Scrolling through the news I came across this daily mail article talking about how “motocross wear” is now the hot fashion topic. Pretty crazy. I dont really give a crap about what influencers are doing, but if it gets more eyes on the sport thats a positive in my eyes. Also I know this off season a lot of people have been talking about how jacked up the merch situation is at the races, how only a couple sanctioned trucks can sell generic event T’s, could this be another kick in the ass to trying to get more of our sports merchandise out there in the wild? Either way it stopped me in my tracks to come across this and figured Id share.

True story. Me and 2 of my buddies wore our riding gear to a Vancouver sx in 1984 so we could sneak into the pits. There's nothing cooler then that.Omara won.Hannah 2nd. It was an exhibition race.

I crashed hard in my heat race at Montreal SX in 2012. My pit pass wristband ripped off in the crash so I just walked around in my gear the rest of the night. Nobody questioned me at all lol.

I worked with a gay black dj in atlanta during college. dude came to work one day super excited and pulled out some pretty sick fox gear. 

dude ended up wearing not just the jersey but the pants to the club the following weekend lmfao. this was like 5-6 years ago. think i saw him on instagram with it on last year as well

Such a bizarre article because there are genuinely a lot of designers referencing motocross in their designs, but this article just shows biker jackets? Alpinestars did a massive collaboration with Heliot Emil last year. Rick Owen's has done a "motocross boot" a few times since 2015. Ambush did a full motocross pant and jersey set last year. Supreme had that Fox collaboration. And Balenciaga (not a fan) did a full motocross boot with buckles and metal toe cap a few years ago. I don't ever see vintage motocross pants becoming mainstream, but I do think its cool that fashion houses (and the art world) are recognizing the unique design elements that have developed in our sport.

I remember back around ‘96 at Troy, GQ was taking photos of some top riders for a Mx fashion story. Mind you it was about 110 degrees and folks like Larry Ward and several other factory riders were wearing winter fashion outfits for the shoot and sweating their collective asses off. Still pretty cool to see GQ take notice of our sport. I was near Buddy Antunez when he remarked “why are those fools wearing those clothes out here in this heat?” Lmao

Damn...I'm going to start stocking up on power band's and sell them at the race's out of the back of my Gremlin.  I'll have different colors, one's for Supercross, Motocross and for the hardcore crew supermotocross.
