Jett racing 250sx in 23 is ridiculous. 4 years in the class for an elite talent is just dumb, I’m sorry.
He wins multiple races in 450s if he lines up. Guess he’ll learn more working over Hampshire for 6 races?
He’s 19 years old…he’ll be 450 full time before he even turns 20.
Stew was 2 wins deep on a 450 at 19
His age is a tired-ass excuse. Elite guys move up.
Stew was also moving up onto a 250 2stroke not a 450.

He worked RC and Chad in December 2005. 19 years old. 450.
To be fair, he wanted to move up. It was Honda’s choice to keep him on a 250 for one more season.
Sandbagging is the act riding slower than than you are capable of or skipping rounds entirely to avoiding accumulating points to remain in a less competitive class.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandbagging_(racing)Since he has already announced his intentions of moving up, I don’t think he will be sandbagging at all. I think it is far more likely that he will dominate and win the vast majority of the rounds on whatever coast he chooses to race.
Horrible post. Kid is young. Perfect decision IMO having him begin his 450 career outdoors.
You cannot sandbag the Pro class.
There have been years (and 2023 may be, as well,) when the 250 guys were more talented than the 450s. It's not a given that Jett will win the title, either.
Would you hair-splitters prefer the term cherry picking?
He should be on a 450, end of story
Maybe based on what we now know about Stew (in legacy), his career path wasn't the most sustainable trajectory?
Last year was a waste of seeing Jett in "regional" (LMAO) 250 SX..... this year.... I won't even bother to watch whatever coast he races... the championship on that coast is over before it even starts....
Unless... they let Justin Cooper race against him... Now I'd watch that..! But Cooper would still get crushed... if you aren't using the new style as well as Jett or Chase.... you've got zero chance of beating Jett....
2nd in all time and SX wins? Ya, real shame.
Thats the point: Championships pay more (and last longer) than wins. I can't blame Jett for trying to grab another.
Stew, arguably the best motocrosser of all time, ran out of chances.
Fun fact, Jett will still only be a 2-time champ even if he wins west coast ‘23
Fun fact, he may set himself up for life with West Coast '23.
How do you sandbag the 250 SX pro class ??? Sometimes I think people post this kind of stupid stuff because they don't get enough attention at home
what a clown.
You could reasonably accuse someone of sandbagging the class, if he was dodging the class rules to stay down.
Jett is not doing that in any way.
Pit Row
And be a whole lot richer.
Can't sandbag a pro class, Johnny.
That non-sustainable trajectory netted 2 SX 450 titles and 50 SX wins. I can't wait to see what Jett does, hopefully he doesn't crash out of 3 of the 4 250 titles he lines up for.
You'll get no argument from me that Stew may be the best MXer the world has ever seen. That doesn't mean Jett should follow his particular career path.
Should I change the thread title to Cherry Picking?
Nah. Its enough to fuck off and let the kid beat up on grown men.
I think it’s smart, you watch him make a 450 debut indoors this year to dip his toe in the water, I think this is why he’s west coast!
Guarantee this measured approach will add a few years for him at the other end rather than the meat grinder route
Whichever coast he rides is gonna be a yawner.
shame on Honda for making the fans wait. Give the fans what they want and put the big hitters together to race.
250 or 450 the thing that separates is displacement. They are both Pro classes at the very top level of this sport, so I don't think calling it a sandbag is the correct term.
Dude has like 10+ years more to go racing if he chooses so if he wants to bag another championship or more experience on a 250 before moving on WGAF
So wait, is he an elite rider sand bagging or is ONLY a two champ IF he wins SX '23.
Seems contridictory.
Wow! That was quick, is already time to start sh** talking Jett?
Not at all, I’m saying he could legit win 2023 450 SX and be a 3-time champ at 19, maybe 4 after outdoors.
and 450 wins/titles pay more. Fact.
