About time someone made a realistic appraisal  of what those who have no clue, are pushing for.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-11640855/Wyoming-set-BAN-sales-new-electric-vehicles-2035.html

Poll

If this happened , would you go to live there , or any other state that did the same.

I want no part of any electric car, and banning ICE is incredibly stupid, but I also dont think that banning electric is the right answer. I think government subsidies are BS and that if a product is good enough it will flourish in a free market. If electric has a place within a certian sector of the public then good for them. If not then it can die a natural death. I have no interest in electric cars so this would neither encourage or discourage me from moving there. Ive been there on a street bike and it was beautiful country.

Wyoming is on the list of states I'll be seeking political asylum to if this liberal progressive destruction of the United States continues.

It's fucking beautiful and peaceful there. It's a place that rewards personal capability and contribution rather than the blue places that placate to softness.

I can’t believe a state that would elect Liz Cheney to represent it could do anything so sensible to preserve its core industries.  Good on them for coming to their senses in both cases.

Sidenote:  The skiing at Jackson Hole is out of this world!  😎

Beautiful place. But I aint a fan of being told what to do. Let me have a supercharged V8 for fun, and an electric commuter I aint gotta deal with oil changes or wait to warm up in the winter. Pros and cons to everything.

California is a beautiful state, I’ve met a lot of great people there, just don’t understand the government.

Wy. Is more beautiful it has some green and some water, no salt on the rds in winter tho. And no women. I hope Wy. Doesn’t install 200 acre solar panels in beautiful valleys like other states. There’s a lot  of hardware poisoning the earth, looks horrible and animals can’t get vegetation or grace. Wy. Is right batteries r poison  for the earth- Turtle island.

This is nothing more than overreach in the opposite direction. Let the people decide if it's right for them and leave government out of it.

Dont disagree, but its been 20 years since i visited the west coast, and i am pretty sure its not better now.

The amount of folk leaving is as good an indicator as anything.

The government there is at odds with the world and nobody seems to realise.

What is Wyoming like?

It's one of the least hospitable places in America, that's why it's so sparsely populated.  Sure, there are some beautiful scenes that you'll see in photos on calendars etc., Wyoming certainly has some beauty.... but a LARGE part of it is windswept high desert that is brutally cold in winter and brutally hot in the Summer with high winds year 'round.

Anyone fantasizing about living in Jackson Hole better have a lot of zeros on their tax return each year or plan on living a very simple existence in a small living space.

I hope that helps answer your question, I mean you started the thread to get feedback on what it's like right?

It was to see if it was viable to expect that people would move there to protect their right to travel?

I suppose i could have asked ' what would it take to leave where you are' , but it was more about the fact that they seem prepared to go a different path, even if it isnt likely it will happen.

We have local government here shutting down cities for fun with stupid traffic schemes that are killing everything business wise that Covid hasnt already claimed, and people are losing their shit over it.

Honestly, its fucked, overrun with 'refugees'  , getting worse all the time, inner cities are watching US TV and following it as a manual, knives, guns, wheelie boys, happening all over.

Cant get a hotel cos they are full of Albanians.

Where i am is still nice, but 20 mins away are cities i no longer recognize or want to go. So i dont.

The only people i hear talking in the supermarkets are eastern europeans.

My  son wants to move out of his nice village as the outskirts are overrun with traveller sites, and the pikey scummer kids and parents are ruining the job.

Nobody knows what a fucking woman is any more.

We had a plan to move to Canada half made, but that is looking like its dead, because they are fucked too.

We have a WEF installed PM and they want to introduce ( and are doing) 15 minute cities.

I am sure there are loads of people who think otherwise, but maybe their diet of smashed avacado on toast , and a pumpkin latte might mean they dont live in the world i live in.

Pretty much the same as everywhere else, its a manufactured shit fight, being funded by people intent on chaos.

I understand the aversion to vehicles that directly undermine the state's profitability, but I disagree with any government that tries to tell me what I can or cannot buy. This wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me, but it is one strike against Wyoming. I am just as discontented with California's forthcoming ban on gasoline cars and I plan to leave the state because of it (and various other reasons).

I have a friend who retired, bought some land just outside Sundance and built a new house up there.    They lasted 2 winters, sold the place and moved back here again.

No way Id move to that Antarctica stuff.  Dizzy

It's a stupid idea done just for show. Pretty soon the manufacturers will build less and less of ICE

vehicles just because big states like CA won't let them sell anything else and they sell a shit ton here.

So they will focus on what they sell, electric. IF you can't sell electric, you'll have nothing to sell.

Maybe a very small selection but virtually no choice for the average buyer. Then what, you buy in the next state over?

Stupid people doing stupid things.

I'd be terrified to drive an electric car across Wyoming.

Big states like California will have very little to do with OEM’s no longer selling ICE vehicles. China, Europe and India plus natural progression to a better product will dictate the ICE demise.

Once? Twice? Had you lived there? I've experienced 10 mpg less than my average due to headwind. Would never own an EV if I still lived in Wyoming.

Went snowmobiling one year and I 80 was icy as usually so everyone was stopped, the wind was pushing my truck and trailer across I 80 when it was in park. Shocked
