Ahhhh…because Kenny said he didn’t on Pulp….which is what this whole thread is about…
You should probably check out Kenny's interview on Pulp.
Lol glad I’m not the only one. Ping’s most used question is “Okay…2009…what happened that year?”
Media guys are jealous because Ping did one of the best interviews with Hannah.
I never got to watch Bob ride so I'll take all the Hannah content I can get.

I like Kenny a lot, both as a rider and as a story of perseverance. That being said I'm not going to believe him just because he says something where he would have a vested interest in lying. Moreso, I don't care if he is lying. Sometimes people in the public eye have to lie because the general public hates the truth.
Someone with some sense popped in.
So Kenny is saying his manager lied about it,, "The reason we refused..." and is cussing Ping for reporting it?
Whiskey Throttle got it wrong, it’s really that simple.
That's a pretty funny answer. Feels like you're trying really hard to hide some bias there.
Or, you just refuse to look at the entirety of what transpired, including getting Kenny's take on it.
Maybe both.
So, did you listen to the interview?
Absolutely zero bias, I could give two shits about it either way. Frankly, I'm amazed I'm typing this out.
As of now Ping is not a sensationalist in my book, like anyone else my opinion of him can change if he starts stepping on his willy on the regular. I like Ping's longform interviews and I like what he is trying to do in the industry. I also like Kenny a lot. It is quite possible to like two people that hate each other.
The crazy catch 22 is that if Ping just made this story up he's a piece of garbage and if Kenny is not being truthful to protect his brand it's understandable. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
As far as "Did I listen to the interview?" I have not yet, I'm in the middle of a great book on tape called "Smuggler" by Roger Reaves. Crazy interesting book. Maybe I'll go listen to it on Youtube. Not much chance of it changing my mind of I have no idea where the truth is.
All heil YE!
Ping posted that Kenny refused a drug test. He then went on to speculate what was in his system.
We know, for a fact, that it was more complicated than that. We also know Kenny took and passed the drug test.
Without getting into all the other uproar with Kenny's agent, how do you look at the above and not think Ping fucked up?
Had Ping called... *checks notes*... ANYONE in the industry, he probably would have gotten the complete picture. Or, worse, he DID have the complete picture and decided to post click bait trash anyway.
I'm giving Ping the benefit of the doubt in that I believe he heard something from maybe 1 guy and ran with it... He probably knows to do better next time. Still, he sure as hell didn't call/text Ken Roczen.
That's the thing, you or I have no idea who he called or how he checked on it. Is it possible that Ping talked to someone at KTM, and Roger had no idea? Of course, it is. Sometimes shit just goes off the rails. I did listen to Kenny on the podcast and my opinion is now they are probably both telling the truth as they know it. The only bad guy in the whole fiasco in my opinion was Astephen. Of course, Kenny is pissed at Ping, and he had the perfect audience with Matthes and ML, two people who are definitely not in Pings fan club. I'm sure there is mutual bad blood on all sides so I totally get the hostilities.
This one admittedly isn't a good look for Ping just like Claimgate wasn't a good look for Matthes, I'm willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt and a Mulligan if they need it.
Craziest thing in this whole thread is the negativity I have gotten for being absolutely neutral. To me it's a slightly interesting story with hugely interesting reactions from people who are in no way involved or affected by the story. Plus the fact that the story has taken so many twists and turns. First off it was "Ping is Cooksey", then it was "Astephen is hiding something" and now it's back to "Ping sucks." Wild ride boys.
Pingree has to be the biggest clown in the industry
More importantly than all of this BS, if you are a Suzuki dealer are you selling any new bikes with stock graphics or are you selling every single bike with HEP graphics and a number 94 on it?
I remember my neighbor across the street that didn't know squat about bikes and got his first dirt bike a brand new 2003 KTM McGrath Bud Light replica complete with number 2 on the plates. He had no idea it was a crap bike but he liked and wanted to look like MC.
"Ping posted that Kenny refused the test." Did Kenny's agent not say, "The reason we refused the test."??? So why would you give a reason for refusing if you didn't refuse? Yeah, at some point, it must have been made clear to him the consequences of refusing so, he took the test. You say, "he took the test and passed".... Have you seen the results of the test? It seems that others that were tested waited sometimes for months on results. I don't know. I hope it all works out and he wins races for Suzuki but, Ping reported the news, corroborated by the agent, a participant in the incident and apparently, the spin cycle is on so high the facts don't matter.
Ping didn't elaborate any further than Kenny refusing (which was more like Astephen initially refusing...), following that up by speculating on what Kenny is taking (a banned substance of course). It is 100% click bait bullshit to tell such a fraction of what actually went down. Hence, why I stated "it was more complicated than that".
As far as whether Kenny passed... You got me there. I guess we really don't know yet. However, based on the med that was initially of concern (and Astephen making an ASSstephen of himself covering for), I doubt we will ever hear anything about this again.
Edit: I'll also add that Ping stated KTM passed on Kenny. Kenny said that was bullshit on Pulp... He actually seemed the most upset about that specific detail and elaborated on what the deal was. We won't ever know the truth on that 100% though.
Love the way Kenny handled that. No bs. Especially the Rog and KTM remarks. Ping really added fuel to the fire there. So unprofessional of him, he should really be embarrassed. Kenny saying he literally talked to Rog days before all this. And I do enjoy Ping’s podcasts. His opinions and social media a big NO from me. I’m hesitant to give him clicks anymore.
Pit Row
KR calling ping a "Shit stick" would infer that somebody was trying to stir the shit and used ping as the stick to do the stirring. Guess ping got played
Trying to read these posts makes me wonder how many of you have AADD?
You are blindly ignoring the other half of the story, which is arguably the most important part. Ping reported weeks after this all went down, "Ken Roczen refused to take a drug test and KTM pulled their offer as a result."
Neither are true. The agent initially questioned why they should have to submit a test but ultimately they still submitted a test. To say that someone refused to take a test weeks after the incident insinuates that a test was never taken and to also add a potential factory ride was revoked as a consequence is just a flat out lie. Please tell me more about this "spin cycle" as it seems you are sticking a finger in both of your ears and singing "la la la" when anyone presents you with the actual facts of what happened. Is everyone else spinning a false narrative or are you strapping on another tin foil hat while insisting that Ping's clickbait and false claims are the real truth?
Wow what a pussy.
Wow. What a storm in a tea cup.
I expect Ping knows what was in Davie’s locker too. He should come clean.
When at the clown show/circus I have always found it difficult to determine the biggest...
Michael Scott Paper Company = Whiskey Throttle Media
Ping made a very bad decision posting that.
"Taking the high road" is a rarity these days.
Anything for the clicks...
I want to piggy back on something you said here--"Is it possible that Ping talked to someone at KTM, and Roger had no idea?" I was amazed listening to the Bubba's World interview with RC that Carmichael himself said he had no idea Suzuki told James that he had a offer to ride for RCH! Your point is valid that Ping may have gotten "bad" intel from someone else, regardless of what Roger and Kenny had talked about.
I like Ping, but it appears to me that he may not have called Kenny or the agent to get their side of this (I do NOT know that for a fact, just more speculation on top of all this other speculation in this thread), which could have avoided a lot of this. Regardless, I can also see how this whole thing could have happened, having been in those shoes before.
I haven’t read anything here even remotely close to anyone calling for ping to be “canceled”
Cancelling him would be like: getting all his sponsors to back out of his podcast, getting his social media accounts banned, getting him banned from entering supercross/motocross events, and getting him fired from his firefighting job. Nobody is calling for any of that.
All I’m seeing here is people criticizing his handling of the Kenny rumor.
