I think he’s probably led fewer laps than any other race winner and Champion, but he gets the job done at the end of the race as the track gets beat to shit.
It’s wild to me that he doesn’t look fast or particularly smooth, or even aggressive. He is the spoiler, and indeed the Assassin.
Nice job tonight Coop

I didnt see the overall coming for Coop after the 2nd race. Its never over til its over.
So true. I picked him to win tonight, but I didn’t think it was going to happen either until late in that 3rd race
I think he may be closer to Eli and Chase than what shows, and he adapts well to changing tracks.
I also wonder if it looks like those 2 are significantly faster because he is saving himself until later in the races. Who knows? But I bet these guys are like well damn when he’s only 2 seconds back and the 2 lap sign comes out.
I didn't see it coming in the 3rd race either until he took off and passed Anderson. isn't that the 2nd time he's run Sexton down?

He might be the greatest late race charger/passer of all time
I think he has run him down for second place as well. In 2021 when Cooper was consistently running down Roczen late in the races you could see how frustrated and detuned it made Roczen. It may be having the same effect on Chase?
I’ve been more impressed with his “speed” lately. Granted, it’s coming when the tracks are shot. Chase has to think I’m the fastest, but why am I getting passed
It does have an animal planet feel. He can chase until the prey makes a mistake or fatigue happens. His fitness, race craft and desire are at the tip of the spear. All these guys are insane. Great season. * I hope this webb hits the nationals with the same desire.
I can’t remember which races but in 3 or so of the races this year he’s had very close to the fastest lap time. Never the fastest but he has more speed than people think, Sexton couldn’t get away from him or catch him multiple times so far
I wish I was as slow as Webb and 2 points away from the red plate.
The fire was there in the season opener presser. Webb responding to the question about being put in the 2nd row... "I'm washed up". I knew he was going to be a beast this season at that moment.
Haha. When I saw that I was like RV rubbing his hands together.
Coop is always good on less technical tracks. When they are super technical with a lot of whoops or big whoops his only chance is when people crash. His height AND the KTM work against him in the whoops. That’s not a knock on him, RC4 was the same way. I don’t know if it’s how light the front end is on the KTM’s, but there is something with them in Supercross. Malcom and Christian do not blitz whoops on them like they did other brands.
I’d like to see how Coop does on a Japanese bike again.
because hes not the fastest
Thanks for posting this, the continual narrative that Webb is slow is ridiculous.
As for "the Assassin " nickname, it's great... her reminds me of the terminator, he just keeps going and going until mission complete.
In the last 4 years Webb and Eli have swapped 450SX titles. Going along those lines it’s Webb’s turn. He looks feisty for sure.
I created this several years back.... the nickname is fitting.
I was thinking he looked bad in the whoops early on compared to others, but at the end it seemed like he figured them out. Cool to see the top three so close.
Pit Row
Does this dude even watch the races?
The turtle does it again, when the track gets rough, and people make mistakes, he capitalizes
forever fucking me on fasntasySX lol
Tampa main event under a tenth to Sexton and faster than roczen Tomac and AP. Weird world to be a half second faster than Tomac and Roczen and be called slow every weekend lol
Webb has to be the most disrespected, unappreciated and, just plain disliked two time SX champ in the history of the sport. Maybe it's because he interrupted Roczen's fairytale comeback.... Maybe it's because he rides the wrong color bike. Maybe,,,,, it's because of where he's from. I think he revels in whatever 'it' is. It almost seems like he prefers that perception of himself. Like he wants to rub the noses of all the 'clearly faster' riders and their fans, into a face full of 'how did that happen?' Personally, I dig the fight in that little dog.
He’s a slightly worse version of Dungey. Not a knock on him at all as Dungey is top 5 ever. Just similar in that nobody ever really talks about them, they don’t wow anyone with anything, but they’re always there and find ways to win. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Webb also became a 4 time champion.
Gotta win 3 first.
This is a terrible take. Last nights track was blown out in that last race and he won. Last week was the most technical track this year and he finished one second from the win.
Yeah because he has 2 now and 3 is the number after 2, but before 4. So that’s why he has to win 3 before he can win 4.
Webb is a scrapper and I like that trait in a person. His confidence is mistaken for arrogance. He doesn't bullshit and doesn't put all his shit out there (Tomac is like that too). I think part of the reason he is disliked is due to his faith...guys that profess their faith take a beating around here. Sad.
It just tickles me to no end that people keep discounting him...including supposedly "in the know" media "top dogs". ...and Coop just keeps Coopin...
I really hope he takes his 3rd SX title.....one of the reasons is just to watch peoples heads explode around here. LMAO.
I don't really root for Cooper - but he is looking really good. It will be great to have all three (or more) riders in the Chip hunt.
Agreed on all points. I really hope, like someone else mentioned, that he brings the same intensity to the outdoors. It would seem a shame to go through bootcamp and suffer like that and then fart around outdoors. I'd like to see him on another desNations team.
