Time for a stupid question for a first-time YZF owner. When I bought the bike, it came with a bag with the owners manual, a spoke wrench, and some black plastic thing that the dealer said was a cap for when you wash the bike. After I pulled the manual out of the bag, I have no idea where I put the bag with that plastic piece in it.
What is that thing? Do I actually need it? My Kawis never had such a thing.
On ktm’s they are caps for fuel line or electrical connections if you clean with the tank off
Has anybody switched to this motorcycle after being on 19-22 KTM 450sxf's? and only doing MX?
If so what do you honestly think?
good decision or bad? Please answer with an honest opinion if its better or worse....
I really like my Ktm 450 except i cant get it to stop rattling my hands numb, and my lower back pain exists after i ride it.... and i have noticed it has gotten progressively worse over the last year and i have been on 22 ktm 350 and 19 450sxf Both have stock suspension.... and its been resprung... but i dont think thats the issue.... I honestly belive its the damn mountain bike frame it has.
so in order try my best at fixing this.... i was gonna go out and purchase one of these bikes and mybe test back to back....
Well I rode my old 22 ktm 450 my buddy bought from me for a lap when he tried my 23 Yamaha. My feet were numb after a lap on the Ktm. Newer 23 husky I had wasn’t that bad, old gen ktm for sure vibrates a lot.

I spent 4 years+ on KTM FE 450 with Cone Valves, ride Moto only. With the KTM, I could ride 1xweek max as my injured knee would be hurting
Bought the '22 YZ 450 in Oct '21, couldn't believe how good the suspension is bone stock. Now I am riding 2xs per week.
And I just picked up my '23 YZ 450 yesterday
Biggest differences:
KTM is lighter, great cornering, neutral feel, suspension is ok.
YZ is a little heavier, turns well, handles the rougher tracks much better, motor is stronger, suspension is great.
Both good bikes, but I think your body will feel better on the YZ.
As far as "body feels" for us vets, this new yam has beaten me less than my Honda did for sure. I mean, I'm sore, but good sore! Got an outdoor ride in and one more indoor. I'm still definitely digging it!
Do these style clutches like full synthetic or regular oil? I'm not the easiest on clutches and some clutch company people told me to run regular oil on my Honda for longer plate life due to heat..
Yamalub or maxima?
I’ve been running yamalube . Anyone have updates when the gytr ignition n clutch cover will be available?
Anyone revalve their suspension yet? Would like to hear some reviews on revalves. Im currently looking into pr2 , enzo, factory connection. Im 215 all 3 say I need stiffer springs. Currently riding the bike I feel as though the suspension is really stiff as is, looking for a plusher ride n keep the great bottoming resistance.
Enzo is where you go for Yamahas and KYB
Your suspension probably feels stiff because you’re in the lower part of the stroke. It’s plush for me at 160 pounds.
I am 210lbs older vet B/C rider. First ride on east coast rough track with all clickers at stock settings, I did not use the full travel of the forks. With a tie wrap as the guide I had ~3" of travel left. Since it was first ride I didn't touch anything but if I did I would have went softer. Not so much for comfort but to attempt to utilize more of the stroke which perhaps would translate to plusher feel. Can't say for sure after a couple more hours but I don't anticipate needing stiffer springs.
I have a 22 and I love the set it and forget it suspension option. Not sure if i a 23 is a worthy upgrade. The weight and width doesn't bother me, I love the stability and the motor is plenty fast and tractable. I guess what I'm asking is would you do it again?
Blu Cru invasion here in Los Angeles. 5 friends all purchased new '23 YZ450F.
"Win on Sunday (Saturday night), sell on Monday"
It's been the best bike since 2019, just took people awhile to figure it out.
I've been riding KX450s since 2019, and rode the last gen YZ450F (a 2021) a few months ago. That YZ is a really, really good bike. I don't know if I would say it's better than the current Kawi overall. Both are amazing for different reasons. But, it was good enough for me to take a chance on the 23 YZ knowing it was slimmed and trimmed with a better cockpit.
I have RaceTech GoldValves for ours, I pray they have the data on them! I went with .48 front springs and stock rear. Lowers are out for DLC coating. Will report when we get it back together!
Is anyone selling after market plastics for them?
UFO plastics are coming end of April.

Sorry for the redundancy.....any vendors selling '23 air filters now?
Just got my '23 Saturday, 1 ride at Pala on Monday, was so itching to ride today I went into the garage and cleaned my rims/spokes again
No riding in Los Angeles for a prob a week (rain, snow at local tracks.)
I ordered un-oiled (because I use Notoil) Twin Air filters from Revzilla. But shoot it looks like they are now out of stock. Might be another vendor that has the Twin Airs available.
Which site?
Got to twin airs website. That’s where I got mine.
Anyone looking that can't find one, I'd probably sell my 23 at Daytona on Tuesday evening if you're looking to get into a 23. Not sure I'll get to ride much this summer and pretty much bought the bike for Daytona. Title in hand.
So pumped to ride this thing at Daytona tho!
Bought air filters off twin air site, and oem plastic at Motosport outlet
Did this materialise?
Eli is rocking a Cycra stadium plate...is that thing available yet?
