Hello, Interested in your opinions and thoughts off suspension on the new -23 KTM frame.
I did not like it otd, but installed 6500 kit and revalved fork and shock after my weight and ability and i really like it now
With a lot back and forth with a big local suspension tuner, they had come up with that the new frame needs static sag to be around 40-42 with a ride sag around 107-110 and a 5mm or 2 lines on the forks in the clamp. Tried that compared to the recommended 38/105 and really makes a difference.
Any input?
23 300XC. Like the new frame riding it back to back with TE 300 and other carb and TPI bikes. Feels very light and precise. Engine probably has a little to do with that. Have 105mm sag, first line on fork. I will try your numbers and report back. Couple of riders that didn’t want to buy a new bike got off my 23 and said “I hate you”. High praise indeed.
I agree on 108-110 sag in stock form.
I’m currently running the Husky link with KTM shock and knuckle. With this set up I can run 105 sag and 2 lines on fork. Feels the same balence wise as the 110sag but sitting less in the stroke.
2023 300sx. No issues at all with the frame & chassis… bike does it all and does it well. I”m using 5 year old conevalve forks but otherwise, set sag & enjoy…I’m at 105 sag… & adjust fork according to track…
Im running Technical Touch (BE) KYB A-kit set for my ´23 350sxf. The new KYB shock for new model is based on Kawasaki 2020 or 2021 model I think. Im not sure if this kit is sold on US or not? My setup is for Expert level and 70kg.
I have used KYB A-kit for a long time. 2019-2022 my setup for shock was 39Nm spring and Sag 103mm. Static was 35mm.
New model shock came with 44Nm spring and recommended sag 105mm. Static sag is recommended around 45mm.
Forks springs were also changed from 4.6 to 4.8 for 2023
Only few rides with this setup, because of winter time here. First impression was good. I noticed more hold up with 2023 kit. Softer conditions it was good, but need some more time to test. I also tried KYB forks with new super trax shock, but I couldnt find good setup for me with this shock. One day it was ok, but another day I hated it. I even went back to stock shock and I felt like it was better. More consistent from track to track and different conditions. Supertrax was very good on some places like accelerating out of the corners with braking bumps, but on bigger braking bumps I couldnt feel confident with it. I tested this supertrax shock a lot. All the time changing clickers and sag and so on. When I put on 2023 KYB setup, then I felt confident rightaway. The bike was immediatelt more predictable and stable.

Got one coming in, but damn snow has slowed testing. We are starting out at 103mm sag. Also, there's new port design on shock piston. Our valving has changed, and I'll be plotting lev ratio curve. My bud back east has done a few, and said the hc has no more bleed shim in the stack as well. Depending on snowfall it looks like mid March before we'll have our spot back.

Following as well. New to ktm platform and just got a 23 300sx coming off a 21 kx450.
Can easily say this is the most fun bike I have ever ridden. The stock suspension has incredible bottoming resistance but seems to really lack everywhere else.
Running 5mm at the forks, 105 sag, 152 psi in forks and a couple clicks off the sport settings in the manual. I am 6 foot 185 lbs. I did install a 4.8kg shock spring.
I just placed an order for a valved set of the 6500 cartridges and trax shock through Ride JBI.
Very excited for everything to come in. Will report back once I have a couple rides on it.
I’m having the same feels with 2023 bike that it’s great one day at one day and completely off the next day at a different track. I’ll keep trying to find a better all around setting.
I recently put a set of the 6500's valved by JB on my 350. They are really good. Initially I was opening up the compression from his baseline settings to make them more plush. Then as the forks loosened up I slowly was working the compression back in. I seem to have settled at 2 clicks open on compression from his recommended baseline after about 10 hrs on them. Never touched the rebound once from his setting.
