Not the best 30+ rider ever, but gonna give Marv a shoutout for still getting podiums, winning races, and maintaining his perfect straight rythm record at nearly 33. With his current pace, he's probably going to add 1 or 2 more main event wins before he retires.

Doug Dubach, Doug Henry deserve credit.

JYD. He’s my hero.

Mike Brown but we are talking Humans not extra-terrestrial beings…so he’s ruled out.

Everts is hard to argue with.

Tony was/is still great. Osborne was a real late bloomer too and won his title 30+.

McGrath, Windham, LaRocco, Reed and Brayton all won races in their 30s and were super competitive.

If we're talking guys who stayed at it post-retirement, Doug Dubach, Mike Brown, Kurt Nicoll and many others continue to amaze. Part of the key seems to be just staying at it.

But for me, The Junkyard Dog will always be King of the Vets.

X2. I was literally thinking this before I read you post. Wow

My thought is that Tomac could have the single most successful season (SX only, I know) of a rider 30+, next year in 2023.

Yes and to boot Brown didn’t have a 125 and put out a message that he was looking for one to “rent” for the day. Pasha stepped up and let Brown use his for the 30 Pro 125.

Another update: Mike Brown collected five titles at Mini O’s. He took home the +30, +35, +40, +45, and +50 Championships! This year he rode a KTM with Munn and FXR backing.

That's unreal. Brownie is a machine.

Everts is hard to argue with.

Tony was/is still great. Osborne was a real late bloomer too and won his title 30+.

The answer is very obviously Eli Tomac. No one is even close. At 30 years of age, he is the fastest man on the planet.

What Browny, Dowd, and Dr. D have done POST 30 years of age is spectacular- but they combined have ZERO premier titles. You have to give it to Decoster, Mikkola, or Everts. Decoster and Mikkola both won 2 500cc world titles after 30. This was at a time when that championship was without question the premier motocross series in the world. Everts on the other hand won 4 MXGP titles after 30. The difference being you can make an argument that the best riders in the world were racing a different series at that point and time. So not so cut and dry. 40 amateur/vet champs wins will never equal winning the premier championship in the world. I think the American series’ being so busy works against any of our super elite guys  having much left after 30.
