I thought the obvious one would be Evil Knievel - and that would likely go for all of motorcycling, not just the little motocross corner.  Back in the early 70's, when the Euro imports were doing their best to help us locals learn how to pronounce "hoosk-var-na", there was a fast guy where we were whose name was Ivo Bortle .  He was a bit of a spark plug and the name seemed to fit perfectly.

What's funny is if you do some research he actually has 2 middle names. I was listening to a recent podcast he was on with a guy who is his Dad's buddy in NC who makes custom surfboards. He actually addressed the "Cooper" "Paul" thing. Webb said, his actual name is Paul Simon Cooper Webb. He said he got his balls busted about the Paul Simon part of his name so bad in pre-school by his classmates, that when he went into kindergarten he started going by Cooper, his third name. He said during that year he met his life long best friend Cornelius Crane Chase. Who kinda became his bodyguard from the mean kids in class, with only one demand. Cooper had to call him Al.
