Better weld more brackets to the frame. This should fix any issues.

100%. I use to fear for Ricky's life back in the day but fortunately, it turns out he was made of rubber!

IF...(and I really hope so) Chase can not seriously hurt himself, I think this process is actually making him better long term. He knows is now working on rougher tracks, I am sure Honda are filming and analysing Eli and Coopers' evolving lines and strategy over the race and how the track condition affects their choices. All will be beneficial to him long term.

I also now wonder if the bike setup isn't a factor. That front end pinging him off each time...?

If it was purely Chase making mistakes, they wouldn't all be the same front-end-related issue, would they?

Ricky was tough as nails. I remember him eating shit in the whoops on his Kawi in his rookie 250 season and running to his bike and getting straight drilled in the head by Albee. Also A1 his first year on the Factory Honda when he went down on a kinda dragon back obstacle chasing Larocco on his badass "Jack in the Box" Honda cr250 and went over the bars. Only to have his footpeg puncture his stomach not to far from his junk! There's a picture out there that shows blood, skin, and some material from a Fox 360 pant on the peg of his bike. I'm not sure but I think he was back the next race? Or the loop out in Detroit when he went wide open of the single to the start straight? He got up in almost last, bent bike, missing visor and all and damn near caught Ramsey for the win. I always thought it was his build. Short, stocky, and muscular like a pittbull that helped him survive those crashes, and his undeniable toughness. I think taller guys like Pastrana, Windham, Larry Ward etc. were more susceptible to injuries because of their body types. Ricky could duck and roll out of anything. Chase isn't built like RC, he has been lucky with a few of the crashes he's had. But one day he won't be.

Dead nuts on yer perspective. Deegan is built the same way.

It’s a vodoo doll Austin has kept since 2019

It’s the bike. Kenny left for Suzuki mutilated, Eli couldn’t stay up on the thing years ago, Barcia’s star faded on it, Trey literally almost died every time he touched the track, and we call him Tim “Gumby” Gajser.

can’t wait to see Chase on orange. And anyone who thinks Jett is moving up with a championship trajectory, just realize the history of Honda since 04, and how those guys I mentioned above were all touted to do big things too. Honda hook is real.

The broadcast did him dirty with the highlights of his crashes as soon as he crashed tonight. They missed a bunch of stuff of the races but that "reel" was in the starting blocks ready to get on air...

After 6 races, Chase is only 7 points behind with all his setbacks since the beginning of the year. 11 races to go and 286 points to be attributed. His mistakes have sadly become a pattern but he/they will figure it out. His riding is way better than last season. To me, he's "scared" to switch lines during motos because he feels he might lose time. Tampa's crash was a line choice mistake. Get off the main rut in the whoops when you skim them. Tonight, he wasn't careful enough. He overjumped that triple but still kept his angle to turn just like if he downsided it. On that particular action, when you see you gonna OJ, keep the bike straighter and go turn a bit wider to be safe. The force on the tire and forks was too high not to lose the front right there. You could explain that as respecting the track and being more on your toes.

Eli doesn't look as comfortable and as dominant as 2022 yet. Webb is showing some of his 2021 craft but I need a couple more races to see if it will last. He's been up and down so far this season maybe not in terms of pure results but in terms of quality of riding.

Those 3 guys are within 7 points. If they don't improve from where they are today, they won't win the championship. Seems to me like Eli is fighting the bike to some extent. Whoops aren't as good as 2022 (Tampa vs AP), turns also, and we saw him stopping in practice clicking stuff around a lot. Webb is a great racer but will need to find a bit of raw speed on track he doesn't like. Chase will have to stay on his wheels...

We're 1/3 of the series in. Time to debrief, adjust, make a couple small changes on the bikes and training/riding programs to get a few % of improvements. It's all it takes at this level...

I definitely agree regarding the broadcast having his screw up reel teed up. That was super ridiculous to show during a race. What’d we miss an entire lap?

Good grief, it's two wheels it can tip over. It's even happened to me, honest. He's fine, will be a podium guy for the next near decade.

