a easy ups job . Other races can’t get a job because of there skin color. My Naitive American % doesn’t count. That goes back to the Indian act of kill all Indians.

Shawn,  Most folks here haven't read what you have stated about Lincoln and his opinions that were RECORDED for history!.

I have some education about the South, and long ago, I made some mention here about additional reasons for the War between the States in addition to Slavery. (Which, btw I am glad All men are Free now)  but I got promptly crucified for having additional thoughts in addition to Slavery contributing to the cause of the war.  There were many underlying factors, which will not be repeated here.  There is so much information out there that is truthful, archived information.....but no one here wants to learn more.   I hate slavery, I hate that any man is sub-servient to another man.  Aplman was among the first to point out Southern States Constitutions that very distinctly named slaves as the defining point.  I do not dispute him or others when they point that out, and do not deny that that is true.  He seems to be a very knowledgeable fellow, whom I disagree with alot. LOL (He is good in my opinion)    All I say is there were other ADDITIONAL factors that shaped the War between the States.   The winners write history for the rest of time.. . . and at this point it doesn't matter except to Southern Historians. . .  and we are dying off.  Lol.

I am glad that men are free, no matter the color of their skin......but why the Hell do people of color decide to shoot up their on celebrations that they fought so hard to get and won?

I personally love Juneteenth BBQ's and family get togethers... I have never been treated poorly at any event that I was fortunate to attend....everyone was just happy to get together and celebrate.

I'm sure the usual people will hammer me, but fellas........we all are of the human race, regardless of skin color.

Hell I try to stay in the pool to get that nice dark tan skin......lol.

Anyways boys, It's Saturday night, I've had one seriously effed up week and I'm glad for all of you.......

Kind of sounds like people looking for reasons to be offended, seems sort of, whats the word, snowflake?

Slavery is wrong but how about the other races that where slaves. Do they get a special holiday? All people should be treated equal. The Chinese railroad out west that was brutal work swinging a pick axe chipping stone all day. Thousands died doing the work & where murdered if they complained about not being fed.  All the mental institutions forced the patients to work in the fields. 1910 to 1970,s white 3 yr olds forced to work in the fields 7 days a week.

For all you down voters, please explain. You're not happy that Toyota did what they did? You're not happy that people didn't like what Toyota did? You're not happy that Yahoo had an article about it? You're not happy that I pointed out Toyota is in trouble for doing what they did? You're not happy that I brought it to your attention? You would rather not know that Toyota did that? What exactly are you not happy about? Please explain.

I’ve always been fond of Festivus . I think it’s more inline with motodrive general philosophy … airing of grievances and all that . But that’s just me …
