I had one of the transmissions undercut and tumbled by a company that makes gearboxes for drag bikes. I’m yet to ride this bike (it’s a slow project with lots of one off parts), but this should cure it. If so, I will get another few sets done.

Nice looking. Are these gears and shafts worked over OEM or did you have each gear built of a different alloy metal. How much per gear. I figured $250 a gear $500 per shaft for titanium. By listening to all the posts here and on other forms anything that's got teeth gear wise has problems, so all gears and shafts are going to be titanium not only for lightness but for reliability reasons.

Didn't the cheaper BR8ES work on those bikes?
I know it did on most 2 strokes. Still run them in my bikes.
I think you mean BR8EG
The br8eg worked to. I remember buying those around $6, but the br8es was under $3 at the local auto parts store. That was about 1999 pricing. They were interchangeable. I still run the br8es because its cheaper and I never noticed a difference in performance

Got to be a windup. Titanium is probably too brittle for gear cogs, and you'd have to be mad to spend that on a transmission for an old Suzuki.

Yes, mine is worked OEM gears.

Just purchased my 96 RM250, anybody got any good settings and upgrades and the like for this 96 model RM250, can't wait to tear into this fine machine. Going to blueprint the engine cases and cylinder surface's for a good seal for a good pressure test. New beings seals gaskets to start with. Any pipe, power valve, carb, compression, head, rake, trail, tires, suspension, frame modification or suggestions. All inquiries will be taking good or bad ... Thanks ... Brian
Send the Cylinder and Head to Eric Gorr. I had my 97 done by him. Several top 100 riders at the time rode it and said it would walk away from their fully modded race bikes.

When they under cut and tumbled what does this do to the gears. It appears the oem set of gears need to be of a harder steel or they need hardened by some sort of process. These gears you have in the photos here look good. Get back with me on this ... Thanks BRIAN

I must have been very lucky that year because I had a new 125 and 250 and never had any issues. My experience with Suzuki''s in general has been pretty poor however. My 2006 RC replica RM250 felt beat in no time and my 07 RMZ50 was constantly breaking. Luck of the draw there i guess.

I needed a new top end on this POS after 3 months. I had it a year and could not take it any more. It was such a funbike but I just did not trust it.
Luck of the draw for sure. I had an 07 RMZ250 that just wouldn't die, granted I was a C rider at the time and pretty nice to that thing. Replaced top end way over 50 hours and sold it to a local kid who went on to ride that thing for years trouble free.

I bought a new one 2,900 bucks. With the pc pipe it was quicker ripen threw the powerband. Quick throttle response with a quick hit good mid range with top end ovr rev. Very fun to ride and really good at grabbing the inside line. Very easy bike to ride and felt really light. Best looking bike ever made. I got 2 Suzuki jackets for free I hv 1 yet. Yellow purple and hot pink haha

Bikes were garbage! My kickstarter broke off the 3rd time I tried to start it!

The whole bike? Or just the Kickstart? Mine broke.  Got one under warranty. Otherwise didn't break anything else.

Raced a 96 for 3 years. No issues.  Have an 06 RC4 replica.  Raced for 9 years. It's sitting in my living room. Basically trouble free.
