And before anyone gets too mad about this, this was a public facebook conversation, pre covid 2019, with the owner of a large West Coast KTM dealership, after they wanted 13k OTD for a leftover Pre-KTM 2018 GasGas 300. Justifying their bullshit mark ups because "people are going to buy their parts from online retailers with no overhead" (lol)

This was after buying three bikes and all my parts from them for years...

That’s a crazy price. Ktm imo it’s like buying 6 70% complete puzzles & you hv to combine them to make 1.

I priced out a KTM 350 a couple weeks ago..one dealer was $10,500 plus tax, (plus $1500 parts/accessories credit (from KTM))

The other KTM dealer in WI that seems to sponsor local riders here and thought would get me a decent price was like $11k for the bike, $1000 for setup, $1000 for shipping, $1000 docs fees $1000 etc. ~$20,000 OTD  Blink Laughing

No I don't. The next day I went to Auburn and picked up a Beta 300RR RE for 8k OTD.

And yes it was.

Start with Cycle Trader.   The aggressive dealers advertise there.  Then…..set the radius of how far you are willing to drive and call those dealers.   Don’t email, chat, or text.   Get someone on the phone and let them know that you are a serious buyer and ready to go.   Ask for the best price.   Don’t say that you are going to be calling a bunch of other dealers and whoring down the price……just ask for their best price.   Thank them and be respectful.   Don’t argue about the pricing as they are allowed to sell the bikes for as much as we are willing to pay.  You will find a dealer that may have extra inventory or they need unit sales that month because of a sales incentive.   If you are buying strictly on price then don’t forget to account for gas and your valuable time when finding a bike that isn’t as close.

I think this is a fair way to do it.   One of your calls or conversations will stand out above the others.   Buy that one.   Also…..don’t do this unless you are ready to go.   Having cash doesn’t have the same value that it used to.  It doesn’t matter to a dealership whether you are going to take their financing or paying cash.   Back in the day…..paying cash mattered because the dealer can maneuver the cash a little to avoid taxes.  Those days seem to be gone.

Contact Ridersville Cycle for KX 450 price (or Honda, KTM). I believe Romney Cycles has some of the best prices for Yamaha and Suzuki.

One thing I'd like to add is don't say your paying cash because if they think you're financing you might get a better otd price . Don't forget they make money off the back end . Then just pay it off in a month
