Tomac's 5th overall...

Last night’s result was better than A2…so, there’s always that. 

If last night was one of Eli’s typically few mediocre results? Well, he’s going to be hard to beat if he continues his win ratio. 

Tomac still showed amazing speed but crashed trying to get around a roadblock (jk). Last night he looked slow and even faded. KR flat-out beating him? Come on man!

First race he has looked slow and faded.

If you actually can’t see the difference between the two you should probably watch a different sport

Im just glad it appears that it's not a given Eli will win or podium. The variety of results keeps the championship exciting. Nobody wants to see a rider struggling or worse, crash, but us as fans need the points chase to remain tight & interesting.

Oh I get it. If I point out the obvious that Sexton podiumed and Tomac didn't yet Sexton rode like a goon and Tomac rode brilliantly conservative. That makes perfect Vital sense to me.

False. Tomac had the Supercross championship sewed up in 2017. Then he was leading in points and he crashed second to final round. Tomacs pant fell down. He Stumbled trying to zip them up. Meanwhile Dungey gone and on his way to supercross champion. He was fazed out by his crash, and failed to pull through. 

His pants fell down at like A1 that year. He’s a completely different guy today then he was then. He was a completely different guy from when his pants fell that year to when he cross rutted at met life that same year. Eli is an ever evolving person and that’s cause he does what he wants to do. 

Dungy won titles with “bad night” finish’s of fifth.

Seriously though, you know Tomac isn't worried and can pretty much guarantee he has more wins in him.

I know some will whine about him, but it was cool seeing Webb on the top step again too, hopefully it's a confidence boost that will keep things interesting.

This is the second time this year a rider was chocked in a race? It first happened to Deegan at the Anaheim Futures race a few weeks back. How is the Ama, Feld, and track crews missing these chocks sitting in plain site on the track? This is madness and makes our sport look Bush League!

I was working the sand section and I didn't notice him all night. 

The dude has been on a good result tear for so long, a mediocre one was bound to show up at some point.

Watched the race again last night.

In the prerace BS, they asked him about the number of wins.

He said, again, that those numbers don't mean a thing.

It's the title he's focused on.

(How many more times do they need to keep asking, before that finally sinks in ??)

Then fast forward to him in the tunnel, looking out at it beginning to rain. 

You can easily see it in his eyes, calculating the situation.

Slippery one line track. 

Just finish the race, get out of there without any crashes, drama, etc...

Focused on the title.

Let the announcer's babble on about passing RC, and Stewart's win tally. 

I think that either 1) sickness or 2) not wanting to push it in the rain are what most likely contributed to his result.

Him being 3rd in qualifying and just a couple tenths off of Chase shows that he wasn't having some massive set-up issues or not figuring out the track. A sickness could've caused his total drop-off in pace around a third of the way through the main event. He was right on Kenny's tail for the first several minutes, and while a win looked impossible, he seemed to have the pace to eventually get Kenny and AP. He totally dropped the anchor and lost several seconds to them in a matter of 3 or 4 laps. The rain explanation also makes sense. The track was still dry in qualifying and that dirt was pretty slick once the rain came down, so I could understand him wanting to settle for a top 5 and maintain the red plate.

It's very possible he just didn't have that edge or wasn't comfortable for whatever reason.  5th is not bad in that situation and onto Oakland.  

.if only there were a small army of guys running around with video cameras and pushing them in front of star riders and asking them "How was your ride?"

Strangely, moto-media strikes again and our sport's biggest star right now cruises around in 5th and I've yet to see an interview. It's mind-boggling how these "journalists" work in our sport.

He seemed off and a bit sick on the interview before the race plus his bike didn't look great on that track.

Maybe he knew it wasn't going to happen from the beginning.

I seem to recall a pic of Tomac and Roczen fluing private and holding their kids for the camera.  Last year or the year before?  Maybe that was COVID related.....

Too much pressure to break Ricky's Record. He is riding for fun/spotlight and his legacy at this point. He did not look like he was having fun.

“It was a bit of an off day for my riding. I struggled with finding a comfort zone during the night show, with the conditions being on the edge of slick and decent traction. Overall we learned a lot about those conditions for the future, and I'm happy to still have the points lead.”

Well, we were off a little in the main. We had a bad taco earlier and we all had a stomach issue back in the rig bathroom. We all made it outta there and all of us learned a lot about it.

Sometimes you have it, some times you dont, its a long season if you make every round.
