I’m hearing discussion of riders not returning for 2023 -or- changing their emphasis towards SMX including deciding to race our. MX series. It’s sounding like KR is going to race our MX series…is he racing SMX?
Another question: does Eli race the Nationals and go for the whole enchilada…SX + MX + SMX titles…?
At the same time, I know Joey plans on returning to WSX & racing the entire AMA SX season…does that mean this year & next…? I certainly hope so (last I heard this was San Diego…could things have changed?)
Bogle said he was definitely in.
McElrath
Seeley
Yeah, Bogle actually had a two-year deal with MDK before the season opener last year.
Cedric Soubeyras has re-signed with BUD, but they haven't signed any other riders yet.
I wonder if the same teams are competing? I know they weren't happy with some teams, but I guess none have been booted.
Most of the factory guys will be racing outdoors and smx. Hopefully the next b group of guys can go to wsx and make a lot of money.
I think colt or maybe Ken can go be a big name guy. Maybe even a guy like marv can race since his sx season was cut short and he is a free agent before wsx starts.

i think this year with so many contracts up, 2024 will see a lot of riders take on WSX. for now, at least this year i dont see too many big names.
this year i think they will focus on ironing out the kinks and focusing on more rounds and a world stage.
personally, id love to see Forkner go and do it for a year. just to refresh and rebuild confidence
Most contracts are up this year not next. I think the top 8 or 9 in points are up this year. Those guys will want factory rides I’m sure.
i think going WSX is a retirement plan, and Forkner would be way off that, he can still win races, so will get a good 250 ride if he doesnt stay with PC, (which i think he will)
it will be interesting to see who the teams that do both series (CLub and HEP) get to do the WSX ,
will guys like Clason and Phil be drawn, with the SMX payout keep them trying to get points,
they are up at the end of the season. so was more or less saying the same. sorry about the confusion. but yeah top 9 450 riders all have contracts coming up. be a wild silly season. plus a lot of 250 riders wanting to move up.
but the 450 class.. every one wants factory rides.. but a lot are on the back end of their career and coming into their 30's...
we are going to see a lot of riders hang the boots up over the next few years which i think is when we will see wsx start to do well.
i still think WSX would be good for these young kids to get gate drops and get a feel for supercross before diving into the AMA world.
Forkner already has a PC deal for next year. PC is all signed for next year, full.
Forkner has been wanting to go 450's for a long time but cant finish a season. i
he can do a WSX season and make more money in a few weeks than he can an entire AMA season. less risk due to less racers and more chance of wins to build on.
i know he wont go.. but i think a season of WSX would be a good refresher and change for him to get his groove back for AMA.
kinda like what Macadoo did when he come to AUS to do a season
Bogle will have to make a decision real soon since he is racing the Canadian motocross series that has conflicting dates for 1 round.
I only know of two people that may not return, and that’s Ken and Freezy but everyone else is in. Joey is out of supercross after Daytona, but he will be there.
He's doing both series.
Round 2 of WSX on July 22nd in France conflicts with Round 6 of the Canadian Nationals on July 23rd in Moncton.
They'll approach the situation when the time comes. We only have 8 rounds this year and my guess is that if he's in the hunt for the championship, he'll race up here.
If he's top 3 in WSX after Round 1 and out of the points up here, he'll most likely race WSX.
There's always a chance that he could be in the points for both series, but IMO, that's very unlikely.
C’mon, Mav…
Don’t you have a friend with a G650 that could give him a lift from FR to CA after the SX on Saturday-night?
Btw, I’m hearing there’s gonna be an add’l semi in the CA pits this year….
Tomac is 50/50 on SMX he said. Regardless he is already qualified to be at the SMX races so if he sticks with SX only he can still race them.
Why is he hanging it up for the season after Daytona?
Question is; would HRC let Colt go, though?
His team, Rick Ware Racing, is only funding through Daytona.
Pit Row
Colt is only contracted for sx. So after that he can do what he likes.
Colt just a seat warmer for Jett.
Kinda like Savatgy was for AC9.
sad truth, but would love to see Colt stick around with HRC or even go across to Yarrive Konsky team. Feel he would be a good fit and enjoy the teams atmosphere.
His sponsor is only funding him till Daytona.
Have we got an updated list of races? Looks like some good new venues announced, France, Germany, Canada
It's a sideshow, but cool we will be able to watch it. None of the big players will be there unless something drastically changes and that won't be this year. I predict it is done after this year as the ROI just is not going to be there IMO.
Kenny kinda has to go right?
after all that bitching that Honda wouldn’t let him go
WSX have $65 million over 5 years to draw down and several SX friendly, untapped markets to exploit.
Their bums on seats exceeded 80,000 over the 2 Round World Championship last year.
Seeing you mentioned it, the thing that seems like 'drastically changing' is the US AMA Outdoors.
When you have many of the senior 450 riders openly saying the travel, and pay, versus the risk of Outdoors is hard to balance, and that WSX makes sense and is enjoyable. This, coupled with the obvious broadcast/streaming, and track attendance issues with MX, you wonder who is really looking ahead. Well, I do.
We'll see about Nichols.
He told Konski he had an intractable injury and needed to sort that before signing then, next minute, he's Jett's place holder at HRC.
You obviously haven't been paying attention...AMA outdoors is part of the SMX series and will pay drastically more and are partners with SX on the TV streaming on Peacock...pretty sure that WSX doesn't have the $65M in the bank...they have an investor that says he is committed to the support of it but a lot has changed since that commitment...call me skeptical but I don't see WSX making it to year 5...
Still a sideshow.....and Australian rider at the end of his career at best. Again, I look forward to more racing, but it will be like watching Paris SX etc as a series during the summer. Top players and factory teams will not be in the game.
Pay drastically more then what? Wsx? Or more then it used to?
The winner will get drastically more. But the guys coming 16-20 in the 450s would be lucky to be earning $500 more for a weekend.
Some1 like mcelrath would be earning a load more in wsx. Getting podiums over 13th in ama
