I don't know bro. I am just reading what was said in this article. I am not defending the guy and have no dog in the fight.
https://motocrossactionmag.com/controversial-ktm-150sx-varner-build-pas…
Yeah I get that man, but what was said in that article is unbelievably vague and undersold.
Them selling Varner getting this chance to "redeem himself" is absolutely ridiculous. Based on this thread alone he has how many engines sitting on his shelf with PAYING customers waiting??
Yet he gets asked to build this 150 and boom it's miraculously finished and tested?
There is no defense for his ongoing conscious nonsense.
I couldn't agree more. He is a criminal based on all of these issues. It's too bad legally nothing will happen to him, whereas it should be a class action lawsuit where he refunds everyone or goes to jail.
You’re right, he is, and posting about it for almost 3 years hasn’t changed him.

But this thread has almost certainly raised awareness of the situation to a level that has prevented many people from sending more engines into the abyss. Sometimes the best you can hope for is to at least contain the fire and not allow it to spread.
No, but when you Google Varner this thread comes up near the top, and with the number of views it has received I'm sure it prevented more than one person from sending their engines his way.
You guys misread what I’m saying. I don’t have time to waste on a guy like him, 3 years is a long time to be bitter.
Yet you keep posting in this thread, weird.
I get what you're saying, but would you not be a little pissed off if he had your stuff sitting in his shop for 3-years after you paid him?
I got no skin in the game, but I understand why some members would be pissed off at him. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have more than 1-bike to ride. Visiting him to get their stuff back isn't easy when they live across the country, and it's even more difficult when they live in an entirely different country.
By keeping this thread going, some people now stand a chance at sending their stuff to a different engine builder.
1000%
It would be a huge disservice to the moto communty to not keep this active. There are still people without their money and their motor.
It blows my mind someone would be against this.
Keep? Lol. You have a weird definition of keep considering the other day was my first post in this 3 year old thread.
I respect that.
When I asked how many people still are having issues getting stuff back no one responded other than the one guy he owes cash to. Has he possibly caught up as far as returning or finishing all motor work?
This won't be popular, but I sent him a CR cylinder and head recently and had it returned ported within 3 weeks. I'm not part of any CA click and have also had return issues with him in the past. At the end of the day everyone needs to weigh the pros and cons of using Terry. For Honda's no-one is better. Hopefuly he tries to make everyone whole.
Pasha was a huge help with Varner for me.
But Varner should still be held accountable for hid bad business practice.
As someone once said, " Any press is good press, even bad press. It get's your name out there."
I doubt he's going to change.
I wanted to give you all an update,
Terry has made me whole, I received my $800 today from him, I spoke with him on the phone also,
He acknowledges what he has done and apologized for it, and gave me all of my money back.
He said he is trying to do right with everyone that has gotten burned. I know there’s a bunch of pissed off people on this message board but this is a step in the right direction for Varner motorsports and I hope he continues to make everyone hole.
I will be taking down my reviews of his business at this point
How long has he owed you the money?
Little over a year
Fuck that. Dude had you held up for over a year, and since he finally (at least) gave you your money back, your not going to leave your review up?
Pit Row
Well to be honest I’m quite exhausted over the whole situation, and would like to never respond to this thread ever again. I have too much shit going on in my life to worry about this I got my parts back I got my money back I got inconvenienced pretty badly, but at least I’m done with this bullshit for me anyway he stood up and finally did the right thing.
I would still leave the review up, that's what they are for and it was a honest review .
This is great to hear and if he truly is making it right for those he screwed, we should all see that as positive. I am sure all of us have made mistakes in our lives we needed to be forgiven for......assuming we took the steps to make it right.
Ah the old "fuck you got mine" attitude...nice.
Lame taking the reviews down.
I get being over it and having a lot going on man, but if you had the time to post here...
In my opinion you should do others the service of updating your reviews to include him making it right, though it was a year later.
If he's making things right, the reviews should paint the WHOLE picture...not just disappear.
Got your parts back, got your money back, but didn’t have possession of your motor for a year?
I’d say that’s a net negative.
I don’t know if that’s truly the case here. I don’t think the review should be pulled but instead updated to reflect the final outcome.
Until every single person has been made whole I wouldn't take reviews down; it sucks that it's going to be such a deep hole for Varner to dig out of (and I don't support kicking anyone when they're down), but I view those reviews as somewhat of a public service for non-Vitards that may be tempted to take their stuff there. He's obviously a very talented, very impulsive guy that made some poor choices, got in way too deep, and is struggling to climb back out. Sending him more money (or motors) until he's ready to do that seems foolish...
This sounds reasonable.
Terry could easily just never paid me back,
it shows he is trying to make things right,
i will update my reviews as I see fit.
I hope one of you , missing your parts or money are next on his list to correct what has been done.
Yes, removing the review would be a huge disservice to everyone else. It’s not like the risk is gone to other potential or existing customers suddenly now that you’ve been reimbursed.
Glad to hear he’s trying to make things right, I hope this story has a happy ending for everyone involved including Terry.
That's good he returned your things.
But here's my experience. He will always lie to you about progress etc. Give you a sob story.
He actually called me within ten minutes of my motor arriving after TWO YEARS! What did I think of it. Did I put it in the frame and ride it yet?
My guess is he knows just what he's doing returning something for a little good will.
He also asked me to take down any negative posts. I told him no way. As I feel everyone else should do. I get the one guy was burned out dealing with him for a year. It's a huge frustration and time waster.
If he was a turning a new leaf. This thread would be over with. Yet it's still going on.
the $1000 was what I was missing
now I have my engine and money,
I since moved on to 3 more newer bikes, reinstalled my yz125 engine back in the frame and use it at pole line road to hit jumps,There was nothing wrong with the engine just the unknown hours