Why does it always happen again towards the end of the race then? He’s a rookie compared to Tomac & Webb at 450 at the highest levels sx. We are talking tiny percentages sexton just doesn’t last at that level without making mistakes, unlike the more mature guys. Sexton will naturally become stronger in time, then Jett & Hunter will Come along…

In all sports it’s not the player that has the prettiest swing or throws the ball the furthest who wins. It’s the athlete who is mentally a master. Heck Chase should know, he was comparing himself to Jordan at the start of the year.

I was wondering who has a history of falling a lot besides Chase? Maybe they are just highlighting it a lot now because he’s supposed to be the “next guy.” Chase does seem to struggle with falling while leading. Anyone have stats on falls for riders in the first few years of going 450?

It’s AC 2.0. AC had to slow to a crawl to prevent laying it down. Now AC is just doing the laps.

Chase's riding style is all about putting a ton of legs pressure on pegs to get nasty traction and flying out of corners like a rocket. Same kind of thing with the front brake. Sometimes he get too much traction and the bike twist and kicks him. Especially late in the race when he get a bit tired. The dark side of his bright riding style and body transformation.
Just my theory.

It is funny though that they had all of his crashes lined up ready to play for when he inevitably throws it away again, lol

In my opinion it's his technique. He's able to ride faster than anyone when the track is in prime conditions, but later in the race around the 15 minute mark when it's at its roughest point, then add how far he rides over the front of the bike, I think it's like riding a bicycle and leaning over the front of the bars.. any inconvenience and that thing is getting squirley. Obviously he's in incredible shape and his core strength is through the roof, but combine that with mental fatigue of hitting your marks every lap and the smallest of mistakes can make you crash. Tomac, Webb, Anderson, Roczen, Barcia, etc have more of a neutral body positioning where their weight is a bit further back on the bike compared to the way Sexton rides.

but what do I know? You tell me what's going on, Vital experts.

Centre of Gravity !  To be in control you need to be in front of the centre of gravity when on a bike.  When you accelerate the centre of gravity moves forwards when you brake it move back.  When accelerating you need to be in front - When braking you need to be behind. It is about being in control of the forces.  If you are the wrong side of the centre of gravity those forces will control you.

Mental edge , powers of concentration , performing under pressure and one own worst enemy .....

Since the 2017 Hondas I've seen some strange crashes, Gasjer 2 times on it and obviously the more recent one, Roczen and Sexton, all of them had some weird front end issue pitching them forward.

That being said Hunter and Jett are fine but that is a 250f maybe that weight and rotating mass makes the 250 perform more neutral.

Could be the rider but I can't help but notice, with Sexton he really knows how to crash in a spectacular fashion out of nothing, he just gets launched off the bike like a ragdoll constantly.

Stew had RC, Dungey had Villopoto, Eli had Dungey, and now Chase has Eli. It's a learning curve one generation passes to the next, or so it seems...

I like the 2-3 year pattern the young riders have to learn while racing the dominate guys, before becoming that. We've been lucky with who the kids get to look up to.

Is it just me or does he appear to always be looking down at his front fender?

i have taken hundreds of pics of him and 95% of them he appears to be looking straight down. I've been saying it since last year. That's why he doesn't seem to find fast lines late in races. You ever notice pro quarterbacks on the sidelines looking at still photos? look at some stills of Sexton!!!!!!!

Is it really a bike issue if you can run 90-95% of the race flawlessly, with the mistakes always happening at the end of the race?

It's the dreaded Honda hook. Watch many of his crashes and they are very similar. He even mentioned it just happened.

Great point.

Anaheim 1 and Houston last year come to mind. What round was it that he hooked coming through a tight left-hander and it spit him onto the next tabletop?

It’s insane how he gets into the lead and if he’s leading comfortably in the back half of the race, we just all wait for the inevitable. He loses more of those races than he wins.

His crash into Eli at Washougal might have been sighting related.

One of the most idiotic "comebacks" ever.

Should no professional athlete for any sport be talked about/analyzed by its fans? Like what are you gaining from saying this? The guy has a proven history of crashing and losing the lead at the end of races for WHATEVER reason. It has cost him countless wins at this point.

But u r right...we shouldn't talk about it. We should just sit down, shut up, and have no thoughts or comments about the events we attend/watch.

Laughing I never understood that comeback.

It would be like any of us saying how many lives as he saved, how many people has he arrested and put behind bars, how many court cases has he won, how many businesses has he built and sold, etc.

It's completely irrelevant.
