True. Kinda crazy how much skill whoops require that even world class riders struggle after months of practice.
To be fair that was a long ass whoops section too.that didn't help
It think it comes down to maturity and experience for Tomac. He knows when to push and when not to. It’s not always about setting the fastest lap every single lap.

But relative to everybody else he was faster. As shown by getting to finish line first. He seemed to lose less time than the others as the track degraded.
Deagan and Vaille looked great. Crazy that deagan looked so composed while a two time champ and veterans made mistakes around him. I'd say they are both pretty happy with the night.
Jmart showed some fight towards the end. But didn't have much speed. But I'm sure he is happy to still be uninjured after the first round.
Mossimen was the one I was most disappointed with. Was hoping he would be the main challenge to hunter.
Smith looked really fast, but hit the ground again while moving forward. With a good start he seems as fast as hunter.
Is it just me or did Max Anstie rip the shit out of the corners on the honda.
I was tracking Mosiman, his pace was actually really good. Had a bad start and took a few minutes to settle in.
My observations from the night after watching in person:
I was excited to see how Vialle would do and he didn’t disappoint. Really great looking/efficient riding style and corner speed. Really only lost time in the whoops which was encouraging.
Anstie looked really strong. Great corner speed and impressive in the whoops for the most part.
AP was looking pretty spicy before the restart and looked good overall to me before dropping back a bit.
Couldn’t believe nobody was switching their line to Tomac’s in the sand. Lap after lap he would pull away. I think Chase made up time on one or two laps taking the inside towards the beginning of the race.
Chase looked awesome but I think he went for the pass attempt a little too early. He was right on Tomac’s wheel and had the speed but lost ground and never made it back up after a pass attempt when he wasn’t quite close enough.
Craig had an early crash on the over/under which I’m sure took the wind of of the sails a bit since he was in the back of the pack. But he’s not looking too great to me. Jumping the rhythms but just doesn’t look aggressive.
Scary crash for DF. Really scary to see someone motionless. He was out for sure right away. Was worried of spine/neck when he didn’t move but glad he’s good to go for the most part.
I know, just pointing out that according to the experts, he looked his worst on his fastest lap lol.
Rc "the only guy who can beat chase sexton tonight, is chase sexton"
Eli Tomac wasn't listening..
If Kenny would ride as angry and motivated with the same intensity he has when arguing with trolls on his Instagram account he could possibly pull off a win.
Agreed... last night reminded me of the third Dallas race in 2021. Webb with the points lead, but Roczen totally had him covered in qualifying and the heat race. It looked like he was going to win and get back to challenging Webb for the title, but Webb figured it out and managed to run him down in the main and extend his points lead... it felt like the nail in the coffin for that season. If Roczen couldn't beat Webb that night, no way he was making up a ~20 point gap with 5 rounds left.
Obviously, last night's round is a bit different in that it's only the fourth race so a lot more can happen as the season wears on, but it was definitely similar in the fact that Tomac looked like the odds were against him to win but he still pulled it off. Probably hard to swallow for Sexton... he can't blame it on a crash or bad start, he just got straight-up beat on a night where he probably thought he had the field (including Eli) totally covered.
Man.. Id love nothing more then to see both Lawrence brothers take the title in each coast. Has that ever happened? Brothers winning a title the same year?
Other than James and Mookie I don't recall any brothers that have both won a title. Let alone in the same season.
Lots of fast brothers in motocross though, right? Martins, Jones, Pomeroys, Allessis, Hills, Grossis, Bradshaws....
Forgot the Wankets, plenty of brothers. Hahns, Sipes, Emigs?....
The King brothers, but thats motocross
Pit Row
Sun bros, Vohland bros. Tedesco bros...
i grew up watching them both!! amazing riders
I never knew Fro"s brother raced professionally. I think both Daniel and his brother Vincent both raced pro.
Not dirt bikes but Marc and Alex Márquez are the only brothers to win world championship in the same year in MotoGP n moto3. Sam and Alex Lowes also champ bros with Sam winning world supersport and Alex winning British superbikes in the same year
There was actually three King brothers that raced.
Marty and Mike Tripes.
Though Mikey mostly dabbled in the 250's occasionally.
