I doubt it.
Husaberg was created when husqvarna sold out. A lot of there workers and engineers were stood down. So 1 of the head workers created husaberg and hired all the engineers and workers who lost their jobs.
Husaberg was 1 of the 1st companies ktm acquired. Then several years later when ktm acquired husky. They just made them 1 again.
Doesn't Honda own the Montesa name? How cool would that be.
KTM put the Husaberg brand to rest in 2014. Two of my friends had the FE450. Most uncomfortable bike I've ever ridden.

Like my moniker says, I am just an old school fool, but I would bet that if the KTM group brought the Penton nameplate back it would sell as many bikes as GasGas. A lot of guys out there with fond memories of the Penton they either had, or lusted after as a young man. JMO
Have had many Bergs. Still have a few 570s and a TE300. They were ahead of their time with much of their technology. KTM used them more as R&D then trickle the tech to the KTM bikes.
KTM is throwing most of their money at moto gp and not much else.
Which is kind of weird because all they sell for street legal sport bikes is the rc 390. Wish they would bring the rc8 back for street use.
Yes, they do.

650 Husaberg in supermoto trim is still pretty bad ass bike with 64hp and weighting only 271 lbs (123 kg)
Unfortunately, as Honda is a 4 stroke only brand, the trials bikes are not taken so seriously. Like Enduro, 2 strokes rule the roost in Trials.
Seriously? Who has the most championships in trials? I'll spare you a google search. It's Toni Bou, the guy who won 32 championships back to back on a 4-stroke.
Dude is magical on a trials bike. If you've never watched him, do yourself a favor and go spend a few minutes and be amazed. If you like dirt bikes it won't be a waste of your time.
For some reason my dad thought an exotic open class 4stroke with nonexistent parts support was a good bike to have his son transition off an 80cc to..thing was pretty trick but the front end feel was so heavy and the left side kick wasn’t very fun. Also remember the gearbox wasn’t the best.
The first time I went to Glen Helen when I was prob 13 and my first lap I’m rolling around and I go slow off a jump thinking it’s a table and it’s a double. Clip the other side and crash, not even very hard. Smash the radiator and spend the rest of the day watching my friend rip his cr125. Then waiting a couple months to get the replacement radiator.
Unrelated to Husabergs I just remembered something from that fateful Glen Helen trip. I remember some bodybuilder dude riding a cr500 in a tank top. Guy was probably 300lbs and jacked. Does anybody remember that in SoCal in the late 90s? Maybe it was Fabio and 13year old me remembers him being bigger than he was..
Said even in fitting colours...
No way they ever bring the Husaberg name back but those were awesome bikes, I traded my street legal 2010 FX450 last year. It was pretty heavy in the tight woods but the higher speed stuff it was telepathic, only time handling felt weird is slowing down from a high speed section and trying to get it to tip into some tight corners. They were around 250lbs so about 30lbs heavier than modern bikes but the weight was kind of high as well.
I did Hare Scrambles, Rally races, put supermoto wheels on it and it did it all so well, I just got more into woods riding and less dual sport/higher speed stuff so I traded a buddy for his FX350. Those are great luggy motors that dont stall easily and once you get the usual common FI problems fixed they are dead reliable, like 600-1000 hours on dual sport usage reliable
Was there a specific reason for the left side kickstart, and on some, the right side chain/sprockets? Always wondered why some bikes went with the opposite side, if it was for platform sharing reasons, or maybe starting the bike while standing next to it?
They are in the middle of acquiring a brand with as many MotoGP titles as Honda. Got to wonder if they bring MV Augusta back to racing.
Pit Row
99% of the Husaberg R&D happend behind closed doors in Sweden withound KTM knowing about it.
when something turned out positive, like the angle engine Husaberg presented it to KTM.
The brand Husaberg is dead, sadly.
If you want to know more about the last real Husaberg (the one with the 70° engine) feel free to read an article I made about prototype status 2008 till the end of production in 2012. There are a ton of pictures and a couple videos too.
It's in german but on the right side is a translate button:

I remember wanting a 2000 FC 501 in the worst way. Always had a thing for exotic bikes for some reason. How were they getting the weight down on those bikes back then? Dry weight of 224lbs for a 2000 4-stroke mx bike?
Bungholio...wrong.
A 2024 FC501 with a left side kick starter would break Vital!
Villopoto out of retirement to win A1 on it.
Post a reply to: Does Ktm ever release the Husaberg again?!?
