Cross Jumping & Bad Attitude at Local Practice? Tell Me This is Still Uncommon.

So last week one of my favorite local tracks re-opened here in western Washington.  The conditions were a bit slick and I was pussy-footing around with my recently reconstructed knee on my mind.  About the 3rd moto of the day this other fella cross-jumped me and I went down.

My front brake lever snapped off in the air and my leg was pretty numb, so I cut the moto short.

After I fixed up my bike for the next moto, I found this guy and asked him why he did it.

He said "...you were going slow..." and basically had no justification or care for the situation, then he told me to get lost.  I was looking for an apology and perhaps some explanation of why it happened, like "I got cross-rutted" or "I lost traction and got shot left toward you".  I understand that shit happens and we all get squirrely at some time or another and I would be bummed, but not pissed off if that were the case.  The "I don't care, just walk away" attitude this fella gave me still has me pissed off.  I told him to steer clear of me in the future and went back to hang out with my friends.

Plenty of people told me they would have thrown down over this.  I'm curious what you guys think about this kind of riding, if anything like this has been done to you and how you would have handle the situation.

Not cool and not acceptable. Take it up with the COC.. Clark of the course

Never understood when faster guys in practice, on a practice day ride like this. Its always like a local pro or local fast guy that rides like this. We have national pros at some local tracks and they blow by you and never have anything shitty like this. Your a better man then me, most def would have dotted his eye for sure back at his truck.

Still, I'd rather have my ass kicked by a 20-something punk than by the legal system over some "assault and battery" charges.

Society has changed in those decades and stepping over that line today can hurt a guy a lot worse than an ass-kicking.

I'd wait till he came around again and in the next turn, I would impact his immediate future.

Exactly, I mean it’s easy to do. You’re gonna probably fall to but nothing like the guy you are t boning. Slowish corner, miss the brakes and gas it.  Get back to truck and sit down with hammer under your leg and wait.

Did he cite the fact that you went completely across the track in the corner prior?

You looked committed, creeping around the inside, then just cut straight out to the berm.  Maybe he was railing the outside and almost nailed you?  That's a safety issue too - guys that cut completely across the track without warning.

Definitely a stupid move on his part he could have gone down as easily as you did. Dudes ego is way out of wack with his riding abilities and judgement skills. Although he hit you pretty hard it didn’t look intentional. That’s not somewhere you would choose to make contact with some. Definitely a squid.

People who act like this generally have severe insecurity issues. Glad you didn’t get hurt and could just move on.

Glad I gave my stuff to Dan at EVO East instead of this clown, I’d hate to know I’d supported him. No reason to cross-jump that, and the fact that he didn’t stop to see if you were ok/apologize is uncalled for.

on the subject of younger folks poaching Vet/OT practice, I’m seeing it more and if tracks don’t do something about it it’s going to get someone hurt. Vets/OT riders earned the privilege to have a practice full of people who need to be able to get to work on Monday.

What's the name of this guy's company?

Bro, I hate to say it, but the majority of dudes who ride moto are inconsiderate douchebags. Not exactly a community of people with high emotional intelligence.

It’s Evo Suspension, but they’re franchises-he’s the one for western Washington, not the owner of Evo in general. Dan Moore is the one for the eastern side of the state.

Nope. But by contrast, Dan is phenomenal to work with. Suspension turned out great and he was great with follow-up questions, etc.

That's awesome to hear there are still good reputable businesses left in Moto👍

If this guy does the suspension like he rides the bike… OMG Blush

And he says were you slow? Then he doesn't have the perception to understand where you are and where the other bike is. What a crap person, at least have the humility to admit that he took an unnecessary crap where he could have broken a collarbone or something can happen in situation like this

So when he make a suspension shit he's going to say it's the rider who can't ride? Probably yes...best wishes to his clients Grinning

That is completely over the line. You may have been racing him hard pushing a little wide but nothing that should have made him respond like that. 30+ Expert class, he knew exactly what he was doing, you are lucky to walk away from that one. Someone behind could have easily landed on you and squeezed you like a pimple. I'm one that usually tells people they are being clowns threatening violence, but I probably would have been taken to jail over that one.

I would probably just chalk it up this time but make a mental note about the guy. If the dude does anything like that again we would have an issue at that point. I might approach him in the pits and have a conversation about what his problem is. If that doesn't go well then I might ram the living sh_t out him on the track.

What he did was a bad move and the he acted like a total asshole.  I wild really like to have some identifying information to provide an opinion to his sponsors/followers whatever.  (I saw the previous posts but wasn’t sure who was who in that regard.)

I just noticed it looks like the practice champ has already taken a soil sample by the looks of his back. KNOB

Ya, that dude has no business lipping off to anyone.  An ass beating is in the cards if he keeps that up, and it doesn't look like he'd make it much of a fight.  The cross jumping is one thing, the lipping off afterwards is a whole another issue.

All he's learning from you letting it go is that he can rough house you and get away with it. Anything you get after that, you've got coming because you encouraged the behavior. Parking that punk with ill will accomplishes a number of things. He learns about consequences. You might save someone else from his douchebaggery. You might sleep better at night as well.

You’re right. You can’t just let this sit, but I’m pretty sure emails have been sent to Evoind.com western Washington.
