First SX in person, Seattle!

Hi Everyone, got tickets to our first in person SX in Seattle. Have my 10yo daughter (KR94 Fan) and my wife (JB51 Fan) with me (ET3 Fan). We have the fan fest tickets and a nearby hotel.

Any tips or things to make sure we get to on race day? Thanks!

Make a day of it and watch practice.

Pits are inside so that’s cool.

enjoy!

Have fun!

(and don't leave anything valuable in your car if it's parked anywhere near Downtown Seattle, possibly install one of those Catalytic Convertor protectors too, not trying to make this a political pissing match or anything of the like, it's common knowledge Seattle is a shithole these days and I'm trying to save OP the heartache of having his shit stolen)

Watch the weather. If it is cold and rainy... don't go early. Your kids will be freezing before the races even start. Seattle is consistently a miserable race to attend. But, live supercross is better than no supercross. Hope the weather is decent and you have a great time.

We have been lucky the last few years things have kept dry and the racing has been great.  Should it rain, hopefully your seats are far back enough to be under cover.  The atmosphere is usually great, the food is decent, just bring your wallet like anywhere else.  The pits are also indoors now, makes it more enjoyable and a place to pass time if the weather sucks.  If you are looking for a fun place to eat, look up Dicks Drive in.  It is a lot like the In N Out of the Seattle area, but the burgers are better and the people watching is top notch Wink   Definitely something to do if you are craving a burger with Seattle flair and people.

If you are looking for additional things to do, I would say try the waterfront area near the ferris wheel, there is a few fun things to do there also for the kiddos, Wings Over Washington is neat for kids and adults, the aquarium is right there, food, etc.  I am sure you will hear plenty of folks talk about how the downtown area of Seattle has gone down the toilet, they are right, you will see (the shopping district is basically gone).  The waterfront area will still have some of the ugliness, but it is nicer than most other areas downtown, it is a dump.

Have fun!

Bring lots of warm clothing layers maybe a blanket. I’ve gone multiple years, always forget a coat and shiver my nuts off in just a hoody. Gets real chilly right around when racing starts.

Smuggle in as many snacks as you can or pay for the most expensive hot dogs of your life

most years the stadium isn’t even close to full, so if your view from your seat isn’t good you can litterally sit anywhere you want imo. If someone has tickets to those seats then of course you have to move but if they’re empty seats no one really notices or cares. You get a better view and can keep track of the race better if you’re up on the second level.

Have fun, it’s a rad stadium

Thanks everyone. We are basically there for race day only, getting in late friday and leaving early sunday.  Planning to catch a cab from the ferry terminal to hotel which google says is about a 10min walk to the stadium. Hopefully the weather is  decent. Havent been to Seattle in almost 10 years. Looking forward to seeing the races in person!

Just becareful in that area of town daytime probably not as much a problem. Around the stadium during the event no issues.

I grew up in Seattle area and I avoid going downtown like the plague nowadays. And when I do go I'm more mindful of what and who's around more than before.

I was in America's favorite Pioneer Square yesterday during the day and into the evening. It seems a bit better than a year ago. Just use common sense as to things to avoid and watch where you walk(step, poo, etc).

One thing of note is you cannot bring in purses or backpacks from what I remember. They require clear bags that they sell around the stadium. Didn't know until we showed up and had to pay for storage and a clear bag.

Yes read the fine print stuff. Hopefully opening ceremonies are good this year.

Watch practice, before that, get there as early as you can, probably before 12. I made the mistake of not seeing when teams signing times are and with that i didn't get anything signed but i met McAdoo and Kayden palmer. Wear good shoes, eat a meal before you go and have a snack on the way so the only money you have to spend is getting dinner. Bring monster cans, 1 for each of you and empty them out to get in the pits and fan fest for free. Bring a rain jacket just in case, bring a sweatshirt around your waist. Bring a clear bag in, those are the only ones aloud. If you got one from a mariners game then bring that and that can hold the cans and all the posters and other stuff you guys get. Most importantly, have fun, soak it in and you'll want to go to another race as soon as you can. My first supercross was A1 this year. My first mx race was the last round of outdoors last year at fox raceway.

Yeah, I was at A1, thought i was wearing warm pants and a good sweatshirt, I was shivering at times. Next year I will try and bring a blanket that fits in a small pouch.

For those that go every single year, has it always been the case where you can just buy a nose bleed ticket, but then sit anywhere you want if it’s empty? I spent a lot of money on a couple tickets last year and yet before the 450 main we got up and moved to even better ones. I remember thinking, “why did I spend the money on these when we could’ve just got the basic tickets and sat wherever” but I remember as a kid in Norcal, I can’t remember if it was Arco Arena or the San Francisco Supercross, there was a dude standing there who physically looked at your ticket to make sure you sat in that section which is what makes me weary. That would suck to have to sit way up high.
So has it always been the case that you can kind of sit wherever if it’s empty?

This is very solid advice..  I forgot all about this.  Near the entrance, you will find a long line of women in line to rent lockers for a stupid amount of money because they could not bring in their purse (even smaller ones).  The security folks are hardcore about this rule, basically no bags come in.

We ordered the amazon special clear tote bag for our snacks and souvenirs. I'll leave my purse at the hotel. Thanks for all the tips everyone.

Knowing the weather in Seattle, yer best seat is the one in front of that big screen in the living room.

That's good news!

I went to Seattle last year and would be going again this year if I wasn’t out of town. We had an awesome time! Parked in Chinatown and had dinner at a great Chinese place then walked to the race. We parked in a well lit parking lot but still didn’t leave anything in the car of course. Seattle is definitely sketchy, but as long as you use common sense I’ve never felt unsafe there. Lumen Field is an awesome venue. I’m not much of a football fan but after SX I kind of want to see a Seahawks game live. Luckily it didn’t rain, and Tomac pointed right at our section on the last lap and everyone went nuts. Definitely an awesome experience you’ll most certainly enjoy!

I can't wait to go every year, it's usually a highlight of our year. Maybe that's because it's the only SX race that is close to the PNW...

Well it rains in Seattle 90% of the year so be prepared just in case. But yes, get there early and watch practice. Make it the whole day. Enjoy the sport.

Based on what it's been doing here lately and Local weather extended forecast says more rain next week. This week is like the first week in awhile we've had consecutive days in a row of sun.

This is what it's showing for next week. Weather around here can change rapidly early spring.
