How many hours are on your bike?

At the moment I don't have a bike but was asked to guide a couple guys from out of town around my riding areas. I bolted on my suspension (the bike has been my wife's the last 2yrs) and spent 3hrs on the bike yesterday. Considering it's 700hrs on the original motor, clutch, etc, the bike still runs flawlessly! Bike starts instantly, a bit of cam chain slap but quiets as she build pressure... It does feel slightly under powered more then I remember but isn't burning oil or such.

Frame is mint, rads are mint, exhaust was mint too until about 2 weeks ago when my wife crashed in a moto race and put a slight dent in it. Doesn't leak oil from anywhere...

The smooth lip of the rim has worn over the years and you could now cut butter with it. I do feel the hubs are wearing out as bearings (even new) seem to have a slight bit of play. Otherwise, the 350 has been an excellent bike.

The only thing I was struggling with yesterday was a combination of timing and fitness (I am beat to shit today). As I rode things started to come together but I missed some breaking points and some rutted up hills that I could usually clean I was dog paddling up...

I have done 180 hours on a KX85 after a complete rebuild without even doing top ends, but 700 hours on a modern 4 stroke are just impossible

Lol, well good thing I'm not selling it to you...

I am not a Vital MX regular, but I am a regular over a ThumperTalk. I have most everything documented there. In 2017 I bought the bike new, raced it to a couple Vet Championships in Canada and put 300hrs in the bike that year (I race offroad). 2018 I put another 250hrs or so on it when I moved to the Pro Class. I raced it only 2x that year with a 2nd place finish, and a win. I gave the bike to my wife with close to 600hrs on it. My wife had put the other 100 or so hours on it race offroad and MX.

The bike is not abused, I do all my own maintenance, replace things immediately when they break or wear, regular filter and oil changes, T4 cut with 94 non ethanol, have ran a fan and bigger battery/stator since day one, run a Rekluse...

No, it's not common for people to put that many hours on a bike, let alone keep one for that long. I have a complete top end sitting in a box that I was going to replace at 100hrs, but the bike still ran perfectly. So I pushed it to 200hrs, bike still ran perfectly. After 300hrs I was like "fuck it, let's see what it can do", and here we are... Do I care much if the motor scatters? No, it doesn't owe me anything, and it's not worth anything either. I can't in good conscience sell it to someone with 700hrs on it either. Even for $3000, it would be cheaper to keep it and rebuild it (ultimately even put a 500 motor in it)...

I really just think it's cool that it's made it this far. And even yesterday though my conditioning was crap, I was thinking I could still race this thing and probably be ok... Lol

That’s ridiculously impressive man. Makes me wonder what the F I’ve been doing wrong to only make a bottom end last 170 hours on a 125 that is a mix of 50/50 moto and woods. I change the oil every two rides, air filter every ride, Run 110 or VPR with Castor 927.

The bottom ends aren’t really comparable between a 125 and a 350 four stroke.

Honestly 170 hours is pretty damn good from a 125.

Wasn’t sure what to expect since I got this used but here it is. Guess I should check the owners manual to see what should be done at this time.

A mod 125 to boot! I was expecting 120-130 out of it. I guess 170 is pretty good.

Honda 2007 CR 125 - 431 hours total. Didn't get the meter until 2009. I am more impressed that the meter is still running... How long do they last?! lol. New piston and rings every 30 hours or so. Less than $100 to do a complete top end, loving the 2 stroke life.

108hrs on my 19 crf250r. Bought it new in 2020, did a piston and timing chain at 88hrs. My wife has 78 on her 19 in the background without issues

2018 KTM 250SX - 26 hours
2016 Husqvarna TC250 - 14 hours
2019 TM 144MX - 101 hours
2021 Honda CRF250 - 50 hours
2003 Kawasaki KX250 - 50 hours
2019 Yamaha YZ250 - 100 hours
2013 KTM 250SX - 150 hours

Usually on small bores I do pistons every 20 and crank every 80. 250 2 strokes piston every 40 with crank at 120-30 hours. 250 4 strokes 50 for a piston, 100 crank. Suspension fluids every 20-25 hours. Frame bikes once a season.

I don’t understand selling bikes at 40 hours. Guys like Keefer are the only people on earth who can feel a “stretched” frame at 40 hours. At 40 hours I’m usually the most comfortable I’ve been on a bike, and 40 hours is absolutely nothing. I typically do that in a season or less (used to be half of a season or less).

I know top Canadian pro riders who have put over 100 hours on new 4 strokes without opening the motor. New bikes are very good.

Apples and oranges, I know, but I have a 2017 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R that I bought new in may 2017. It has about 88000 miles on it. My trip computer tells me my average speed over that time has been 52mph, including idling at stop lights, etc. This works out to roughly 1685 hours. never a single issue. It runs/rides like it did when new, and is a ridiculous beast on the road, with liter class sportbike like power that fires the damn thing down the road like a two wheeled rocket...very satisfied customer, zero ussies with the bike

I have a 06 rmz450 that has only had a cam chain changed and oil service every couple of rides.
I’ve raced it in everything from British championship mx to beach races and enduro’s.
Couldn’t tell what hours are on it now but kind of curious to see how long it goes on.
I only use it a couple of times a year now but still rev the piss out of it.

Some impressive numbers on here. Modern four-strokes hold up really well. I've got a 19 KX450 with maybe 30 hours on it. Sounds like I won't have to worry about any major issues anytime soon lol

2019 KX450......170 hours. Who would have thought it possible? 1 piston and a crank at 90 hours.

Could it be, some of those bikes with ridiculous hrs on them have an hr meter that is not keeping time correctly? Is it even possible ?

I went through 3 hour meters on my journey to 800hrs.

Combined with my hour meters, I had a about 600hrs also tracked through my training app which included training lap times and racing time.

I have seen some of the cheap no wire hour meters that pick up on vibration putting hours on the bike when it is strapped in the back of a truck and transported.....

2019 KX450......170 hours. Who would have thought it possible? 1 piston and a crank at 90 hours.
I had at least 8 KX450F's between 2007 and 2015. Put at least 200 hrs on each one. They were the most reliable, trouble free bikes I could have ever hoped for. much better than the Yamahas I currently have- one of which grenaded its transmission for no reason

(Sold (for more than I bought it for)) 06' Yz250 - 345 hrs
(Current) 13' Yz250 - 180 hrs and still going...

Looking for a swing arm as I believe the thru holes have started warping allowing for a bit of play in the rear. Fresh bearings helped a bit but didn't take all of the play away.
