Not really factory but Star Racing hired that Moreas, he didnt even earn a point. Cody Cooper was a bust this year when you think about how supercross went for him.

I heard that his spot was basically bought there for him by his dad.

I really didnt want to read all the post's but if no one had mentioned Jason Anderson was supposed to sport KTM the last few outdoor races and did not get the chance, not quite positive why... But he could of brought KTM back into the spot light...

and tommy hahn part of the factory honda squad was really lack luster. although as we've seen lately, maybe a non-factory ride is better for some guys. less pressure?

Who was the dude who rode his works CanAm in to a swimming pool? I probably wouldn't keep a guy around who drowns his equipment.
Langston the sociopath did bad,, just as he did to some female rider at Glen Helen open practice..I heard about in Cycle News a while ago,, facts may be wront..,,,, broke her hip or leg...... Bonds was hauling till then..

Regardless of how Bonds did on a MX track, he's now a champion at WORCS racing. I don't think he can be put in the category of "worst" factory rider, especially given that championship. Also, if he was competing for podium spots at any time during his MX career, that should also exclude him from being in the running for such a dubious distinction.

Same with Josh Coppins to Factory Suzuki back in 2000. Ben Townley had to pay his way as well when he started with Phase Suzuki in the GP's.

He was supposed to ride for Hart & Huntington's supermoto team a couple years ago......It never happened.
I actually have one of his H&H Jerseys.
I hear different things (rumors) but none of them are reliable enough to repeat

I will call bullshite on this one!

Cody's Dad passes away years ago (when he was on 80's) and he stopped racing for few years....No money.... Cody spent his own hard cash to race there in 08.

Rumor is he has his old Factory Honda ride back here for 2010.

Bobby Bonds and the Langston take out pretty much signaled the beginning of the end for his MX career. It was definitely a chickenshit looking move on GL's part coming down that hill at Hangtown. Just looked unnecessary. However, Bonds didn't hang around year after year sucking the life out of a full factory ride like the frail boys of today. So, might as well leave him out of this one.

My vote for one of (not the only) the worst factory riders would be Hepler. Can he just not handle the trickness and power of a full on factory ride or what? Super talented and ultra fast, he literally cannot keep his ass off the ground long enough to accomplish anything.I actually feel sorry for him. Did the limo lesbo Shift ad finish him off? Seems like one of the nicest riders out there. Back in 1980, he would not have had his factory ride more than one year.

I think they were talking about Moreas because I had heard the same thing. This is very common in Europe i think most teams in the U.K do this to bring in extra money.

Sheak won a national as a privateer and received a factory ride with Honda. He finished 2nd or 3rd his first yr on the team to Lamson. After that year, Honda shipped out its 125 team to FMF and things went down hill from there. He rode for PC and was doing well until he hit his head on a tree at Southwick. He never fully recovered from that.

He is back home in NY.

Yea, we were talking about Lucas Moraes. He rode for Star Racing this year and struggled to qualify for the motos.

great call on Mertens, Andy! and what about his teammate, Paul Veracka? Also, I think Charlie Morrison had a factory Husky ride, as well (and I know those guys are fast, but FACTORY riders? eh...) and before you say, yeah, big deal, it was Husky, it was a factory ride, with factory parts! free travel to and from races, and getting paid! and I rode the factory CR 125 in 2001, and it absolutely ripped! the suspension sucked and the chassis was a little weird, but the bike flew, and once we got it dialed, I could have easily gotten used to it and raced it, so I'm sure those guys were comfy on it-just not fast, lol.

Nick Wey, went from a consistent top 5 on a privateer Honda 450, to sucking on Team Suzuki 250 2 stroke. And how come he can't take a picture without doing the Zoolander 'Blue Steel'?

You've got your years all mixed up dude. Wey rode Yamaha 250s for Moto XXX and Mach 1 before he got that Suzuki ride in '04. He didn't set the world on fire but did pretty well, like 5th in SX, 7th outdoors. Hardly "the worst" of anything. He rode Hondas after that and did even better.

Mike Chamberlain had a full pc ride when they first switched to kawi's and didn't do much with it. In fact i think they sent him packing before the season was over. He was a terror on the local scene though...

Have seen numerous topics about best rider never to get a ride, best rider never to go pro etc. Has there been a post about the worst rider to score a factory ride? Seems like KTM had a few that didnt amount to much when they first started fielding a team. Andy Harrington comes to mind. Donovan Mitchell never got a chance due to his injury. I remember some people talking about how Suzuki was crazy for bringing relitively unkown Ryan Dungey on. Looks like he proved some wrong. What you guys got for factory duds?
worst means....

injured?
no speed?
not a complete rider sx vs mx?
never won a title?

too many factors to choose from imho

Didint he almost get to keep the factory zook ride. If I remember correctly it came down to the last few nationals and they ended up giving Tortelli another extension.

Do you mean Morias, as in Ryan Morias, or is Moreas someone else?
