I installed the ride engineering start switch and old style kills switch today. Definitely feels better than the stock one and way easier to reach.
Does the button come as a grey option like in the photo, as it only shows red on the ride engineering web site.
No clue, I didn’t even notice it wasn’t the color that was in the photo haha.
Wall of tools has me fully torqued.

Dang, looks like it's already sold. That didn't seem like a bad price.
What throttle tube are you running?
G2.
Quick review: At the 11 mark, and just installed a PC exhaust combo. Dear Lord thank you for unleashing this thing to its full RPM range. Was really struggling with how soon it signed off before.
Whole new animal now! Just waiting on my 6500 cartridge inserts 👍🏼
I felt the same way about the increase of over rev after a pipe and silencer. Pretty big difference
I have the fmf and akro on my 300sx and it does sign off up too too quick.
does the pc really add that extra rpm needed up top?
rumour is the bills is good as well as the doma and hgs
Do you have the full Fmf or just the silencer? I have the fatty and the muffler and it seems to pull really well all the way up to the top.
Got the PC combo but waiting for the radiotor T piece to come in as mine broke last time out. Warning! Anyone that hasn't replaced that do it before it ruins your ride!
Does that have the thermostat in-line or is this after the thermo?
Do you have a link?
This showed up yesterday.

Wow! 24”s already!
3 secs later, grab brake, pump forks.. "Yep, the spring forks are better!" hahaa
I think it eliminates it.
Pit Row
So I got around to putting in my new t-piece tonight. There are a lot of videos showing how the older KTM metal t-piece's are removed but not the 2023 KTM's with plastic pieces. Anyone have the secret to getting the plastic one out. I'm about to just start trying to break it and pull it out.
Take this for whats it's worth as this has been my experience and I'm not going to debate with anyone. I have been riding and racing and testing (although not much racing in the last several years) for over 30 years. I have owned and ridden several KTM 250sx and converted 300sx bikes. I have also raced and owned several stock and built 2 strokes of varying brands. I have used several different premix oils and fuels over the years as there are several reputable companies out there. I am now a vet rider/racer and I just wanted my bike to run well and be reliable. I have been riding this bike in 55-75 deg temps at sea level.
- ECU - My engine ran extremely rich particularly in the lower half of the RPM range. I decided I was not going to mess with premix ratios or special fuels for several reasons (once again I'm not going to debate on this subject). I have been running this bike on Motorex 2T and ethanol free premium. I have messed with the TPS adjustment and although it did make some difference, it didn't fix the issue. In February of 2023 I contacted Vortex, GET, JD Jetting, WMR Motorsports in Florida, and Twisted Development (I have ran their modified Vortex ECU's in the past with great results). A few months have passed and more companies may have a product available now but at the time I only found two. JD Jetting offered a fueling product that worked in conjunction with the ECU and WMR offered an actual ECU reprograming. I talked with Joe at WMR and explained my concerns and what I wanted. He told me he had a setting for a stock engine running on ethanol free premium (but with a stock exhaust). WMR programmed my ECU and upon testing it was significantly improved. Although slightly a little rich feeling across the range.
- Exhaust - I have ran FMF, Pro Circuit, Scalvini, and stock pipe/muffler combinations and for me on a track I have always been most happy with the Pro Circuit system on my 2 stroke 250/300sx bikes. (I run FMF on my off-road bike) I got their system and tested it in combination with the mapped ECU. The motor performance was again improved. It revs faster and more free without the inconsistencies in the RPM range.
- start/stop switch - My start/stop switch did not work very well and I had moments where my start button did not work unless I pushed it extremely hard and waited a moment. I spoke directly to people I know at KTM and they told me this isn't uncommon and the quality of the switch has been very hit or miss. Obviously my switch was a "miss" so I bought the Nihilo switch setup. It installed very easy and I have had zero issues.
- Gearing - This is more personal preference but I went up one tooth on the rear and it suits me better.
- Other - I am running spring cone valve forks and trax shock at the moment and I have also been testing some setups with the stock suspension as well as a KYB fork conversion (I have really liked these in the past). I run a 24mm Showa steering dampener with the Ride Engineering adapter and for me having had multiple injuries to my arms it helps me alleviate some strength and grip issues. I have ran the KTM hard parts split triple clamps on a few bikes and I feel like they improve front end feel, especially on harder dirt tracks. I have a Works Connection floating rear axle setup and it is cool but I'm not convinced it is worth it. Obviously there are several other things to change (fork height, sag, tire psi, tire brand, etc) but thats more personal preference stuff.
Some people are very happy with their bikes as they come and other have had issues. I had a few issues and was frustrated initially due to the lack of info and aftermarket/OEM product availability.
Anyways I hope this helps someone with someone of their questions, concerns, worries, etc.
I talked to Dan at GET and he said they had an ecu done but were waiting on parts before they could start selling. I'd guess they are a week to 3 weeks still out on getting parts...but I'm guessing.
I put the PC exhaust on my bike and will get to test it out this weekend.
Madmax - Anxious to hear your thoughts on the exhaust. It totally changed the bike for me
How many ours are you guys getting on the original top end for the 300, I’m at 16.5 hours currently but the manual says to change at every 15 hours. Should I test it and keep going further or should I change it.
Pull the forks apart and take pics
I have 45hrs on mine right now, Vet/SrA Mx … so far mine has been great, I will likely pull top end between 55-65hrs. I have owned Xc300”s, ridden in Mx & Gncc go 100hrs with proper maintenance. If running strong, no way I would pull the top end before 50hrs, unless you are a high level A or pro rider. IMO…
Any improvement on the ECU?
The plastic T no longer uses a special tool to take it apart. It uses a 30mm socket or wrench to unthread it.
Moto Hose has the new T hose that eliminates the thermostat but colors are limited right now to Yellow Red and White till the next production arrives in a few weeks.
Is removing the T stat something that seems beneficial?
I have to wait and see if this effects the start up temp and fuel table bc the thermo doesn’t open until 55c..so once that opens and water flows, that will effect the fueling table again.
colder temps for two strokes usually means a rich condition is needed..if the engine has less regulation on sensing water temp as a condition of the table it may lean out the fueling table bc it thinks it is up to temp sooner that it is.
The sensing ability of this bike is crazy, 22 sensing points on the crank alone.
Hi David, I have the FMF with Akro and found no change from stock. Have a full Bills coming. What did you find changes where with the PC?
