I never realized there was so much dislike for the guy. Always seemed like a cool funny guy to me through the years. Then again I don’t listen to all these podcasts and shit.

I actually haven’t seen any of the accusations. My point is the only Ping comments I see are referring to Astephens comments which seem to all conflict with his own comments. Which is a shit look on him. Don’t comment until the story is ironed out. An agent shouldn’t be commenting out of spite. 
 

the story he told RacerX was different than in the IG comments. Riders can’t just use whatever they want in the off season, that’s cheating. And he never mentioned in the comment replies he refused as he didn’t know it was a WADA event. That’s where I believe the “bad look” comes from.

I don't think I've seen 1 person say they are impressed with how Astephen handled this but I still believe his story about the scene over the drug test. So far KR hasn't been popped on the piss test and I don't think WADA would sweep it under the rug if he did given their history.

For those of us that dont come everyday what did ping say that warrants a lawsuit (op's idea anyway). 

I assume its something to do with KR and a drug test? I do recall reading about that tucked away in an article somewhere where he was checking out potential rides for next year.

Also, wasnt it ping that gave KR a yz250 to ride at straight rhythm?

I have been in and out of the moto industry since I was a teenager, and some of my closest friends are current or former top riders. When they are balls deep in racing, there is little-to-no focus on current events and how to world works. When they retire and start catching as glimpse of the real world, it is really hard for them to process all the information and they get overwhelmed. That's why you see so many former riders making social media posts quoting QAnon-inspired articles. 

I am a partner in a company that makes composite pipelines for Oil & Gas - I am as conservative as they come. But my opinions and beliefs are based on the experiences I have doing business and living in the real world. As a matter of fact, I just returned from a conference with all the major players in Oil & Gas, future fuels (green technologies) and multiple government agencies, including big time politicians. I spent 3 days getting the inside line on the future of energy around the world. 

When I'm involved in the moto industry, my blinders are put on a bit from reality and I begin to become out of touch. I am disconnected and my opinions don't hold much water.  

When I probe my racing buddies why their feelings are so strong on topics, their arguments last about 15-30 seconds and they begin to see the holes in their own stories. 

Ping needs to be able to look at the chaos around him, not freak out, and figure out how to make a big impact, not just noise. Or he can figure out how to best navigate through this crazy world for him and his family, and enjoy the fact he gets to escape from reality and live in the moto bubble.

Great post.  Explains Ping et al to a T.  Especially coming from a conservative in the O&G industry.  Not many openminded common sense folk left on Vital I thought

Not quite.  Compensatory damages for lost income or opportunity is only one type of damages, and someone can still get hit with punitive damages even if the jury makes a symbolic $1 compensatory damages award if false statements of fact - not opinion - were made recklessly or intentionally.  

The distinction between fact and opinion can be elusive (example "he's a cheat" - probably opinion until who/what/where/where/why gets added to it).
