Anyone have any thoughts on how the stock KTM MX chain compares to the DID ERT3? I haven't been able to find much info on the stock KTM MX chains so curious if others have thoughts. Any idea who makes these for KTM, how the weight or tensile strength compares to the DID, etc...?
Any other chains that might be better?
I have a 2023 FC250 and the stock chain says Regina on it. Other than that I don't know which retail Regina chain is equivalent or if there is one.
Which bike do you have? Like WRC mentioned, the stock non-o'ring chain on the MX models that I've seen was a Regina and they held up great.
I primarily us O'ring chains, so I don't really have a direct comparison for you.
Big step up. Stock KTM chains stretch very quickly. I've been happy with DID.
Don't have any technical specs to show you, just personal experience
I run DiD mx on 250s and 450s and the ERT on the 150sx you won't find a better chain!

I just switched to did ert3, im Not sure what was/is going on in the chain world but I have been eating them up the last 2 years from a few other well known brands, This one seems to be much better quality
ERT3 is the gold standard for non oring chains.
Stock chains on ktm are really decent. The ERT3 is a little better but not enough to care
ERT2 wasn’t as good as the original ERT chain, but the new ERT3 is supposed to be really good. I have a new one I’ll try when I have to replace my chain. The Regina RX3 chain that comes on KTMs is good also. I’ve used them with success in the past on bikes other than KTMS. The ERT3 beats it out in tensile strength 8300 lbs to 7843, but either is strong enough for motocross applications.
see, we come here, ready to embark on our day, at the start of the 2023 Motocross Nationals no less, and this is what graces the top of the Vital food chain. smh. I just... I mean... stick with the KTM chain.
With new bikes I'd break them in with the stock chain, then swap it for something much better. Stock sprockets on any bike tend to last well, but the chains are usually not so good.
For those that run an O ring or X ring…like I do on my track-bikes...even my race bikes…
I’ve been running the DID ERV7 in Baja and the thing lasts a damn long time and DOES NOT stretch. And, yes, it’s not cheap…
I brought this up because it’s the longest lasting/best chain I’ve ever run. I’m gonna try one on my 450 MX bike.
If you're having trouble finding race coverage the problem is 100% you. The home page and forum are saturated with content, and if it is too difficult for you comb through other threads they have consolidated all the content into one convenient "Content Hub".
Plenty of bandwidth to cover pro racing and let motorcycle people talk about motorcycle stuff simultaneously.
