Congrats to Chase!  He's a true champion and just an all around great young man.  He knew on the podium he just won the championship and could have handled that a lot differently than he did.  All class and a true champion.  Gotta be in it to win it and he stuck it out to take the championship.  Well deserved.

Gutted for Eli.

Didn't he win it by default?

His demeanour on the podium suggested he thought he did.

Chase is a stud and completely deserves the championship. There is no asterisk. Hope Eli isn’t hurt too bad. I cringe whenever I hear of an achilles injury.

Since Eli lost this title with his own misstake, i have NO problem with this.

Chase has done how many? This season and still manage to come out on top.

this is not a luck thing, had Eli gone out with a engine failure or been landed on by another rider, that would be bad luck but this one is on Eli and Chase was close enough in points to use it to his advantage.

Not so...Can't discount CS points loss due to his mistakes earlier in season.  Realize most will say ET injury was unavoidable "gave" championship to CS but you can also state mistakes "gave" championship to ET. Gutted for ET, hope it's not last time we get to see him race.  IMO he was the best come from behind rider ever.

Every one of the riders experiences injuries, mechanicals,  bad luck and mistakes. It's a very long series and attrition is huge in who wins championship.  Got-to-be-in-it-to-win-it.

Ok DON'T shoot the messengerWhistling  I'm  a deep researcher on all topics as I enjoy learninng, thus I typed 23 (no other words) into  google and this is what popped up.

I also typed in Gematria Calculator and then asked about 23. Gematria is a difficult topic.

Enjoy, vote up or down, do your own research, who gives a hoot -  as every thing that happens is for a reason.

Remember when Chase kept crashing while leading. Some of the people on here talked so much crap about him, so for that reason it’s satisfying to see him win. He didn’t fold when he kept crashing. He won races straight up, so to say that there’s an asterisk with it isn’t objective. Personally I was pulling for Eli, I thought that he had this one in the bag and could just coast in.
Chase seems like a good guy, I get that if he’s not your guy then you might say that he didn’t really win, but the truth is the championship is determined by points. If he starts next week, he clinches, that’s what the points system says. Yes, Ferrandis, Webb, Anderson, Barcia, Plessinger, and Tomac got hurt, but Sexton scored the most points.

I hate it for Eli. He has been so amazing to watch ride the Yamaha, this won’t change that.

It’s not really lucky, Chase had elite speed all year. If you go down the luck road, you could argue that the rest of the field was lucky Chase kept crashing on his own with big leads early.

It's an asterisk championship that he has won by default, in the season he was docked points for cheating.

He knows it is not a true champions victory

Ridiculous take.  Nobody would say this if Tomac was injured at round 3.  Sexton had the speed all year and stayed close even with the mistakes.  Very different than guys that were slower all year and then stumbled into the title.

How many races did tomac win by default when he wasn't the fastest guy? What happens if you took those points away in your assessment of deservability. Big conundrum you have there huh.

Chase will always know that he gave 100%, never gave up, and that he came out on top.  It would have been easy for Chase to give up when he was behind in points, but he didn't do that. Chase was consistently the fastest guy out there, threw away several wins, and probably learned a lot along the way.

I feel bad for Eli, just as I felt bad for Webb but Chase can hold his head high and know that his hard work and perseverance paid off.  At the end of the day, the last man standing with the most points is the winner, and the record books will reflect that.

He actually doesnt even need to start next week to win. Tomac is down by 7 points now and chase is up by a full race on 3rd. Once Tomac doesnt line up next week (which he isnt) chase wins whether he races or not.

I feel like the guys who say stuff like this literally don't ride themselves because how can you be so overtly disrespectful to a guy who's literally the fastest dirt bike rider on the planet

Eli has 7 wins this season, Chase has 5. He didn’t back in to the championship and he didn’t quit when he kept crashing while leading.

I’m an Eli fan, but the asterisk championship narrative is at best laughable and at worst asinine. Give credit where credit is due.

I disagree, Chase rode a great series, was docked an unfortunate 7 points, and despite Eli’s best dominance, proved to be highly competitive this season. Very sad to see what happened to Eli, we all are, but Chase shouldn’t be written off as Champion imo.

How many people get the luck of winning a SX Title by default once, let alone twice? Hope he’s thankful.

Agree 100%. SX is a game of Attrition. If history is our guide (and it is), then anything can happen and usually does in SX/MX. Congrats Chase Sexton. Survived the 2023 season intact, and the Champ? 🏆🏆🏆🍺

People wrote his first 250 championship off aswell. I honestly don't think Chase cares. He's the fastest supercross rider on planet and he's got the title to back it up now
