A number of years back (more than 5) I was riding the main track at Perris. Yes I'm a slow old guy. So I'm on the outside and just holding my line and some kid comes by and punts me off the track into last week. Totally unnecessary, could have just passed but no, needed to be a jerk. The following week I was telling Rudy (proprept) about it and he told me that's very common at Perris. It's supposed to be a fun fucking day. I get that you want to go fast but do you really have to take folks out in the process? Oh well.
TM
I’ve seen it too, but like the OP mentioned, #617 advertises/works for EVO Suspension and I’m pretty sure does some MX teaching. In this case, I would imagine EVO Industry would have a problem with it.
If I was a company sponsoring a rider and they were behaving like that, I'd say you're a bad ambassador of our company. You're a bad investment, and we no longer want to be associated with you. Well, depending on the incident it might start out with a talking to first. But if there is no remorse, it's a bad image for my company.

I would have busted his lip when he flapped it..

So many things wrong in that video...
You know I’ve heard a few stories about a certain number 617 over the last couple years up I the northwest… some things never change sorry that happened to you especially on what was supposed to be such a damn good day at a old time favorite track
If I got 2-3 of these stories, the next one involved a suspension.
You can't see everything from the finish line. I'd take flagger testimony as well.
My promoter was with me when it came down to keeping fast guys around or the folks paying the bills.
Ahh.. had some local woods guy think it was a good idea to try to block pass me after I was already committed and in the air. Mid pack +30 stuff by the way. Old enough to know better. In this picture I had realized what was about to happen. I was mildly positioning myself to just try to avoid killing him. 225 pound me on a 220 pound bike. By the time I realized he wasnt letting off, it was too late.
Broke rib and dislocated rib.
Omg, dang, I’m assuming he got the broken rib Yikes
That is definitely a douche bag move by 617. On a practice day??? Come on man. And his attitude doesn't surprise me at all. Totally common nowadays for people to be defensive and confrontational even when they are dead wrong. Integrity and ownership has left the building.
I'm also taking into account the well established reputation of the OP and what I can see in online social media from the perpetrator.
Maybe people are just nicer in Utah but everyone out here seems to look out for each other, keep it fun and not tolerate bullies.
I think the closest we’ve seen to hands thrown was a take out at a pit bike race, and even that was just 5-10min of shit talking.
I just don’t get the gain of slamming someone during open practice, especially holding a line.
Sooner or later it’ll be a kid and then things go to stage 2.
Late to the party, just watched the vid. . . .
Holy fuck, that would be a dirty move in a race, but on a practice day?! What a fucking douchenozzle.
Don't fight him.......cross the track or whatever you have to do to get him in your sights........and T bone his Femur into multiple pieces......Then as he's laying there...tell him that you're sorry but he just wasn't going fast enough.... Maybe accidentally step on his leg as you are leaving.....
I’d certainly steer clear of EVO Suspension and if they ever wonder, let ‘em know why.
I got the broken rib. Lol
Can’t believe this has so many upvotes. Completely disagree, I’ve met some of the best people in the world through moto. Hardworking, honest, great human beings.
I as well have also made a lot of lifelong friends at the track. But, I would imagine there are pockets/ groups of bad ones, like #617 bully or the other guy in the VetMX video who affect a whole group, or infect the track owner.
Pit Row
I will agree with you, the bad apples in motocross, are REALLY bad apples. Like SUPER douche bags lol.
And it's not just the bad attitude. But blatant take outs can cause the closure of a track that affects us all. We all sign those waivers to ride at the track. But if we get seriously hurt, the insurance company can (and sometimes does) sue the track owner. And even if the owner has done all the things right, the law suit itself is enough to get the track closed. It's called "being right all the way to the poor house".
TM
Also late to the party.
Video was worse than I expected...how is a tool like this allowed near a track with dipshit moves like that PLUS the attitude to double down and back it up.
Makes me think of Biff from Back to the Future.
Does he walk around puffing his chest?
He is the main guy for EVO Suspension for the Western half of Washington. Everyone is scared of him and obviously lets him do whatever he wants. 😎
And a Insta
Why are ppl scared of him ? He’s not that big. Is he a trained fighter ?
EVO Suspension does have a scary tough ring to it.
Are they the Kobra Kai of local moto?
Lol, apparently
Cause he’s the “big cheese” bro
I’ll even bet his boss is scared to do anything to him.
I’m kind of kidding. At least the OP went up to him. He’s just got the cool job, he’s the fast rider at the track, grew up there, got his buddies around him, and no one messes with him (I imagine). I’m sure he’s had similar run-ins with just about everyone that knows him.
Avoid Varner and Evo suspension. Got it
And FCR Suspension - Ohio branch.
