Yes.

The justice system is off the rails.

This is two white guys, but still? Clear cut case of self defense.

They would rather have a world full of of people that look the other way.

Never has it been more obvious.

I dont know who said it, but i recall a quote ' you sleep safe in your beds, because good men do bad things , under cover of darkness'.

How easy would it have been for this to be a 'woman attacked on subway as onlookers do nothing'.

Truckers r not allowed to press charges against blacks in the ghettos when we get shot at. They say it’s due to street violence. You should know better than to drive threw there. But I was delivering there !  I used the copy machine Fri on the res. I said I,m 12.5% Naitive American my great grandma was 100%. But I,m not considered naitive American.  The director said we r the only race that if your mixed they don’t consider or count the Naitive American %. But if I where 12.5% black I would be considered black. It goes back to the 1700,s anti Indian act, kill the race off. One of the tribes names is the turtle clan. They hv hand made turtles, pics ,etc of turtles everywhere.

Couple years ago I helped a female officer who was getting her ass kicked by a suspect I watched her chase across the street while sitting in traffic.

They ended up running down the street I live on. They were both on the ground and, he was hitting her. After yelling  can I help you, I “subdued”  the guy with a rear naked so, she could get cuffs on him.

I wonder what the twist on that would’ve been since the female officer was black, I’m white and, the suspect was Asian.

Well that makes you a white supremacist! At least in the medias eyes. Or maybe just a white vigilante. Not sure which, I need an angry white woman to explain the difference to me…

There is a joke in here somewhere…..

”A black lady, a white guy and Asian walk into a bar…..”

Sorry, I’ve watched Blazing Saddles too many times and it’s the first place my brain went.

This is gonna be a tough one. The jury will no doubt have way more info than we currently have, so we are all just speculating. Rear naked choke hold for 15 minutes, even after he went limp several minutes before … That’s gonna be tough to justify, regardless. I’m not sure exactly what New York’s law is, but that’s all that will matter. Is use of force like that justified based on words a guy said? Or do they physically have to start harming people? Will the jury decide that excessive force was used? Lots of questions. We will know more in time. Not letting go of the choke hold until several minutes after he went limp might cost him.

That isn't true , what you just said. Where did you hear that?

He was held in a rear naked choke until he calmed down. Once he got to that point , the marine actually put him in the recovery position, while he was still awake and conscious. Neely then took a turn for the worse as the marine and the two other guys holding him down tried to revive him.

You have been listening to much from people like AOC.  Her and MSM just expect you to stand by and let lunatics attack and threaten people. And when you actually do stick up for yourself or protect other's......you are labeled a racist.

Guess what......if Neely was a white dude , this would have never even made the news!!  Why do you think that is? And just so you know....MANY black people have killed white and Asian people....but your news stations never even mention it. Just last week there were Two!!  No mention in your channels. And those were strait up murders!  But if a white Marine protects people against a black lunatic.....it makes national news. It's complete bullshit!

I heard he held a mentally ill person in a chokehold, known to cut off oxygen to the brain, for 15 minutes (and that he was the type of person that would have known that. An ex marine or something like that)….until the guy died.  I saw the footage of him doing it.
He should be charged for first-degree murder. The problem with that is the legal experts say it’s too hard to prove what was in the assailants mind. As far as I’m concerned, you can tell a persons intentions by their actions, especially when their actions are made over a 15 minute period, rather than in a split second; but that doesn’t hold legal water.  I don’t see it much different than the cop who kneeled on George Floyd’s neck. Hopefully the outcome will be the same.

He was on NYC list of top 50 at risk homeless people due to his past issues of aggressive behavior on subways.

He broke facial bones of 67 year old woman on subway and got probation if he stayed on his medication and off drugs.

That didn't work. ..

I can ask you the same question. Where did you hear all that? Probably from a right wing source correct?

I literally said we don’t know the details and somehow you took from that to conclude that I’m watching MSNBC and The View and taking any left wing media or politician at their word. Right media bias or left media bias, we don’t know. I was very clear in that. As I said, right now, we are all speculating.

I haven’t seen this covered on any news stations because I rarely watch them and I cut cable long ago. What I was referring to was the cell phone video I watched. When he continued the choke hold even after two other people had him pinned down and he wasn’t moving anymore. Then bystanders can be heard saying afterwards that he needed to let him go once he wasn’t moving anymore.

