I remember several times PC bikes blew up, in fact I can't remember more than a couple that weren't PCs. Didn't villopoto blow a few in 06? Townley in 07? I'm pretty sure stroupe has done a couple too.

Thats 2 years ago and 3 years ago, I am not saying that they don't it isn't frequent. Like I said I was shocked. Reed at Daytona was similar, the conditions were very similar. I am sure most bikes are toast after this race.

I was thinking the same thing. I've read on here (so it may not be a credible source) that they only build those engines to run about 3 hours or so. Whatever the case may be, you would think as a team they would sacrifice some power for more reliability for a track as brutal as THE WICK!

The interesting thing was they could try to kickstart it but when they pushed back to the pits the rear wheel was locked up.

Whatever it was, I'm sure Payton feels that he left his rider down. He has so much pride and will not take this lying down.

Mitch will work harder to fix that problem which caused the DNF. That's racing and the team knows that.... rest assured, I'm sure PC will come back stronger then before.

Even on television you can actually see the power advantages of the PC bikes. There have been several races where Mitch's bikes had the ability to pull away from other riders over relatively benign portions of the track. Pro Circuit understands the tolerances of the 250F and dances on the edge of reliabilty every week. This week it bit them, hard.

Dungey's bike, coupled with his size (I expect he gives up 25+ lbs to Pourcel) makes it challenging for him to consistently start at the head of the pack. This is not a knock on the Suzuki team, but the fact that they probably do not build engines like PC, which may result in a 3-5 HP disadvantage. (I have no facts to back this claim, but if you look at the first turn, there are typically several green bikes with the Monster Energy logo.)

Just an observation of what most would consider the obvious...

Sometimes manufacturing issues can't be accounted for.

If a part had some defect not due to design...it's often very hard to find out about it until it breaks!

Actually listening to the PC bikes at southwick this year...the motors sounded much different than they do at other tracks. I think they were "detuned" for this track from the get go...and tuned for more mid and less top to help pull through the sand. This usually is a good thing for reliability...less revs is always nice on a motor.

I wouldn't say pro circuit bikes are the best. Mitch has so many titles on that door because he knows how to get the best out of his riders.

All the bikes out their are so similar performance wise and most of them are running pro circuit engines.

pc bikes sounded different then every other bike on the track at Budds creek. i know PC does FC's engines and more but from what i saw, and my eyes could be very wrong, but the PC header pipes on the PC team bikes looked significantly bigger in diameter then other teams/privateers using pc exhaust. could be one of the reasons they sound different, of course this is all assuming i saw correctly. anyone that goes to the races often and gets close to these bikes confirm or deny my thoughts?

Mitch hires the best riders. The best riders are usually the best starters. The bikes are fast fer sure but getting holeshots is not just about horsepower.
