Anyone have one yet? Local dealer has one and I'm really considering buying it. Not a lot of info (youtube wise) on them. My son has a KX 65 and i really want to ride with him.

Not really any changes from the 2021 to the 2022, other than graphics. Read the tests of the 2021.

Excellent bike. But as stated basically the previous year model with very slight changes. Buy one and enjoy.

I picked up my '22 two weeks ago. I love it so far but I only have 1 hr on it but with that being said the motor is leaps and bounds better then my 2020 was. Only complaint right now is the suspension seems pretty harsh for me (143lbs). Hope this helps.

I'm smaller too and my 19 was nearly un-rideable for me suspension wise. (150lb - vet slow rider). Seems to be a theme on the Kawis they work better stock for heavier riders.

I'm a 64 year old B level vet rider. I have a 21 KX 250 and my suspension was way too stiff, and I couldn't get the sag low enough with the stock spring.

I weigh 151 so this is normal for any new Kawi I've bought.
So I just send it off to FC and let them work their magic. My suspension is awesome now.

I've always been happy with their work

Yes my 2020 was the same way. I've been going to KB5 for my suspension needs. I will send mine out after about 6hrs!

Not a lot of listed changes, but engine internals have a lot of minor changes to help the durability issues they had in ‘21. More than just the updated primary clutch cover all of the 2021 guys got.

They didn’t list them as changes for ‘22, but a friend that’s internal at kawi filled me in on a lot of it. technically they’re “updates” so they didn’t have to list them as “changes” for 2022

The target group seems to be aggressive 145-175# riders. @195# I needed stiffer springs.

Actually I'd say 160 lbs minimum.
I'm 151, and on my 21 I backed the rear spring off as far as I could. Still couldn't get the sag I needed. FC put a lighter spring on it.

I bet the KX250 is a rocket for you lightweight guys. I am about 225 on my 21 KX250X and it is a great bike but feels a little slow to me. It's my first 250 4 stroke after 20+ years of 250 2 strokes and about 6 months on a 450...

does anyone have the service manual on pdf for the 21-22 KX250 or know where i can find one?

The cam lobes on my bike are facing an odd direction when at TDC. exhaust points at 11 o’clock and intake points at 3 o’clock. The dots line up on the surface of the head too. I’m used to the previous gen models and I expected the lobe’s orientation to be the same or similar, but this is definitely off.

I concur with all of the others that noted the stiff suspension. I am 150 without gear. I put my first couple of hours on mine yesterday, and it's crazy stiff. Rear bucks off of braking and acceleration bumps quite a bit. I was able to get the sag set, but the static sag is more than double what it should be (~87mm). I'm going to send it to Pro Circuit soon and have them do their thing.

What fork and shock spring rates are you all running, and how much do you weigh?

Seems that the racetech calculator is a bit off, it’s saying stock fork spring rate is good for people up to 210lbs and fairly fast. Kris Keefer is also saying this on his website and his podcasts, but then I see some posts here that people around 200lbs had to go up spring rates.

I’m trying to figure out what rates I should buy.

I’m 190lbs and I’m on the stock fork springs and went up one rate on the shock. Been working great for me after a revalve. Stock was too stiff for my liking and a lot of it had to do with the valving IMO. I tried softer springs with stock valving and it was OK but once I got it valved I went with the springs I’m on now at the tuners recommendation and it’s been killer.

If you’re in Tahoe I’d recommend Marc Uhlan (M21 suspension) he’s in Reno and has my stuff pretty dialed.

Yeah go for it. The bike has great reviews for riders that hv slow reflexes, no cornering talent, ovr weight - fat. But that helps when you bounce off the ground .  great handling just ask Mitches riders.

That sounds about right on these bikes. That’s how the 450 looked at least.

Thanks for the info. I read some dramatically different opinions saying the bike feels soft for 175lbs average rider, than others saying the bike feels stiff enough for 200lbs fast rider, and everything in between.

Personally, I notice a stiffer setup stock as well, and I'm a little over 220lbs. Idk why some of these bikes feel soft and other stiff, but mine feels stiffer than the 2017 YZ450f I sold a year ago.

I really like this bike from initial ride, no track time yet though.

Manual says you can run conventional, semi-synth, or full synthetic 10w-40. What are you guys running, what does this bike like??

I get the oil change kit off Rocky Mountain and use the Kawasaki synthetic 10-40. It’s like $17 for everything you need.

Stock valving seems stiff for sure. On my 2022 KTM 250 SX, I put a new spring on the rear and pumped up the forks for my weight, and this Kawi feels stiffer stock.

Who is this bike set up for stock? Adult Pros, and B riders over 210lbs? Race tech says for me to drop a rate in the fork, and I'm 225lbs/B rider!! I actually like it as is, but I'm wondering why it's so stiff??

Does anyone have a picture of the cam lobe direction. I know the cams are offset but I am worried and suspect a cam gear may have spun and unfortunately service manual does not show an image of the cam lobe directions, just shows the timing marks. Thanks in advance

Mine just spun. I don’t have a pic of the direction, but I could not get it timed. There was also some light contact on overlap when turning crank by hand. When I pulled them off, and tried to align cam hole with lobe hole, it looks of about 1.5-2 teeth, so my EX lobe was almost at the 12 o’clock positionIMG 1928.jpeg?VersionId=HceN5.T3PrbpZqQfMrx

@ that weight you should be two rates stiffer front and rear. Riding in the wrong part of the stroke will make it feel too stiff.