I’m not sure what your last paragraph has to do with this case at all. Sounds like whataboutism to me. My opinion would be the same if the guy getting choked was white and everyone else was black.

This case appears to have similarities to George Floyd. While not identical obviously, the person can still be convicted of murder if they go way too far with their use of force, even if, originally, their use of force was justified. Again, we don’t know all the details, but if there’s multiple videos of the choke hold continuing several minutes after he went limp, like some bystanders were saying happened in the cell phone video I watched, he could be in big trouble, especially if there were no physical acts of violence committed by the now dead person before the choke hold was applied.

I can't see the Marine getting acquitted in NYC, which is unfortunate because he should be getting a medal from the city for his services. The subway is now slightly safer.
Neely should have been put away years ago after he beat his first elderly victim. Good riddance

All I have to say is he has extensive violent background and not one fucking person gave a shit about him until he was dead.

Good riddance and should’ve happened sooner. Zero empathy.

Don’t like people taking matters into their own hands? Then step tf up and do something about it so others don’t have to.

Dang, man, that’s real hero stuff. Good onya for stepping in to help a Police Officer in a very dangerous situation. You put yourself at risk to help her.  Much respect to you.

Hell yeah Chance!!  If it was Doc , he would of just stood there filming with his phone. Don't dare to step in and try and help the helpless. He might be called bad names on the internet , for doing the right thing. He's on the side of the criminal......and thinks that if you help other people , it's the wrong thing to do. He would just stand there and let it happen....cause that's the correct thing to do.  All for social justice.

Probably gets up extra early in the morning to cook his wife and her boyfriend breakfast before they head out to work in the morning.

Some of us will help a stranded person change a tire on the side of the road. Others will just drive by. That’s all this was. No biggie lol.

Bet that lady officer has a different view on that. Thankfully you were there and not someone like Doc. She might not be here if that was the case.

It appears the video I saw on YouTube has now been taken down because I can’t find it in my history anymore. The closest I can find now is this one with the accompanying article from the New York Post. It appears all that I see posted anywhere now is the video cut and edited to favor one side or the other. Which is a shame. Just show us the truth (the whole video) and let us decipher it ourselves ya know? Anyway, you can see here the choke hold continuing after he’s subdued (but we don’t know how long from this specific video because of the aforementioned edit), and the guy telling him afterwards that what he did originally was fine but once he was unconscious he should have stopped the choke hold.

Here is the article.

Based on that article, it's hard to tell if Vasquez will be a defense or prosecution witness. A major key is how long did he maintain the chokehold after Neely stopped struggling. If he had him the chokehold for 15 minutes then he clearly was not cutting off his air for some time. It only takes about 2 to 3 minutes to pass out once your air is cut off. Sometimes quicker if you did not get a chance to take a deep breath. If he held the chokehold for more than a minute or so after he passed out, he's got problems. Manslaughter is the appropriate charge not murder. That's just stupid. In fact involuntary manslaughter would not necessarily mean prison. If he let go right away after he stopped struggling then he might get out of this.

A person in a rear naked choke only takes about 8-10 seconds to pass out due to the lack of blood flowing to the brain.

It depends on whether or not you are actually cutting off blood supply or just the ability to breath. Rear naked choke hold can do both.

Outside of a highly trained martial artist. It would be hard to differentiate between the two. I’m a fourth degree brown belt in Shorin Ryu and a blue belt in Combat Submission Wrestling. Had a gentleman in a RNC on his hands and knees, until an observer told me he was “out”, I still had no idea, because he didn’t collapse.

Training is one thing, a real life combat situation is completely another. It’s easy to say, coulda, woulda, shoulda, until you’re in a real life scenario.

Yeah for sure. As I said in the very beginning, we are all speculating right now. More details will come out as the process moves forward. The choke hold cuts off blood to the brain, which is what causes you to pass out. The medical examiner did rule the death a homicide initially. A lot of things will have to be examined. As you and I have both said, the huge deciding factor for sure is how long he maintained the choke hold after he stopped struggling.

Yes.

The justice system is off the rails.

This is two white guys, but still? Clear cut case of self defense.
