Met my wife at the track. She brought her son and daughter to ride. She never missed a weekend for the most part until I got hauled off in the meat wagon. She’s a fan, and thinks it’s cool, still. Still comes to the track with me from time to time and is also one of those “you need to go ride” wives. Ha!  Keepher!

re: the American “could care less” is a common statement but us lazy americas forget to say “but I don’t” afterwards. It’s just like “I can’t thank” XXX and always forget to say “enough” at the end.

i know there’s some of you out there that have wives and partners that go riding together and also some that could care less about what a spoke torque wrench even is.

Rather than start a whole other thread..  why do Americans say “could care less” when what they really mean is “couldn’t care less”?   to say...

to say ‘could care less’ implies you DO care somewhat.

Anyone?

It’s a commonly misspoken phrase. You’ll hear that and “same difference” a lot.

Wife loves it. It's something we've truly Bonded over these past years, especially since the first covid shutdown.

I'm a lucky man who's thankful she is who she is.

I don’t understand why some men let a women run or dictate their life. Do what you want when you want, if you can’t it’s time to find another girl.

My wife is very understanding. She even rides in the desert with me occasionally.

There's been some moments EvilAngryWoohoo  but we're good.  I made sure she liked camping and riding before I married her. We raised our kids riding and desert camping with other families so that helped I'm sure.

There was this one time though when the kids were little, I raced something like 5 out of 6 weekends. I knew she was a little pissed but went anyway of course. When I called on my way home to say I was going to be late (pre cell phones) the answer machine said "Hello"  "Sorry we can't come to the phone right now, if you're looking for Bill he's not here, but try the motocross track where he is every single fucking weekend"  "If you see him there tell him his family misses him because we never see him around here anymore"    Click....

Oh shit..... Guess I better plan a desert trip ! Laughing

I got my first bike when our daughter was a baby. It was 15 years old given to me free in pieces by my cousin. The next few years were very tough finding a balance with learning the sport and trying to make her understand why her husband wants to leave his family for an entire day to go try and kill himself. She compromised, I comprised. She knew if she pushed too hard I’d sell it and not ride anymore, and I’d hate her for it. I knew if I pushed too hard I’d loose my entire family and hate myself for it. Fast forward 17 years, my 13 year old son and I both race, follow every pro race and we’ve got “bike brain” as she likes to say. She’s there every weekend. She doesn’t miss a moto and the rest of the time she reads her book. It’s been work to get to this point but we’re in a good spot now and I’m enjoying the hell out of it.

My wife is cool with it. On occasion she tries to ride and actually got her motorcycle license this year. When I got busted up and said I was done, sold my stuff, a couple months later she told me to get another bike, your miserable! That was 12 years ago(my accident, we’ve been together since 2002, the first picture was that year at her first race she attended with me) and she still “let’s” me ride. She was by my side while in the hospital and I am by her side while she battles cancer. Support your partner and they will support you back

My wife is good. My son rides and my daughter rides every once in a while and my wife used to ride because I got her in the sport. Gotta say when your wife knows 80% of the riders when they’re on the track is pretty cool. She def does not like the starts, especially at glen helen. I got her into mountain biking so we do that together as well. I can get a bit obsessive sometimes and that’s what she can’t stand.

If my wife was honest I think she’d rather I didn’t ride more to do with the expense than anything.
It’s difficult trying to balance family and riding. We’re agreed that I can ride every other Sunday which is frustrating when most the races in England now are two day events.

My wife surprised me with my Kawi last year for Christmas. Sourced, Bought, and got it to the house all without me knowing. She's all for it.

I am pretty much cut from the same cloth Sam. Would be cool if you and some other Louisiana dudes could make it out here for a week or so of MOTO.

My wife thinks it’s cool but doesn’t want me to get hurt. She’s probably came to the track to watch 3 times in 12 years. Truthfully I like it that way. It’s me time and guys time. It’s like her going shopping with the girls. If she could secretly make my bike go missing though she would😂💀

Sounds like we both married the same person lol . Every time I get hurt she asked if I'll quit even though she already knows the answer

Married 30 years, been riding 50 years.  My wife doesn't go to the track because it's hot, dirty, and there's no decent place to pee.  All good, when I get grumpy or hang around the house a lot, she reminds me that I need to go ride, so, I do.  She says my mental health is so much better afterwards.

She gets it. Plays other sport, so it is second in her priorities as far as spending free time goes, but I can't complain.

I remember how hard it was dating girls with no real hobby or interest of their own, not the way to go.

yak651 .. that is awesome. Good on both of you. As a moto guy and a cancer survivor i get what you are saying Smile

As for mine... met her at the track. She is beyond supportive of my moto habit. here she is at the 2021 2 stroke nationals at GH when i raced a KX500 in the 50 expert class
