A comparison dyno graph (same dyno, same day, ideally) would be sweet. Pretty interested how people find the 150 version if/when it happens, was it next year they were saying or no immediate plans, I can't remember?
Will be interesting to see the TBI 150, along with a little more tuning / engineering experience with the new systems.
Hopefully they could keep the little extra grunt and slightly wider margin of error that the higher displacement gives, and use the injection and tuning to prolong the top end / over rev a little as that's what people seem to miss from the 125 to the 150... assuming that's possible mechanically, just to further bridge the gap and get the benefits of both. It could be near perfect.
Any of you guys have some seat time on these yet? Any downsides you have found? How is the powerband?
I may go pick up a Heritage Edition this weekend to add to the stable. It has been a long time since I have wrung out a 125, I am feeling a little Emig-ish.

You may not like the 2 stroke anymore but the other manufacturers are missing out on building a new 125 2 stroke.

If you go to the 16:35 mark in the video, you can hear them discuss the engine.
I have a 23' 125sx and I concur with the review of the engine
I have 10 hours on my TC. So far its great. But I think a little motor work could go a long way. Head, ignition, good fuel? I'm waiting to see what tuners are able to do. I would like more over-rev and top end power. Mid is great. Suspension is pretty damn good out of the box too. The 125 is so light you can just stick it anywhere and they power doesn't make small mistakes worse. It's a super fun bike on the right tracks.
You might want to watch it again. At roughly 20:20 in the video the Yamaha got last and the gasgas won.
Agreed
I hadn't seen this one yet, thank you for sharing! I am surprised by the winner, but lots of great info.
Make sure your dealer installs the updated EFI map before you take your new TC125 home. Saw a new '23 TC125 the other weekend and it had the updated EFI map the owner of the bike put 2-hours on it and said the bike ran great in both maps. This TC125 was the standard model (gray) though the Heritage Editions look cool....
I just came back from the dealer last night for throwing a fuel pump code, 23' 125sx, plugged in, it was up to date and was also told by the Service Manager to "only use the white map until told otherwise as there is an issue with the green map that it is not yet sorted".
I hope to have answers as soon as I can get back to the dyno.
ps- thanks for following me on YT, (God Guitars Guns and Goats)
I am picking mine up tomorrow. I am guessing most are running VP T2 fuel right? I was told the EFI system when you first start your bike (the first few mins), should be let to idle while warming up, that the EFI is 'learning' those first few mins, elevation, octane, etc. and if you fire your bike up and go right to ripping, the EFI might be off.
This was from a salesman so... could be a bunch of crap. :D I am definitely curious what fuel y'all are running though, it is a no brainer with a carb, assuming it is still a no brainer with EFI.
Well that don't sound right. It is efi. It should learn based on the parameters there. Kinda like you dont have to let other efi systems learn before you take off. Salesman can be notorious stupid on what the sell. Im not condemning them all but most have no clue.
I may be wrong but thats the first i heard of that and I can assure you we havent done that and we use 93 pump gas here. But after reading that review above that someone mentioned i may start using a little of the better gas. My grandson isnt one of those kids that rings the bikes neck though so im not sure its really needed but i guess better safe than sorry.
Due to some of the issues that have happened with mine, I have been told to run 93 @ 40/1 to rule out fuel.
But I have seen many running higher octane over 100.
What kind of issues are you having?
I would like to DM you and not air out anything publicly but your DM's are off.
I am going to keep this thread going..
What are y'all running for spare plugs? The OEM recommended plugs (47039093000) are on backorder until the end of April.. That is nuts.. I am assuming some of you have chosen others? I am running ethanol free 93 pump gas FWIW.
I still have not had a chance to get to the damn track yet. The PNW weather keeps giving us beautiful weekdays, and shitty weekends. This pattern repeated last year until June.. It is brutal.

Ive been a member of this forum in one way or the other since 04 and i have never been able to get the damn DM shit to function.
Im just now seeing this and his bike began having trouble last track outing.
Im in cali trying to help diagnose a bike in bama (going home 1 month from today)
So, could you email me at gharmon33@knology.net or even text me at 706 773 4162?
Id love to discuss.
Thanks,
Gerald
That part number is a BR10ECMVX. I'm sure you could run the BR10ECMIX. The only difference is going from platinum to Iridium (I instead of V). I just checked Parts Unlimited and there's plenty in stock of the Iridium. On all the previous gen carb bikes I run the BR9ECMIX in place of the BR9ECMVX.
Is it the tpi300 or the new tbi sx300 that comes stock with a $3 BR8ES?
Where did I read or hear that lol?
23’ 250/300sx is a BR8ES, TBI.
I will hit you up today- J
Thank you sir! I will grab one (or two) for spares until the platinum plugs are back in stock.
My dealer recommended a NGK BR9ECMVX in place of any 10 range plug, just FYI in case you need something else.
is this bike worth it over the gasgas? been thinking about picking a 125 up and got my local dealer talked down to a decent deal.
Interesting they're recommending you go to a hotter plug rather than jumping to Iridium or even plain ol' copper in the same heat rating. Any thoughts on that?
Probably irrelevant as it's racecars, but I, and many tuners in the UK, have used bog standard NGK copper plugs in a lot of turbo racecars which run a bit rich due to a better resistance to fouling than fancier plugs.
The 23' GG125 won the shootout and its a carbed bike lol...how much of a deal can you get it for off MSRP?
The 9 heat range has been in every 125 2 stroke I can remember, if anything, I was very surprised to see a 10 in it!
I can get the husky for 8500 otd. The gasgas is a little less than a $1000 cheaper.
