Shows the KTM clout! CW2 will benefit the most.
They stated it wasn’t just the KTM teams that were complaining about the whoops.
The whoops claim more riders than any other obstacle. If making them smaller will keep more riders on the track, instead of injured, I think it’s a great idea.
I’d be interested to see what all the riders want…. That’s what’s important
I think it varies on where the race is. I don’t blame them for wanting to back it down a bit on the west coast. Crashing headfirst into a block of concrete sucks and takes riders out for long periods of time. On the east coast, it’s whatever because the track breaks down and the dirt is much softer. Let those break down naturally.

Ya...probably KTM, Husky and GasGas..
It'll be lame if they give in and make them smaller.
I'm not a fan of smaller whoops, only because I feel it separates the riders.
But then again I'm not the pro rider who has to hit them lap after lap.
Season usually starts with smaller woops and get larger/more difficult as the season progresses.
Seriously I'm all for safer tracks. Find a good compromise. I think it probably will make the racin better because there's nothing to separate.
I’m all for listening to what the riders want, especially if it’s safety related.
Yeah, I realize I can't joke around on the site sensitive people ....
I know I'm the minority but I support it. It seems like people (watchers of the sport) constantly want "manlier" and "tougher" whoops but as someone who actually rides sometimes, at some point they become ridiculous and actually hinder the racing.
Let me re-post and share what I said because it's actually how I feel. I wish I could find somebody to take the doubles out of my local track that way I can flow a track better getting too old to take a chance on going over the bars been down that road many times . And as I mentioned it actually makes better racing because there's nothing that separates..
Don’t care as long as they’re skimmable and not jumpers.
Anything other than those whoops at Daytona SX a couple years ago. Claimed like half the 250 field the opening lap.
Any one got the numbers on how many riders the whoops claimed last year I feel like it wasn’t many ?
I want to see the best riders going at it, I don’t want to watch start cross where every one does the same lines perfect.
I feel there needs to be the one obstacle that separates the boys for the men
I love all the down votes but no replies, keep hiding behind your key boards. :D I can only imagine how you respond to your wives when you disagree with them.
* Edit:
Sorry I forgot there was already a thread about that
The bigger and tougher the better.
They should have DV12 go out there and do them in tennis shoes, no helmet and on a girls bike to show them they need to harden up!
I heard they're going from aluminum-frame whoops to steel-frame whoops ... Taking away half of the fun.
Pit Row
I’d like to see them big and irregular like they were in the late 80’s just once. They weren’t skimmable then. I guess it’d just turn into jumpers but maybe everyone would be on different rhythms.
It’d also be cool to see a long section built around a corner, maybe even a big banked corner. Maybe it wouldn’t work but it would be cool to see the riders try to figure out something they haven’t practiced a thousand times. At the very least, it’s better than the stupid wall jump
If a steel frame wins you will know why
Whoops and quads are the only time makers anymore. Make em yuge!
Big whoops can work if done properly and safely. It is something that separates riders on skill so I really hope they don’t make it to the point where they become redundant. The whoops at A1 last year were awesome because they were right out of a turn and took a combo of bike skill, bike set up, and technique. I don’t recall anyone getting hurt in them and when there were crashes, it wasn’t too bad because the rider wasn’t going fast enough. I also don’t want to see the same ones like A3 where they were hitting big ones at high speed and seeing what seemed like half of the 250 field getting injured trying to blitz them.
I like the idea of shortening the run up to the whoops to bring the speed down. Imo they are one of the few sections on the tracks that really reward better rider. Smaller (in height, not length), lower speed whoop sections should still do that while perhaps being a bit safer. Coming from a dez background whoops don't strike me as all that sketchy anyway (and yes I realize sx whoops are quite different).
If that's what's important to you outlasting keyboard warriors ... what's important to me is getting back to the family as we're getting ready to open gifts Merry Christmas everyone
I’d like to see them be a drag race style section of the track not the thunder dome section they have been. 2 men enter and only one man exits!!
Big better.
Has anyone on here actually tried to ride though a set of Supercross whoops? Even small ones? Just curious to know what they think.
Let’s just take a moment here, we’re talking the best supercross riders in the world here, the elite, who train day in day out to race on a supercross track with all it can throw at them?
And there’s talk of taming an obstacle that is a supercross staple, an obstacle that separates supercross from motocross?!
An obstacle that in all fairness was bigger and harder twenty years ago, when bikes had no where near the suspension and chassis technology of today.
Away with such rubbish!
I can vouch that whoops are not fun.
If they can build them like the Bercy whoops I think we'd be in a good spot. I know, different builders... Just a reference.
