I don't think this is supposed to be a CP vs RD thing. I agree with the positive comments here in this thread, yes the kid overcame stuff that "normal" people wouldn't. He's still partly paralyzed but despite that he's still recognized as one of the most talented riders ever (sure an opinion).
A bonus for me as fan of his is his personality. What come up as negative for some of you makes me more interested and as some point out, who wouldn't be pissed etc during these circumstances. I wish I could be his riding and pit buddy before any other rider.
I think it's cool that Mitch Payton believed in this kid, and made it possible to come back despite the obvious nightmare after his injury. Remember Bercy 07? He looked like a skeleton, could barley walk and we all thought he was toasted as a rider.

No one has been booed and put down as bad as RC when he wore the king outfit and then barely hit T.P at a race. If your one of the best people or going to hate you and love you. They all go through it, even JS. All except for TP i guess.

He didn't lose that championship in the moto his bike blew up in Southwick any more than then his bad motos at Glen Helen, Freestone, Redbud, Washuogal, or second moto at Southwick. If he had won any of those motos instead of finishing back in the pack on his own account the championship still would have been his. Dungey had some bad luck also but at the end of the year he was the better rider. Why can't people just admit that.
Oh and it is great to see someone voice their opinion like that. Go CP.
Cant wait to see RD on a 450 and CP will come back nest year and put a waxathon on everyone the dude gots skills and its good to hear him cursing it up and be real I gained more respect for him telling it like he wants. Sorta like Reed he says what he wants and either you hate him or love him the dude is a bad ass on a bike and were lucky to have both of them here in the states racing our series.

seems like with that big of a points lead, they'd detune the engine, set it up for maximum reliability
And on top of that, yes he was paralyzed for something like eight months, and even after he started riding again, he couldn't urinate properly and things like that. He's still suffering from some effects of the paralysis.
Chris Pourcel is a bad dude, no doubt about it, and any of you that would say otherwise are likely sitting on a comfy couch at home with a bucket of chicken in your lap saying how it "really is" on the computer.
You guys should read the feature I did with him in the June issue of Racer X this year, then tell me the guy doesn't have any heart.
