One mud race per year and only one.  That's it.  No more.  A mud race has the potential to be remembered.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to cancel the race for racing reasons.  Some form of race is better than no form of race.  I can understand the locals cancelling it if the state of emergency gets bad enough.  I would have felt weird taking my family to Disney on Ice during the great Texas freeze of '21.

I got so lucky with that. Booked a 6 day vacation in Hawaii that left the day of the first below freezing temps, ended up staying in Hawaii 5 extra days to make it 11 days total. They said if I flew back on the original date to return, I’d be stuck in California🤮 I think the fuck not lol.

No, this isn't the NFL, we don't just cancel races.

The NFL also isn't played on a dirt track made up of jumps.

Well the NFL has played on dirt, even in the same stadium. Lol

Haha yes they did! I've been to a handful of Raiders games with the baseball diamond still there, back when the A's could still make the post season. Today's NFL would never let that fly.

I definitely don’t want them to cancel it, but it appears they are going to. With the soup that dirtwurx was working with, it just didn’t make sense. They will continue to “try” and get a track built, but look for them to cancel the race on Friday. Bummer for us, but ultimately the best decision for the riders

Soupercross. One of the DirtWurx dudes shared some vids the other day and it wasn’t pretty; it will only be worse now. You can’t really pile and shape completely saturated dirt and expect it to hold together. Especially now that lime is (rightfully) out of the question. I’m all for canceling the round. Events like this become more a feat of survival than an actual Supercross race. It’s entirely possible that someone on here has a cousin named Shittooth McGee who grew up riding three wheelers around the farm that could be a podium contender at a race like this.

Are you saying that as fact or opinion?

From what I've seen they're racing.

It's going to be the "Oakland Oval" no jumps, sloppy mud, and a race where points count. All while the 1700 fans that show up are getting pissed on by heavy rain all night. Sounds amazing! Who in their right mind would want to miss that race?

Just the opposite, Steelers fan. They needed to find a way to make the game up, but couldn't because the commissioner is a clown. That's my only point and last comment on it. Sorry it upset some people.

3 things.  1.  Lets put your comment to bed.  It was dumb.  Claim it, own it, move on.  2.  Very Vital of you to throw out numerous statements without knowing facts.  The game was canceled but not by the "clown"   There is a rules committee made up of greedy old dudes and trust fund babies aka the owners, NFLPA, and network folks that looked into feasible options and this late in the season, they came up with the best option. 3.  And this is to the spirit of the original post-Watching guys slip and slide around a SX track is just not great entertainment unless you are there to watch a crash type of person cause it's  is not "good racing".  I think the majority of "cancel it" votes were from @DV and all of the mechanics.  Even their "practice beater bikes" at this point are new and need to last more than one race.  I think the track redesign to make it actually "raceable" would be something they really haven't done before.  I mean sure they knock down a few jumps, but let's face it, no one is jumping much this weekend.  So I say let the race go on if Feld is committed to making it as safe to the riders as possible and as entertaining, meaning raceable.  Otherwise I ahve episodes of Yellowstone and sleep to catch up on anyway

No way. They can build a real simple track on Thursday.  Full on paddle tires for everyone and let’s do this.

If they are gonna cancel it, the best decision for the riders would be to do it now.  Waiting until Friday so a bunch of them spend money to travel to Oakland for no reason would be pretty F'd.

I highly doubt they will cancel.  The stadium is paid for and they have TV responsibility among about 1000 other things.  Waiting until Friday when the whole industry already traveled there would be even worse.  I am sure building a track with slop is not easy, but this may be a very unique race because of that.....and that's cool.  If it is like an oval or like 8 turns with some small jumps and just a sea of ruts, it will be memorable at the least.

That video is old. Maybe you haven’t seen the dirt that they are working with ?
they tried yesterday, it’s a quagmire…

Tomorrow is the only day without rain and they have no dry dirt to work with.

Sorry, i wasnt clear, its not that i dont believe you lol, just curious whether or not its a fact that they will most likely cancel or if its speculation based on the conditions. I'll be bummed if its canceled, but also understand there needs to be consideration of the logistics involved in being able to even build some semblance of a track.

Let’s face it there’s a lot at stake here, Feld wants the race to go on, for financial reasons. Feld puts on a show, they really don’t care about what the teams or riders have to go through, it’s their show and they will run it how they want. The ones who bought tickets will either have to sit in the rain to watch the mud race or lose their money. Unless they cancel it and refund everyone’s money. (Insurance claim)

But when the show will suck and nobody really wants to deal with the reality of racing in the mud/rain and TV viewers will complain about the ”show”, it’s time to pull the “Insurance Claim”. They probably have a big deductible, but in the end would lose more trying to put the shit show on and go racing.
To be able to cancel the race and use their insurance policy to recover some of their losses, there’s probably a lot of red tape. I don’t work for Feld or have any insider info from any source making decisions. But I work in the motion picture industry and every now and then, they have to use an insurance day when weather or actor issues arise. It’s rarely made in advance and usually we are sent home, after we come to work, Not told to stay home.
The inconvenience to everyone involved is probably not high on the list for the insurance company about to take a big hit on the claim.

Let's just say I heard this from a really good source and leave it at that
