Beware of CP. I had one crack in half at 40 hrs. 13.5 comp ratio. If you do a search you will see issues with them. I would go with wossner or JE.
Thank you for the heads up. Do you think the compression ratio had anything to do with it? I'm thinking I should cancel the order and go OEM.
Turns out this guy knows what he is talking about.
I started in 1979 in the parts department. Frankenbike is a real thing.

I appreciate it!
I definitely buy into the X-trig clamps and PHDS - I believe it improves stability when leaned, entering corners, and of course overall softens the feedback to your hands.
They are the 23 offset and I like the way the bike falls into corners.
I vote OEM. A little extra bark is nice, but OEM is so damn reliable.
well, i vote for a high compression piston. I ran a PC piston in my 2019 and a 14;1 CP in my 2022 SR. I run VP T4.
I feel bad your so hard up that you can't buy race fuel. I can probably get some donations together to help you out. Even raise a few extra bucks for some Taco Bell, Slim Jims, and a couple Monsters for the drive to the track to help fuel your next big ride. Let me know ASAP, because I'm coming down hard from a 72+ hour bender. Or just post your gofundme for race fuel and I'll take care of you myself before I go to sleep for the next 30 or so hours. Haha
Thanks man. My advice to you is to get off meth and go to sleep.
Meth? I'm not the one in North Carolina who can't afford a $120 can of t4. But that's besides the point. You can continue to bash me out of jealousy all you want. But I'm gonna give you a chance, because I believe in you. So here is the deal. I will give you $100 for every tooth left in your mouth to help with the gas, food, or whatever. It's none of my buisness what you do with it, but if you have less than 6 teeth I'll still give you $600 minimum regardless. If you have 20 or more your sitting pretty. I'm a man of my word, but I will need a picture for evidence with proof It's you if you accept. I have financial goals to accomplish and then I will relax and sleep after I reach those goals in the next 5 years and retire young. The pre-market exchange opens in 18 minutes West Coast time and I have to be awake to send my sister money and sign off on accounts if need be. I don't appreciate bullies online or in real life. Even after your constant attacks on me and others over the years, here I am trying to help you with your blossoming racing career. So are we on or what? I'll even throw in tickets to the next John Maher show...oops....I meant the Final (thank god) Dead and Company show. Arizona May 23rd or July 14 through the 16th at Oracle Park in SF where my buddies company has a personal suite fully stocked. But if you start rubbing one out to "Your Body is a Wonderland" in the suite it won't end good for you. I'll even give you a couple dollars for some fresh new John Maher tie dye shirts, some whippits, shrooms, deodorant, and some killer Ipa's. It will be an epic time bro. Doesn't pay to be a dick to everyone from behind a screen buddy.
Fuck yes
Appreciate the feedback!
Any of you guys get the recall letter for the 2022 KX250 and KX450? If your bike starts hard.....there could be an answer. They need to pull the info off of you fuel pump to see if it's part of the recall. Anyone else get the letter?
I know of a person with a '22 that had his fuel pump go bad almost immediately when the bike was new. Got it warrantied, no issues.
My '21 has tons of hours with no issues, and my '23 has 3 hours with no issues. From what I understand, nothing has changed on the pump since '19 so sounds like they just had a bad batch while assembling some '22's. Bummer if yours is in the mix!
I bought my 22 last fall and didn't receive anything. Bike has 6.7 hours on it now haven't had any issues.
Unrelated, I just raced last weekend and noticed when I rev the bike and hold it at anything less than 1/2 throttle, the rev is like very inconsistent and wants to like die. First time I have noticed it. It was also 20 degrees outside so maybe thats it but I did change out the couplers a few times. Anyone else had this? Bike ran fine otherwise.
I rode Saturday @ 38ish degrees, had ridden last when it was 75 degrees the previous weekend. I noticed the first few corners a little bog off the bottom, but then it went away and was perfect after that. I feel the mapping on these is a little rough, especially after riding with a mapped ECU for so long.
Got the ‘23 broken in this weekend - maybe it’s placebo, but I swear this bike feels faster than my ‘21 was when it was new. I know bikes can vary in HP from the same assembly line, but it feels like I got a good one. Im stoked on this steed.
The ‘21 cleaned up nice with the new plastic and wheels. Initially was going to sell this one, but I’m leaning toward a fresh top/bottom end, and keeping it as a backup/beater/buddy bike.
The wife is having a hard time getting me out of the garage these days.
I just picked up and was able to ride my new '23 SR over the weekend and damn it is amazing! Comparing it to my '21 KX450 (which I absolutely loved), I am seriously impressed. The motor is incredible, it is just as linear and controllable as my '21 but with noticeably more power everywhere. The Showa forks are also amazing and I really liked my standard forks. With only about 2 hours on them and stock settings, they seem similarly plush but with way better midstroke dampening and hold-up. Can't wait to get more time on it and see how the suspension settles in. Overall, I couldn't be happier!!!

Anyone had issues with the little tabs breaking off the end of the needle bearings of the linkage? I greased my linkage today and noticed the spacer for the dog bone was hard to remove. Once removed I noticed little pieces of metal that are little tabs on the needle bearings.
I just received the recall notice for my 22 SR. It has been finnicky starting since new, and I just figured it was my engine package that I installed when new (cams, CP Piston, vortex with tokyomods programming). Will be interesting to see what the new fuel pump does. Although I can't stand the thought of my bike being at a dealership unsupervised.
I got the Letter for my SR. But I have not ridden it to notice any starting issues.
I received the letter as well for my 22 Sr. I've had no problems with it starting. May just wait and see if I run into problems.
I just don't want my bike at the local dealerships. I don't trust them working on my bikes.....
100%
Got my recall for fuel pump on my 2022 sr kx450. Have had 0 issues starting or riding. My dealer gets me the part and paperwork and allows me to install myself. Dont enjoy dealer working on this baby either. Anyone notice or know what the fuel pump issue would present?
Agreed. I’ll ask mine and see if they will do the same.
It just said hard starting on the paper. I haven’t heard anything else.
My KX450 starts fine but my son’s 250 takes forever to start (I just noticed). To my son…..it was normal. Just starts weird and has to be cranked a bit
Damn you got the paranoid side of me going! I made an appointment with my local dealer, but now I want to cancel. They asked me "did you buy the bike here", I told them no, and now this all got me paranoid lmao.
I just got a 2022 KX250 a month ago, and it is a bit finicky to start. It's actually not a big deal, it only adds a second or two to my start time and I'm not racing. Is there any possible damage that could happen to the bike if I just don't have the recall done?
