Is this infamous track still there or is it gone?
I've ridden there, it's amazing.
There is absolutely nothing that sucks about the Central California coast except that you need to be independently wealthy to live there.
I feel fortunate to be able to say that I rode there a couple times and got to size up (but not jump) some of the big hits that appeared in so many 90s dirt bike movies.
But that is on the 2.4 assessment, this would be 3 times that if sells for asking price. So about $75,000 a year just in taxes. Assuming that's how taxes work in California, that's how it is in KY. Pay taxes on what you paid first year, then every so many years they reassess the value. Can't believe it's only been viewed 500 times, must not have hit all the moto forums yet. And I notice they don't show any of the tracks in the pictures, so not sure if they are gone or realize most people wouldn't want that.
Welcome to the sunshine tax...
The tracks are there..I doubt they are trying to market it to moto people.
The tracks are worth nothing except build cost to a moto guy Anyone else, it is worth more bulldozed because then the new owner won't have to pay to bulldoze it.
I’d snatch it right up but, there ain’t a cow on the place!!!
i am buying a powerball ticket, and then new central cali outdoor national in 2025.
it will make escape country track look flat.

hillbilly providing refreshments and has first shot at open mic storytime
that's one of the few things CA has gotten right, the cap on property taxes from Prop 13 back in the 70s. We have some of the lowest property taxes in the country.
I don't know how NC property taxes go, but I'd be curious to see how Deegan's 35 acre spread at $4M asking price would compare to the taxes of Castillo Ranch at $7.6M asking for 480 acres.
Any real estate experts here that can answer that?
Those aren't dogs
It'll be 80k/year
Taxes aren't based on asking or sales price they are based on the tax assessment which is totally different than an appraisal based on comparison which is typically how home and property values are configured.
Pit Row
Sunshine state is Florida
Yup.
But, still…even with the Williamson Act & utilizing a decent heard management system, that place is gonna cost ya $1-1.4M a year to pay for, maintain & run (assuming $7.3M selling price & some smart management).
In KY, when you buy a house, you pay taxes on selling price. Same with vehicles. Then each year after that, tax is assessed based off of what the state thinks it's worth. You can fight it with a vehicle if you think they appraised too high, not sure about a home. Not that any of this matters to me on this property as I couldn't even afford the taxes whether it was on 2.4 million or 7.3 million.
...and the Sunshine TAX state is California.
Bargain
I see you edited it -- It did say sunshine state
There is a reason it’s so expensive, if you haven’t been you wouldn’t know. It ain’t Florida
Wow....
Holy shit dude....
I originally said "Sunshine tax". I'll spell it out for you since it seems to have gone over your head... In California....we pay the sunshine tax... GET IT YET?
1% on assessed value. Is that high?
3.5% in AZ.https://www.hechtgroup.com/is-there-tax-on-commercial-property-in-phoen…
1.8% in Texas. It's the super high cost of property that makes California property tax seem insane.

It seems like a bargain when you compare it to the Deegan sale - please note, that is not any Deegan hatred.
That's a lot of acreage, with those rolling hills that get , I would assume, so many of us here salivating to ride on. And, over many years, we've seen it being ridden.
I'm just curious as to the Big, White building and the other large roof top in that cluster of buildings.
Was it / is it - that tight clustering of Large buildings, crammed together on a Big plot of land - just a result of it perhaps being a Castillo 'generations' group of domiciles? And, they may have sub divided it, with the extra large houses etc, a separate property / properties?
As, looking at the sales pictures, it's the 480 acres, and the Sand coloured / light brown house, pool, pool house and, from what I read, that Big Shed (and some others?) a bit away from the 'cluster', that is part of the sale.
Just curious.
Heck, I just saw on the TV, that Sydney, Australia, where I live, was the second most expensive place to live in the World............
You might get 3 or 4 typically shoddily built McMansions here, with virtually no yard, with the next doors house just 1.5 meters away from you, for the price of that spread .
Oh to be Wealthy.
I've been to Castillo a few times, one of the most beautiful tracks in the world. I'll always remember having my bike dragged out of the mud by DC at a RacerX Ride Day.
