What's interesting is that I think Bubba scrubs far less often than he used to. The Kawi guys really used to beat him up about it.

That was an awesome video......looks like #39 on the honda has it down for sure, did anyone see close to the end they showed a slow-mo scrub he was doing and his rear wheel left the jump before the lip and hit that kicker? He got very lucky on that one amazing!

Also, watch around the 1:42 mark what the Suzuki riders does, whips the bike around off that large jum and never leaves the ground! Very cool

It could be because he didnt ride the outdoors this year, and thats where i think a lot of scrubs happen!

Yeah I was amazed by that at the 1:42 mark too. After seeing this video I'm surprised we don't see more Japanese on the GP circuit.

That Suzuki rider would be one "Mr. YamaMoto"!!! Cool Couldn't ask for a better last name,... well maybe 'Zuki-Moto would be more fitting for his RM.

I think "scubbing" is usually over rated...ESPECIALLY on the amateur level where almost NOBODY does it effectively, and all they do is throw the bike around and waste energy-without shaving seconds off their lap times-just to look cool. Most pros don't do it right either (using bubba as the bar, of course).

And even then, sometimes I think Bubba just wasted a lot of energy throwing the bike around in the air without much gain (especially in his 125 days were he'd "scrub" every frikkin' breaking bump on the track).

Anyway I think the "scub" = The most over-rated technique in motocross.

sick video. at 0:31 Fukaya's scrub looks almost exactly like Barcia's. throw a 151 on the back of his jersey and i wouldn't be able to tell a difference!

way over used. you should see all the kids in the C and B classes that have to scrub every little bump and hump on the track. Yet the kid out front smokin them, is just railin the shit out of some corners to save time.

Yes there are a lot of whips in that video but most definitely there are some scrubs too. I noticed several scrubs were to the right and not the left like a lot of the whips.

I'm not sure if there is any yakuza involved in MX.

Lots of mx tracks are build by people in construction business. They usually have tie to yakuza. maybe that's what you heard. Yakuzas extort money from lots of construction businesses, but I doubt they get into mx. no money in it.

Something interesting though. Back in late 80s when Team Mugen CASIO was racing mx, there was one rider (who's name I don't mention), who was a son of big Yakuza boss from Southwest Japan. he was 15 or 16 when he turned pro, and really a good rider. but rumored he could never be on a Factory Honda because of his family's business. I wonder what kind of business he's in now..... Pinch
