An iconic raceway, just as famous and unique as Budds, Southwick or Red Bud, every year I keep hoping its back on the schedule. My understanding is the attendance at Pala is way lower than GH historically so draw isn’t the issue. The optics of having the track your family/magazine owns in the series but the track your competitor owns out doesn’t look good. What is the issue besides the obvious?

I don't think you know who owns Glen Helen but it's not anyone that owns a motorcycle magazine. Might wanna do some research on that theory...or just read some of the long history of this issue here.
Glen Helen doesn’t want to operate the way all the other tracks in the series operate when they host a national and MX sports doesn’t think the iconicness is worth the head ache of dealing with GH.

MXA put forward an idea, just after the last 3 race shoot out/ whateveritbloodyis, announcement, to have Glen Helen as one of those 3.
After all, there Is Motocross in the name of the 3 SMXs, so, why not have an MX course as a basis for one of them? They could easily ad SXy type stuff on the flat area - they already did for the last batch of Nationals there, so adding more SX stuff, would not be that hard.
And, perhaps the friction between DC and Co, and The Doctor, may not be an issue?
But, maybe it's simply down to potential spectator numbers?

I stand corrected on the ownership connection, thank you for clarifying that, perhaps affiliation is the better description. Its still a shame for the fans great tracks like Glen Helen, Binghamton, etc disappear from the schedule and we can only speculate why.
No need to speculate why, it has been covered publicly and in depth by both sides.
Not sure about Binghamton but the GH issues have been clearly explained.

Dudes here were acting like that gave their kids cancer and took away all the money their family had ever had.
Here’s the short version: Bad blood between the track owner and the series owner has been diplomatically dealt with on a few occasions…well, has been dealt with on a few previous occasions
But, the 2 parties just can see eye to eye on certain issues…and probably never will.
That’s as objective as I can be on the history of these matters.

Don't misrepresent something people are paying for...
He’s the ambassador of the sport and came out saying they were making the best decision for the sport not based on financial reasons. It’s ok to be wrong on occasion and even better if you can admit it and learn from it.
It doesn't surprise me that he's here.
It also doesn't surprise me that he's silent. (Probably has enough roost to duck with the day job.)
I suggest you search out the article MXA did with the owners of Glen Helen "Why doesn't Glen Helen have a National". It's pretty enlightening and doesn't paint DC in the best light. Of course, there are always two sides, but the last time I linked the article my post disappeared.

What competition between MXSports and Glen Helen? Glen Helen isn't running an alt-Nationals.
They are grown ups who can't agree on a deal and are free to choose not to deal with each other. It happens every day in the adult world.
