Hey all!
I've had an '04 CR250R I did one run at Lorretta's on back in 2013, and let it sit for 9 years while I switched to road racing. Now I'm in Colorado where road racing is non-existent, so the CR is starting a new chapter in CO's RMRA series.
Below is how the bike currently sits. I'd like to go for a 2000's privateer look. Can some of the older crowd here post their favorite bikes of that era I can try to build from? I plan on sticking with the factory plastics, pipe and silver wheels.
Thanks!

Following. I recently built an 04 and I think I’m going to be very happy with it once I spend some more time setting it up. I considered selling it after one of my last rides because it was dangerous with how the power comes on. I realized this while riding 4-5th gear hard packed rocky stuff with flat and off camber turns. The power was just completely off until the top end came to life, then it pulled to the moon. I ordered a 10oz flywheel weight and after a test ride it definitely feels more rideable. This is with a stock cylinder with cleaned up ports and head mod on vp u4.4
My ‘03 I built last Fall. Traded it for a KX500. Can’t get more classic looks in a CR IMO!
What’s your jetting? When I swapped to the Keihin and VF3 w/ the PC setup this motor got as easy to ride as my YZ250.
I’m running the stock tmx, stock needle on second clip, 32.5 pilot, and a 440 main, air screw 2-2.5 turns out. The bike is really crisp and runs great.
i do have a pwk I want to try out at some point

I don’t remember my Mikuni specs, but don’t recall having one that worked as good as a poorly setup Airstryker
On the Keihin, I ended up at a 48 pilot, 180 main, can’t remember what needle or clip.
I miss those days. If you can find em, the One Industries David Bailey kit looked great on white.
I loved my 03. Cut head, little porting, Keihn PWK, new pv servo. Had a PC system after this pic. Was one of few bikes i ever had that just felt like it could do no wrong handling wise and suspension was excellent. Would love to find another to go with my 96
Honda of Troy look is timeless to me. They never had a bad looking bike.
Man, something about those partially laminated seat covers. I just ordered a full set from Factory Backing that's somewhere between the No Fear and Honda of Troy graphic. I totally forgot about both those bikes! Thanks for the help guys, I'll get photos posted in a few weeks once the seat cover arrives.
Can’t wait to see how they turn out
I'm currently building a 2006 cr250 I went with 99 honda team graphics. Like you I am sticking with silver wheels as well.
Man that looks great. I personally can’t stand when people put 4 stroke plastic on these bikes when they look so good with the stock stuff. Glad you guys are keeping them true. Keep those build pics coming.
Trick!
Here's mine, inspired from the team Honda Blackfoot 06
So true!
Live the stock plasts!
I meant "leave", sorry
Pit Row
Good choice on the exhaust
Good stuff, keep it up Gents.
bbitunjac - Do I spy a 92’-01’ HPP in a Gen3 chassis? Very cool
CRC245 - Yep, full HRC factory motor from the mid 90s.
I love the red plastics. Super clean looking bike!
BROTHER?!
CAS Honda from MXGP's
A lot of classic red and black!
Finally got everything together! All new plastics, new seat, new grips and new shoes. Wasn’t sure how it would turn out but I feel like I accomplished that 2000’s look I was hoping for.
Looks Great . Nice graphics colors and design. What bar clamp ya using for the pro tapers ? Ever try the hrc method for adjusting the pv cables ? It’s what team Honda used. I tried on my 04 cr125 it works great. Vid is on yt.
Man now all it’s missing is a raw pipe and a shorty
