I just had the software update last weekend and immediately went riding. I did not feel any changes in the fueling at all. My bike now has 15 hours on it and I just swapped out the stock chain and sprockets for a Renthal o-ring chain and twin ring 50t rear. The stock sprockets were shark finning and the chain was at max adjustment. The bike feels a lot closer in 2nd and 3rd. The hare scrambles I’m racing this bike in, 2nd was too low and 3rd was too high in the tighter stuff. This bike rips in the pasture sections

Also had the 6500 kit installed with Race Tech gold valved rear shock and SDI bladder. This bike feels like a trophy truck in the pasture sections.

I have had one major get off that knocked me out for a minute or so and the bike took some damage to the number plate mount on the triple clamp. It’s a little piece of plastic that holds the hour meter also. That thing is backordered until April so my number plate is held on with zip ties right now. Overall, this bike is a serious woods weapon.

Great info.   Two questions.   One, so you like the 50 rear sprocket?  Two, do you notice a big difference with the revalve on the rear?

I raced the Alligator FTR Hare Scramble in Ormond Beach this past weekend so I got to really feel it out. The 50 is better than the 49 but it still isn’t perfect. I wasn’t searching between 2nd and 3rd as much as I did with the 49 but it still feels like there’s a significant gap there. Top end, this thing is a monster.
the revalve is really good. The bike is amazing on the high speed stuff and the ass end always feels connected even through sandy sweepers. It’s still harsh through the palmetto roots but I’m working on dialing that in.

Any extra work after installing the head? TPS? Power valve?

Thanks

No.  Straight swap, currently running the stock CC dome.  They need to release tuning options for these damn things.

Is there a difference in the "new" one compared to the one available on the website. Did you notice any differences and are you running stock fuel?  I am waiting to order one

John Ross is tuning the 125’s already. He said 250/300’s shortly.

I want my own ability to tune.

If only there was something to make tuning easy.  I don't know, like maybe small, cheap brass pieces that could be easily swapped out instead of having to go back to the dealer or wait for some obscure tuner on the other side of the world to crack a computer code....

This is the one that’s on Phatheads site, right now it’s on standard chamber so no expected gains.  Doing fit testing and naturally putting it through the paces to ensure a quality product.    For anyone that orders now they will get an updated chamber shipped for free once more dyno testing and tuning can be performed.  With the model being new and me having the 300 it worked perfect for him to be able to do testing with my bike.  I put about 2 hrs on it this weekend, next up is coordinating me taking my bike to his shop so we can do some dyno testing.  I just want the ability to tune when we do so.

fyi- I don’t work at Phathead so for finer details would email Luke.   Although I will relay anything pushed my way as he is my cousin.

Just to make sure...300 SX right?  Would be interested to see what you find on the rear.   I have the 6500 on the front and it is great, but still searching on the rear... mainly high speed is a tad harsh.

Good thing our cars and trucks stuck with carbs, they run better.

Nope. As expected, direct swap.   I even reused my gaskets and head bolt copper gaskets as I know I’ll be removing it again for chamber testing.  I’ve suggested some mild changes as for logo placement etc to fit the KTM wire harness.  ( basically the wire harness blocks the logo) but all else has been fine.

Where is everyone running there fork height?

Coming off a 21 kx450 with very well setup suspension.

Only have 3 hours on the 300 so far but it just seems really busy in the front end.

185lb vet a.

Running 152 psi in the forks and running the standard clicker settings from the manual.    Going to try the sport settings tomorrow.

Wanted to get some time on the suspension before sending it out.

The Acerbis magnetic swingarm guards finally came in for the new bikes. I loved the way they fit on my old TPi so I’m happy these made it in before I rode the bike to save the swingarm. The magnetic part is awesome too as you can pop them off to wash the bike. There is a rubber tether like the kickstand one that you just have to undo. The fit and finish is FAR better than the OEM ones too.

Where did you find the swing arm protectors ? I searched and nobody seems to have them listed on their site, including Acerbis. Part # ?

I’ll update with the part number when I get home. I got them direct from Acerbis.

Did any of you guys previously have a 20-22 bike before this?  I started at the same PSI for the forks that I ran in the old bike and it was way too soft.  I ride mostly off-road and weight 165 and was running 127 in my '20.  I ended up at 145 on the 23 and it still didn't feel super stiff.  I also was running the compression almost all the way in.  This was riding a mild moto track and some woods.

The bike RIPS though haha!  Man I love this thing and I feel like I'm getting pretty close to getting it all dialed in.  The bike feels super plush and it definitely rails the turns better than my old one.

Put a set of 6500’s in it and have them setup…. You’ll never look back. My 300 is close to seconds faster than my 23 350 with same suspension setup. You’ll have fun lining up 4-strokes coming into corners and powering past them on exit 👍

Oh trust me I've been tempted by them.  And I'm not complaining about the forks, I was just surprised they are taking a lot more pressure.

Yeah I was riding with a bunch of buddies and one was on a 350 and he said it was like I had a turbo lol.  We swapped bikes and it definitely was lacking in power but still fun to ride.

20 forks are different from 21-22. 21-22 are plusher and the 23 aer seem similar to 21-22, but seem to work better on the new chassis.

Yeah I knew there were updates to the fork and from what I remember was that the mid valve was updated. My suspension tuner updated mine with some other valving changes and they had really good hold up after that. I wasn’t feeling that with the new forks which threw me for a loop. They were definitely more plush though. I’ll call my guy tomorrow and see what he thinks.

My 21 250sx stock psi is 151 per the manual and that's what I've been running in mine. Older forks took lower pressure.

Beta 300 with a big bore kit will eat this FI pumpkin for lunch. Plus the Beta has good suspension out of the box.
