There’s more too be a elite athlete then just money, winning on either side of the pond raises your profile enormously, MXGP is the highest level & sadly I think it’s too intimidating a prospect for the US elite to even attempt anymore.

My genuine belief thou is Eli could win it with a 2 year deal.

Why doesn't JH84 stop sandbagging & line up at A1? Come race some real competition!

Despite what you all say, I’f Tomac was in a close title fight with several other top euros, and he brought home the bacon at his home GP, stood on the podium as a world champion with the national anthem playing. You’d all be blubbering wrecks witnessing one of the greatest feats delivered by a us rider in your generation.

Stamp it.

MXGP is the pinnacle of outdoors, no other series demands as much out of a rider. Even Cooper Webb recently said he wouldn’t be able to ride the tracks.

The next GOAT needs to have won both sides of the pond, so far that’s only Herlings.

Call me when Herlings wins an SX Championship.....he can't even stay healthy when all he has to concentrate on is Motocross....his career woulda ended years ago if he had to try to stay healthy racing Supercross too.

The bad asses who choose to race in America have to master 2 disciplines, any of your Euros capable of that are already living here.

Herlings is a one trick pony and doesn't even deserve to be in the same conversation as Eli.

Everyone knows that MXGP is the minor leagues compared to America.

0.00% is still not a low enough percent that Eli would want to pack up and move to Europe to race the MXGPs.

Herlings needs to come to the US if he's going to be considered the GOAT.  You can't be the GOAT unless you've won Straight Rhythm.

I do really think he will race again but on 4 wheels. It will be tough to be back from this injury especially at this age. Remenber how he struggled bad the first 6 months after returning of his shoulder injurie. When I listen his update and others ITW, I think he is done. Eli is smart, he knows that Sexton has the freshness, the loosness and the explosivity from a rider of 23 years old. In SX, Fresheness, Loosness and explosivity are very important. Whatever he does I don't care, my dream as a fan in 2017 was to see him win 2 SX titles, 4 MX titles and MXoN. I m bless and I do think he should have retire after MXoN but I understand that the new Yami was a funny toy to try at least for one year to defend his title. Just my 2 cents.

Tomac's MXGP race record is 1-1 1-1 1-3.  But Ironman is all that matters to the GP crowd.

That’s an impressive record, and this isn’t a Eli bashing thread. I 100% believe he’s a title favourite once his become accustomed.

Your point thou does a great job of highlighting where some of you guys loose sight of the challenge of winning MXGP.

To be a MXGP champion you have to win away from home. Herlings has won all over the world, along with many other MXGP stars.

The challenge for Eli isn’t to win at Glen Helen, it’s to win at Lommel, or hard pack or Trentino.

US riders are fast in US, MXGP demands more.

I don't need to say anything else, the facts are right there.  I know it hurts the Euros feelings but sometimes the truth hurts.

Yep, US riders are fast in the US. On the outdoor motocross tracks and inside the stadiums. Supercross is the pinnacle of off road motorcycle racing. MXGP riders get mad respect when they transition to riding both motocross and supercross, obviously more difficult than just one discipline.

Tomac strikes me as one of the last guys in the Paddock that wants to pack up all his shit and live in Europe.  He lives in pretty close to paradise and is pretty isolated just like they seem to like it.

Why the hell would he want to move his family over to Europe and suffer the conditions there for 2 years?

You really think he wants to money?

I'm sure he could care less about a World Championship on his mantle, he's already won championships in the most competitive and important Series' in the world.

Herlings is a one trick pony. If he was so good he'd come race SX and show hes the best rider but he can't cause he only stays in his comfort zone. Herlings has the mentality of  Draft Dodger.

If I was Eli, this is what I'd be doing.  Sept. Aspens. Elk screaming.  Yup.

However, I'm not.

 Tomac bow

Take the rest of 2023 off, focusing on recovery. Then sign with a MXGP team on a 2 year deal, ease into the first year, no rush to win, just get comfortable with the formats & learning the new circuits.

Year 2 go for the title, cut a deal with Loungo that the final MXGP round is a US GP, preferably red bud.

Every chance Eli gets to retire a proper world champion at his home GP.

Tell me you wouldn’t watch that.

You're entitled to your opinion and excuses...  You forget that the US is the size of Europe.  Your 44 countries and our 1.  You're a wild Herlings fanboi.  The series are equal.  And 2 of those 3 races?  Weren't on tracks that the US nationals race on...  You're barking up the wrong tree.

MXGP riders are supposed to be the best and the most well rounded motocross riders in the world. They race on all kinds of conditions and go to countries all over the world but apparently are at some huge disadvantage when they race in the US.
